wow....i didnt follow the monitor trend for quite some time and suprise to find dell being the favourite nowadays...what change?

@djlah why matte for working? and by working u mean??? does photo editing consider working? and why glossy good for entertainment?

for matte which dell monitor would u recommend? below 1k budget. many thanks
*
working meant for me is using for email, spreadsheet, words document a lot. glossy is not an idea. and yes, photo editing highly recommended matte screen. if watching only movie, glossy are good.

same comment here, U2414H.

Both U2414H and U2415H are not 4K. Both are recommended, the main different is ratio.

can recommend me a ips 23" monitor, glossy and wifout those anti glare coating.
im setting up a darkroom for my pc...so i dun have to worry abt reflections or external bright lightings...
*
how's your budget?
Dell S2340L
if you have higher budget, get latest model, S2415H. it's just 0.8" bigger in display size, the overall physical dimension are very close, because the latest design come with slim border thumbup.gif

both are IPS and Glossy.

still DELL huh...im wondering why dell suddenly bcome the mainstream monitor brand now  hmm.gif
last i recall it was Samsung....

but thanks for the recommendation.
i wanna setup dual monitor for my PC and gonna pair it with my old samsung xl2370.
one for gaming, another one for photo editing.

ok...not sure if i can ask this next question here...but how do one setup dual monitor on his pc? sweat.gif

my old samsung monitor is having hdmi input only....while my gc only has 1 hdmi output but 3 displayport output.
can i still setup a dual monitor using one hdmi, while another one displayport?
*
Why DELL? price, specs, and warranty service. the best, at least for me.
Samsung? low end use TN and mainstream use PLS. IMHO, I prefer IPS more than PLS. samsung most problem is, highest end model very very expensive for me.

yes, you can, current gc dual monitor sure no problem. some rich fag even go for triple or quad with their high end gc. old samsung can continue using HDMI. xl2370 for gaming still fine. but for photo editing, better get Dell UltraSharp. glossy monitor is big NO for photo editing.

now dell have many choices of UltraSharp model, starting from U2414H, U2415H, U2515H, etc...... depend on your budget and requirement.

*

but from i google so far - glossy provides better display, whereas matte may sort of like dull the color...
just like how i experience between matte screen protector vs a glossy screen protector for my handphone. although glossy will be a magnetic fingerprint...but im have no reason to touch my monitor here..so...

but why u said glossy is a big NO for photo editing. i thought glossy cons is the reflection, which i would have it solved by sitting in a darkroom...

i mean whats not to love on the glossy screen (left matte, right glossy)
user posted image

but i thought u mentioned glossy is good for movie...why not for photo editing...now im totally confuse... rclxub.gif
*
trues, last time matte screen is really dull the color. but not for today. recent line up, is some sort of semi-glossy. close to glossy beauty but still under matte categories. why glossy is not for photo editing? coz glossy coating is like "adding" or improve and crispy the display, and we will miss-judge the origin color of picture. this is my personal experience, the photo editing done on glossy monitor, very satisfied. but when move to friend's monitor and other display, complaint why my photo editing so doh.gif all color range gone...

yes, the best is we have matte screen for editing, once done, drag to glossy monitor to see again will be perfect. (left matte, right glossy)

that's correct, movie or gaming can take glossy screen, are still fine. why not for photo editing? take Dell monitor as example, glossy monitor like S2340L, the color gamut specs are low. professional at least get P series and best go for UltraSharp. which offer much better color gamut, more accuracy and standard of ARGB and sRGB.

so true...i was just having that same thought as well....

even if i get the most expensive IPS monitor now and fully calibrate it to produce true to life colour...
but when export it out to the internet, it's gonna be view by non-ips viewer who may claim the color is meh... sad.gif

sigh...decision...decision...

anyway, im starting to catch up on the latest monitor tech and spec available and your explanation and recommendations has really help along the way djlah.
many thanks.  notworthy.gif

now i need to look at my wallet, google, plan and decide... sweat.gif

no problem. we're all here to give comment or take input from from everyone as references only. final decision is still back to our own. Happy shopping monitor icon_rolleyes.gif

in forum, sure there is many many different different view of angels, there is nothing wrong or right sometime. if anything not align or different preferences, best is ignore, instead of post nonconstructive comment. joking or trolling post is belong to Kopitiam or somewhere else.

Planning to upgrade my U2412M to a 27" and so decided to call up Dell.

Quoted for the below,

U2415H - RM1999
U2713H - RM2099

Whoah! Only RM100 differences between the U2715H and U2713H? And the U2713H comes with Premier color instead, this was about RM2.7k before this? I kinda like the design of the newer U2715H but the U2713H Premier Color is good for me as I do photo editing.
*
it's normal, old gen model price drop. design or premier color? I vote premier Color...

Which means the newer 27" PremierColor is coming soon?

Dell mentioned if purchase with MasterCard and over RM3000, have additional 5%! Butt was itchy decided to ask for the U3014 --> RM4109. Oh great...
*
Current PremierColor Models:
UP3214Q
UP2414Q
UP2715K

U2713H

U3014
U2413

It's not replacement model of U2713H but UP2715K already launched, which is newer 27" PremierColor Monitor, price? sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif
IMO, felt that 30" bit oversize, 27" is the best for me.

In all honesty, the 30" will do justice to the 5k resolution. Even 32" would be better. On the 27", it's a little cramp.
*
agree, if looking for >4k resolution, must be at least 30" or above. 27" with 2k still look good for me ATM.
see before the entry level 4k on 28", no good....

In consideration:
Viewsonic VX2370SMH
Acer 24ghyl
AOC I2476VWM
Dell u2414h

Recommendations?

I'm using U2414H with MKS14 + AX510. If I need to buy again and choose among these 4, I still go for U2414H.

Guys... U2414H or 2415H?  Which will you guys choose? Difference in price is RM200...  sweat.gif
*
Is depend on what you need or your usage/objective. If the extra different from U2415 is not necessary for you, then you can save the RM200. the differences as below: U2414H vs. U2415

1. 23.8" vs. 24"
2. 16:9 vs. 16:10
3. 250 cd/m² vs. 300 cd/m² (the brightness)
4. gamut [CIE 1976/CIE1931/sRGB]: 85%, 72%,96% vs. 91%, 76%, 99% (yes, higher are better)
5. USB: 4ports vs. 6ports(with 1 power charging port)
6. power: 16W-74W vs. 23W-75W

already used my U2414H almost 2yrs. if I need to buy again or second monitor, I will go for U2414H.

Guys.. want to as because I am a noob in tech..

Is the Mini-DP to DP reversable as well? Mean I want to use DP to Mini-DP (plan to get a U2414H)?

As my PC is DP
U2414H can be mini-DP or DP

Workable?
*
Yes, it's work, My PC side is using full size DP now.
