So I decided disassemble my full tower rig that I did last year. It was called [Project] BalROG if you guy are interested in checking it out: Link. I also decided to quit watercooling for now, going back to air cooling so dont expect anything fancy in this build. I have already started selling of all the old watercooling components but other stuff like gpu, cpu, mobo, ram etc is still in my full tower rig at the moment. My plan is to build a m-atx rig & move all the stuff into my m-atx casing (obviously I will need to change motherboard).

Basically I will be killing off balROG (like how it died in lord of the rings tongue.gif ), thus the name "phoenix" for this project. "It will get a new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor". Yeah I know it doesn't make any sense, from balROG suddenly become phoenix but whatever. Its just a project name man laugh.gif Also I am quite busy, working & stuff so I will keep this worklog short & modding progress might be slow.

The casing that I will be using is a bitfenix prodigy M. There is two issue that I have with this casing, first of all is the inverted motherboard. I somehow just dont like the idea of inverted mobo even though nothing is wrong with it. The 2nd issue is casing window layout. The mobo should be mounted at the left side of the casing (viewing from front) but for my desk the casing needs to be at my right side. Meaning if I made a window for it, its pointless as I won't be able to see the components inside with this layout. Alright what the hell, lets take matters in our own hands.

Drill the rivets. Settle. Time to sleep.

Edit: If the images are too big let me know, I'll put it in a spoiler.

Not doing any major mods in this build but I am thinking of painting the front & top plastic to red colour.

Didnt mod last week because I was waiting for my rivet gun. Didn't want to use screws, so I decided to get myself a rivet gun.

user posted image

Had to drill 3 holes at the top to secure the mobo tray, initially the rivets were at the bottom of the casing but since I flip the orientation...

Sad, I do not have rivets in black sad.gif Thinking of spraying the rivets to black but I'll try this temporary solution first...

Not much, just did some painting to the top & front covers. The top cover was having the soft touch texture so painting on it didnt turn out that good. Had to re-paint it & also used thicker layers of paint. Probably should use a primer laugh.gif

I think now you can't use GPU longer than 25cm. Did you check it?

Yup it wont fit gpu longer than 25cm so its either I use gtx760 or think of a way to modify the psu position / gpu position.

Got some custom feets from silverstone. I don't mind prodigy top handles, makes it easier to carry around but handles for feet doesn't really fit my taste I guess tongue.gif

Got a new psu & mobo. My maximus hero will not fit in here to had to change mobo.

Putting things together..

So since I change the casing orientation, the psu cable extender that comes with the casing was initially at the bottom & now its at the top of the casing. Because of this the length is kinda short to route to the psu. I had to make a small cut at the psu bracket to get the cable in there.

Thinking of getting an AIO for the processor. Can't decide, maybe h100i? hmm.gif

Removed the top panel filter. Since I am blowing air outwards, there is no need for a filter I guess plus removing it will improve airflow at lower rpm speeds.

user posted image

Bought a new ssd for the build. Made some custom short cables for the sata & molex. Don't have any plans to sleeve it since it will be hidden anyways & I don't really have time to do it. Keep it black & simple I guess tongue.gif

Its almost done, I didn't do any major modding like my previous build. Basically I flip the prodigy-m orientation. I prefer this orientation & this allows me to put the rig under the shelf while still being able to view the inside components. If I didn't mod it, the motherboard tray will be to the left so I had to position the rig to my left instead to the right.

Now whats left is to make some custom leds, custom 24pin shorter wires, maybe the gpu wires as well & cut the side panel for an acrylic window. Maybe a psu cover for it as well.

If you noticed I made a custom 24pin psu cables since the stock cables are too long & bulky. Now its cleaner except for the gpu cables though. Thinking of making a psu cover, not sure on the design yet hmm.gif maybe luminous panel?

user posted image

Need to cover this part, might just use some black vinyl sweat.gif

This is one good stuff. Where did you buy the custom feet?

Actually i accidently broke my Prodigy feet. Because i watercool my prodigy causing it more heavier. One day i want to drain my loop by turning the case to the side, that time the feet broke and there's a tiny plastic shooting all over places.

I see your side 'bezel' at the floor is open due to the removal of the original feet. I am suggesting you cut the original feet it in line with the edge of the chassis and put it it as what I did to mine, but it is for the top at first and the lower will be cut later on until I can find new feet. A bit jagged at the cutting line but not too obvious from our sight.
