Good news for those don't mind about colour accuracy.

Wah, another 4k monitor. Looks very similar to the Asus PB287Q specs.

From the picture, I think I prefer the stand from Philips, looks like Dell's U series. hmm.gif With rounded base. laugh.gif

HDMI is the same as DVI, share the same digital video signal tech but HDMI can carry audio signal, that's all, but I think HDMI has limit to 1080p only so it will up to you. 4K on HDMI, currently only 30p/i max? Correct me on this.
*
Yeah. For 4k, use Display Port.

I'll ask dhl for the tariff code on monday. Hope it will be under PC.
*
Hope it's not too late. Whatever you do, make sure they do not give you the 8528.59.000 harmonised code. That's categorising the LCD meant for TV and that would land your 25% + 10% tax.

The correct code for LCD monitor meant for computing is 8528.51.000 and that will give you 0% tax.

Good luck.

hi guys, anyone knows which shop in Digital Mall PJ is selling the Dell 27" UltraSharp U2713HM?

I'm looking to get one there. prefer to buy it at store rather than online as I need the official shop reciept.

thx
*
Check CZone. Their price list says RM 1955 for 5 year warranty. All IT does sell Dell monitors but not in their price list. Perhaps need to ask.

any cheap budget 4k monitor for intro? and what is the diff. between Dell's U n S series? both using IPS panel right?
*
I'm looking at the Dell P2715Q that runs 4k at 60Hz. Not to be confused with P2815Q that runs 4k at 30 Hz.

There's 28 inch Samsung UD590 but that's TN panel.

There's also 32 inch monitors BenQ BL3200PT or the Acer B326HK which is basically the same as the BenQ. But they are not available locally as far as I know.

i got mine at ALL IT @ RM17xx/RM1850 - somewhere around here. 5 yrs warranty as well. (half year+ ago)

You got it from All IT in Digital Mall Section 14?

Dell since the Samsung is TN panel.

Hi guys, I just got myself a U2414H. What presets do you guys use? I read that sRGB gives the best viewing experience but its look kinda red? I used window's colour calibration to adjust the colour accuracy, is that tools good? What's the best way I get a good colour accuracy? thanks!
*
Best way to get colour accuracy from your monitor is to get it calibrated by external calibrator from Xrite / Colormunki / Spyder.

QUOTE(akachester @ Dec 12 2014, 09:51 AM)
I just got myself a secondary LCD. Can i know whether is it possible to do full screen gaming on the primary, and watch movie on the second?
*
What graphics card are you running? What resolution gaming on primary and watching 1080p on secondary?

Most decent cards should be able to handle this.

Any U2913WM owners out there? How does your 21:9 movies look on the screen? How easy is it to use the Dell Display Manager to arrange 2 apps side-by-side?

Does anyone know how much the U2715H costs in Malaysia? The bezel looks very thin on this model compared to U2713HM.
*
Get a single U3415W. The U2913WM is a little cramp.

If you plan on running 2 monitors, perhaps get two P2415Q or P2715Q at 4k/60 resolution.

I don't do games. I'm satisfied that my lowly graphics card can push 4k/60 with a single DP connection.

Anyway, had a brief scare just now as the screen had intermittent flickering problem. Initially suspected the Dell DP cable. Turned out that my power source is the suspect. sweat.gif

Recommendations.
small monitor but could display color accurately.
*
How small? 24" small or 32" small?

AdobeRGB accurate or sRGB accurate?

10bit panel or 8bit + FRC?

If colour accuracy is truly important, then a colour calibrator is a must regardless of the choice made from the above.

Lot of people buy Dell monitors. Not just monitors but other stuff as well like notebook and PC. If it wasn't safe, you surely hear of people being conned.

the sad part of using U2515H is that its relatively new, so there isnt much ICC profile to test around at all :/

unless im willing to manually tweak and test

Colour accuracy cannot eyeball. You need to calibrate using a colorimeter.

QUOTE(bloophead @ Feb 21 2015, 06:18 PM)
Thanks for your reply. However, I am looking to maintain the 2560 x 1440 resolution and HDMI will not suffice.
*
PC or notebook? What graphics card do you have? If it cannot support 2560 x 1440 at 60Hz, then your HDMI from your graphics card (and also possibly your cable) is less than version 1.3 which is old. Either that or you're trying to run at extended distance.

Suggest you upgrade your graphics card if it's a PC or a new HDMI cable if it does not support version 1.3. A cheap graphics card already can have almost all the necessary connections you want. The time and effort to hunt down for a convertor that MIGHT work sometimes not worth it and probably as expensive as a graphics card itself.

QUOTE(marfccy @ Feb 22 2015, 03:33 PM)
i thought it can go both ways? hmm.gif

Not possible to have DVI to DP. The world will be upside down if that were possible. biggrin.gif

My monitor is flickering with DP to DP...

Dell U2312HM A00 September 2012 built, Asus EAH6970...

Its been working fine with DVI but then i change to DP this week...
Anyone having the same problem ?
*
A quick check before getting a new DP cable would be to try using a different power socket from monitor to the wall or a new power cable? It solved the problem for me when I switched to a different monitor requiring 2 x DPs. Have not checked why but I suspect the power socket on the extension cord I was using was a little faulty. Can happen.

Possible... Digital to "another Digital" converter, powered, takes one signal and converts it to another.... cost, quite expensive.. money better spent on a new monitor...

Great find. As a passthrough that is. My original reply was referring to making DVI having Display Port bandwidth.

Tried with exchanged cable... same result..

It seems the flickering start only with high resolution (full HD)...

Done a few testing, uninstalled the Driver (Clean) & booted up with the windows driver seems working fine...
Once i have installed the AMD driver the problem starts, i have 4 DP ports.
1st port was working fine until i installed the AMD driver and the monitor when blank, unplug and put on other port works with flickering...

I suppose its a faulty card... dont have any other monitor to test on...
*
Hmmm... 4 DP ports? What card is that? brows.gif

Do you have other cards to swap?

Planning to upgrade my U2412M to a 27" and so decided to call up Dell.

Quoted for the below,

*U2715H - RM1999
U2713H - RM2099

Whoah! Only RM100 differences between the U2715H and U2713H? And the U2713H comes with Premier color instead, this was about RM2.7k before this? I kinda like the design of the newer U2715H but the U2713H Premier Color is good for me as I do photo editing.

Corrected typo on the U2715H.

Premier Color thumbup.gif

QUOTE(celciuz @ Mar 3 2015, 02:20 PM)
Which means the newer 27" PremierColor is coming soon?

Dell mentioned if purchase with MasterCard and over RM3000, have additional 5%! Butt was itchy decided to ask for the U3014 --> RM4109. Oh great...
*
Heheh, 27" with Premier Color would be the UP2715K.

Go for that. 5K plus Premier Color. Pain only one time. laugh.gif cry.gif

DVI is working fine and start to become general, then suddenly most monitors start to change to DP... which has no clear advantage over DVI but potential problem across seen in the forum.

While many newer monitor come without DVI as well.  doh.gif
*
DP has it's advantages. More bandwidth. Easier for manufacturer to standardise and I believe LCD display manufacturers (TV as well as monitors) tend to choose DP / HDMI as industry standard because they also carry audio. With newer and higher display resolution, HDMI shows it's weaknesses. HDMI is still evolving and currently version 1.4 limited to 4k/30. Version 2 just came out and perhaps this will trickle in. Perhaps not so soon since there is hardly any HDMI 2.0 hardware out.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Mar 3 2015, 08:46 PM)
Very painful... More painful than the 30"? >_<

Most likely going for the U2713H hehe, now to find someone to buy along with me for the additional 5% discount... 2099 retail pricing.

In all honesty, the 30" will do justice to the 5k resolution. Even 32" would be better. On the 27", it's a little cramp.

Just received my U2713H! Awesome so far, no regrets hehehe! Now... time to upgrade my little computer table before I can put both of them side by side... btw, anyone using a 27" paired with another 24" in vertical mode? Can share some pics?

Congrats ! rclxms.gif I use my 27" beside my 24" but both in landscape mode. 24" in portrait mode is a little too tall for my liking.

Anyway, one thing to note is my 27" monitor screen height (16:9) is almost the same as the screen height on the 24" (16:10).

I don't have the CPU and GPU power he has but while I agree with mostly what he says, I disagree with him saying that a for a few hundred bucks more the iMac 5k gives a computer plus 5k monitor etc. He forgot that the UP2715K is a true 10 bit LCD panel which the iMac 5k is not and never will be.
