suggest you take standard chartered bank. they even take a high debt ratio people like me. blink.gif

Because they can earn high income from interest in case you are paying minimum only.

well, I have try apply for HLB wise card. try two times, two times failed.
does that mean different bank have different standard/rule?
*
Some banks are very conservative.
But then once your DSR > 60%, it is not wise to apply more cards.

What is DSR?
how to calculate on the DSR?
*
Debt service ratio.
Usually all loans and your monthly average spending vs your income.
My DSR now without spending is just 5%, with spending is about 20%

Guess I never ask properly.
Can it be more specific? Like electric bill, phone bill how much?
Petrol, groceries and other how much?

haha, true also.

electric - ~RM200
phone - ~RM150
insurance - RM200
petrol - ~RM400
groceries - ~RM500

i guess that's more or less everything for fixed expenses. sweat.gif
*
Get HLB's STUPID card, rm500 groceries, rm400 petrol and phone(mobile or Telekom?) can utilize the 8.25% of cash back.
In case rm100 balance you can't use it to pay phone bill, buy Milo and sell it off. Gain extra few rm.
Setback on this STUPID card is the T&C a lot and you get nuts if not under category you choose.

OCBC sent me a new blue Titanium card a few days ago without any acknowledgement, to replace my old silver color card which will due on next month.
Called CS to check if there's any gov tax waiver on next calender month, CS said no longer waived.
For the previous years, i received the waiver without making any request (with minimum spend of 10k per annum).
It seemed no reason for me to keep this card anymore, just proceeded with the termination of this card.
*
Well, you have to decide your self on terminate or not.

Heard need to spend rm30k.
With that amount, I'll use MBB + STUPID which I'm getting rm1590 of cash back.

Guys, I'm having this card currently and I'm thinking to terminate it as it serves not much purpose for me. Most of the places I go accept AmEx and I hardly use this card these days. However, my monthly personal insurance from GE is tied to this card for auto-debit.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to switch this card to OCBC Great Eastern Platinum MasterCard? Any privilege for GE insurance? http://www.ocbc.com.my/personal-banking/Ca...tern-cards.html
Though the 1% rebate seems not so attractive but I think it's a good backup card. Appreciate your advice. notworthy.gif

OCBC's cards are only useful on paying insurance.
Supplements are good, from covering a health problem and surface out another.

Why your cash back will be RM1590?

RM12k spent on Wise = RM1200 cash back; remaining RM18k spent (Assume all spent on Amex during weekend )=RM900, not even included the 5x points.
*
MBB capped at rm50 per month, so only rm600.
STUPID is capped at rm1200, but AF and GST have to pay, so rm990 only.
So how do I able to get rm2100 like you said tongue.gif
Now, let's discuss more on the rm18000, don't take 100% can use AMEX, say 80%, so rm14400, that's 72000TP, with 50000TP, you can redeem rm220 gift card. So 1590+220=rm1810 thumbup.gif

If I still stick with OCBC, that's only rm300 of cashback I'm getting.

I reckon so. 1% is not exactly good but I guess it's not bad as emergency and back up purpose.
My monthly insurance is only RM 250 that is only RM 3k per year. laugh.gif Other quarters cannot spend so much. laugh.gif
Bought this to complement the insurance provided by company. tongue.gif
*
Nah, I'll use my MBB's Master as back up. For your case, rm3000(1 year) = 3000, taking 1 TP(using AeonBig as benchmark) is rm0.0042, it will only give you rm12.60 for rm3000 spent.
If you insist on using OCBC, you are only getting rm30 and for sure you need to pay GST of rm50, that's -ve rm20 sweat.gif

QUOTE(kelvinlzy @ Dec 29 2014, 09:49 AM)
Oh ya, forgot about the capping, my bad. With that being said, OCBC is a great back up card.
*
See my above, then only think is it really good hmm.gif
I'm an ex OCBC card user also I cut it. No to discriminate this card, but with 1% of cash back, it is really not that good as primary or back up.

QUOTE(sms2u @ Dec 29 2014, 09:50 AM)
U can pay your insurance annually which amount is around RM3k? U can entitled 3% cash rebate with AEON Watami CC.
*
For this card, I'll still treat it as every month have to spend rm1000. Would be good if a person's monthly spending are rm2000 to rm3000 consistently thumbup.gif

Come on, unlimited 1% is good for one large spending, low income ppl like me who can't apply plat/visa signature cards, or high spenders who have maxed out their cc rebate quotas, or shall I say back up for your back up card? brows.gif
*
I will say it depends. If I'm going to spend big(this year will be my flight tickets), I'll use AMEX thumbup.gif
So your logic fail for me whistling.gif
I'm the type of person that before spending rm1000, I already make rm5000. So if were to spend big on electric appliance(>rm2000), either I pay cash(can get more discount) or using AMEX(like in Desa HT allows)

Yes, ca n pay annually. smile.gif
hmm.gif Think again, maybe it is a better choice for me to get Watami, doesn't matter if my other quarters cannot reach RM 3k but at least I could get RM 90 out of it. laugh.gif
Now it makes all senses. laugh.gif
Earlier my gym subscription is tied to this card and I have transferred it to my AmEx, so only left my insurance. hmm.gif
I'll terminate it when the anniversary comes in May, I'm pretty sure I will not get any waiver. So, just cut down all those not so useful cards in my wallet. laugh.gif
*
I won't wait till May, just cut it when free.

I heard rumors that once gst implemented on april, all the cc service tax will be remove, is it true?
if like that, then you can just dont care it and make this card as backup card, since there are no annual fee and service tax charge.
*
Nope, GST will replace GST, so it will be rm60 or rm50+6% whistling.gif

Not sure for OCBC... here is what we can get from Alliance FAQ... if all banks using same standard policy, there is no RM50 GST after 1st april 2015.
http://www.alliancebank.com.my/GoodsAndServicesTax/FAQ

CREDIT CARD / DEBIT CARD / ATM CARD
Will Credit Card Service Tax RM50 be imposed on my credit card after GST is implemented?
GST will replace the RM50 Credit Card Service Tax effective 1st April 2015.

I just paid RM50 for Credit Card Service Tax on 25.03.2015, will you prorate the fee with the implementation of GST from 1st April 2015 and refund the balance?
GST will not be charged on annual fees that have already been subject to the RM50 Credit Card Service Tax paid prior to 1st April 2015. GST will only be applied upon the due date of the next annual fee.

If my credit/debit/ATM card annual fee is waived, will I still be charged GST?
No, there is no GST charge on the waived annual fee.

If I am a non-Malaysian making purchases using the Bank's credit/debit/ATM card? Am I still subjected to 6% GST?
Yes, all banking services rendered and conducted in Malaysia are subjected to GST. You will be subjected to GST at the standard rate for the fees and other related charges e.g. annual fee, cash advance/ withdrawal fee and card replacement fee.

Is still too early to say on this.
I doubt government will release this income.

FAQs

Credit  Card Q27  After the implementation of GST on 1 April 2015, what will happen to the RM50 service tax on credit cards?

I collected OCBC GE Platinum Card from poslaju on 13/3/15; made my first transaction on 16/3/15 and received a memo by mail thanking me for using the card on 19/3/15. But I still haven't received the PIN to register OCBC online.

How long do I have to wait for this PIN? Is there other venue I can go (say branch) to get a pin?
*
The card by default will be pinless nod.gif
This is for security reasons.
And to prevent any potential fraud, is good that you self collect the card from branch.
