my 2 cents:

in germany, angela merkel has used to study physics, i think she has a phd in physics.
most of their ministers have phd qualifications i.e. dr. etc etc.
- a technocratic goverment.

what does physics have to do with governing a nation?
nothing but it trains the mind to look at things analytically, systematically instead of giving some optimistic speech, false promises. but then again, that's politics.

here. portfolio's are rotated ie. minister of education for the current term, next term. minister of defence.

the problem with such a system is they lack the technical skills and experience. have to rely on their deputies to fill them in. how can u compare a guy with say 20-30 years experience in the army against a minister who never worked in the army before yet become minister of defence?

education minister..dun even have a masters let alone a phd. conferred titles don't count as a real post graduate degree. what would he know about the real state of affairs in our country's education system?

in other words, whatever the gov. say/promise, ignore. all talk cock only.

especially critical ministries like economy, the real decision makers are the deputies who prepare the reports for the minister to decide on.
this is because the deputies can influence the reports and the minister with no sound technical background simply makes a decision.

when election time comes, dun simply believe what candidate xxx tell u. all talk cock only.
