(most likely 3rd gen) QD-OLED, 27" 16:9 1440p 360Hz
- Dell Alienware AW2725DF, flat, glossy, $899 (!!)
- Samsung Odyssey OLED G6, has flat and curved variant, matte
- Gigabyte Aorus FO27Q3 (unsure if flat or curved), glossy
- MSI MPG 271ARX, MAG 271QPX, flat, glossy

I've been eyeing the LG 27GR95QE-B for a while and with these monitors coming, should I wait more for review and/or price drop of this monitor?

So far the cheapest one that I found is 3.5K. 40% casual gaming and the rest are mixed anime/work/Youtube FB etc, mostly used after office hours.

Basically aiming for 27 flat QHD OLED with at least 144Hz, so initially thought 240Hz is already overkill, let alone 360Hz. Not sure on burn-in warranty for the LG though, I only knew it's 3 yrs.

i think most will offer 3 years burn in warranty. same goes to dell. but yes need to check locally. later no burn in warranty at all even.

it's really up to u whether if u want to wait, for grab the existing LG one if there's a discount deal. of course wait for reviews even better cuz at least you can compare with the QD-OLED competitors in the QHD field.

also, there may be a catch from QD-OLED hiding behind all the wows, they particularly have an issue on raised blacks - basically in a brightly lit room (or if the screen is facing the window), the black becomes brighter due to the lack of polarizer from QD-OLED, and the light is refracted in the quantum dot layer, resulting in a very observable pinkish tint

Thanks lolzcalvin. Yea, I don't mind wait abit for better price biggrin.gif Agreed, I've watched the video and having same concern on the pinkish tint for those QD-OLEDs.

On top of that, those 27" QHD announced at CES are mostly 360Hz (instead of 144 / 240) which is kinda bothering me since as we know the monitor tech is too advanced (in term of FPS / refresh rates) for current gen GPUs to handle, specifically AAA games. Of course it would be beneficial for competitive gamers, but not for most of us casual gamers / users. Plus, OLED is still relatively new and the material will be degraded over time, so I don't think it's worth to fork extra $$ just for those QHD 360Hz monitors for it to be 'futureproof'.

Well, it's CES so ofc they want to show off laugh.gif Plus, all of other QD-OLED gen 3 improvements are really good though, especially text clarity. Can't wait for new WOLED panel review.

I've checked with LG last weekend and here's their reply. Basically yes, burn-in from normal usage is covered. thumbup.gif

As I expected, around RM6000. And it's MAG model instead of MPG model. FYI, MAG model doesn't provide firmware update. A high end monitor that unable to update firmware and cost more than RM6000? How about NO Thanks.

Obviously, MSI is treating Malaysia as third world country. What a dissapointment. Why the hell they choose to launch MAG model instead of MPG model? Probably assumed that most Malaysia buyers are not tech savvy. doh.gif

I immediately contacted Dell last week to request a quote for AW2725DF after checked out MSI Malaysia store page daily and found out they put MAG 271QPX for RM4299 for preorder.

Like seriously, not only they didn't bother to bring MPG version (I'm not interested with MAG 27" at all due to lack of firmware updates), they even put the price of RM4299 (it's $749 in the US) which is RM5.74 per dollar.
Even their RM3999 MSI Claw that already expensive (its US$799 in the US or RM5 per dollar) is better price ratio than this monitor. ranting.gif

In comparison, Dell AW2725DF with US$899 and it's RM3599 here which basically RM4 per dollar only.

Honestly I prefer MPG 27" mainly for USB-C PD 90W, KVM and fanless design with their supposedly cheaper than Dell in the US (ofc after sales Dell is better). But with this stupid MSI Malaysia pricing, Dell is obviously no-brainer.

Won't consider MSI at all after this. shakehead.gif
