QUOTE(Hornet @ May 23 2014, 09:42 AM) I have a question, wonder if Edifier or anyone knows. Nope it isn't affected, that bass level is just for the subwoofer.I'm using Edifier S330 speaker. At the back of the subwoofer, there is a knob that allows us to control the Bass level. And there is a headphone output at the volume controller for the speaker. My question is, does the Bass level setting on the speaker affects the headphone audio if I'm using the speaker's headphone output? Thanks QUOTE(xFreedomBoix @ May 24 2014, 01:48 AM) Currently eyeing on asus xonar u7, asus xonar essence STX, creative soundblaster Zx, audinst HUD MX1 Asus Xonar Essence STX seems to be your choice. Because you need output and mic input for your Razer headset, and SPDIF out. That soundcard are known got very good quality and sound.Which do u guys think will boost my R8 2800's sound? currently using asus xonar DG.. will want SPDIF for my speakers, 3.5mm jack for my razer carcharias ( audio n mic jack ) thanks.. or is there any better option? budget ~650 |

QUOTE(xFreedomBoix @ May 24 2014, 09:20 PM) since STX uses RCA and 6.3mm jack, I need to use converter right.. will that affect the sound quality? Get a good 6.35mm to 3.5mm converter then it will be okay. I used this and it works good all the time. |

QUOTE(xFreedomBoix @ Jun 4 2014, 11:54 PM) Hi guys.. not sure where to ask so i posted here.. No need to be afraid of making full use of the sound card, once you hook it on and install the latest driver you will get better audio all the time.Thinking of grabbing an asus xonar STX to pair with my edifier R8 2800.. Wanna ask, if i only play music from youtube, am I making full use of the sound card? or should I get FLAC or 320kpbs MP3 audio? When playing those HD lossless audio, do I need to change my audio playback samplerate /bitrate? I come across the term ASIO when browsing.. it seems asus xonar stx support this... asio helps to handle the changes of the sample rate or bitrate automatically? Or am I wrong here... and to use asio playback, i need to set foobar2000's playback to asio or something? thanks.. kinda confusing to me.. Playing lossless audio is a must because is full quality from cd, you should enjoy it to the fullest. Using ASIO or WASAPI can squeeze a little more performance to your audio source, but can loose functionality because it only allows an audio source for playback like when you use foobar2000 you can't hear your youtube channel playing. Better sound card comes from the hardware design to achieve low distortion and higher signal-to-noise ratio, software normally took a small part of improvement. |

QUOTE(Axel @ Jun 16 2014, 07:13 PM) Hey guys, i need a bit of help. Oxidized plugs I think, you can try clean the plugs by wiping it with WD-40 or contact cleaner. My Edifier R501 MK2 is sorta acting up. At first, my front-right and behind-left wasn't working so i tried fiddling around with the wires (disconnecting and reconnecting). Now that those two are working, the center speaker aren't working and the sub isn't giving out any bass. The sub still has the red LED on and toyed around with the controls to no avail. Help? By the way, how do you connect your speakers? |

QUOTE(Axel @ Jun 16 2014, 07:51 PM) You mean the 3.5 mm plugs are oxidized or the red and black wires one? All the plugs I connect the speakers to my Asus Xonar DX bro Normally this case can verify again by twisting the plugs or shake gently it will it produce cracking sound or the sound will comes back alive. |

QUOTE(Axel @ Jun 16 2014, 11:02 PM) followed your advice, some of my other speakers worked, but nothing for center T.T The other contacts are cleaner than the sub so gives louder sound?? twisting it around actually did help but no sound for the center speaker. kinda feels like there's no power flowing. used wd-40 for all plugs New Update! All speakers are up and running but the bass got noticeably weaker though Played around with setting on Asus Audio Center (as i am using the Xonar DX) and still nothing that can help bass much Might possible you need to wipe the sub/center channel plugs until it shines a little then try again. |

QUOTE(toonny @ Jul 1 2014, 05:09 PM) Hi Bro, thanks again for your reply. Yes there are difference between analog input and optical input. Theoretically optical input should have better signal-to-noise ratio, but subjectively it is depends on personal preference. You may try see which sounds better to your ear. Now, is there any difference between analog input and optical input? Currently I do not own any sound card, speakers are drive by the on board sound card. My connection is as below. Graphic card HDMI to LCD > LCD RCA to R2700. or should I just use the optical input directly to the speaker? Thanks in advance! |

QUOTE(toonny @ Jul 1 2014, 09:38 PM) Hi bro Cosef, Pink noise and electronic music in loud volume, covered with blankets.I read your review on the R2500 studio speaker. Since mine is a new set, what should I use to break-in them? Follow what you did? Use pink noise? I also read Power911's review too, he used pink and white noise if not mistaken. But what will be the duration? Thanks~! That time my neighbours and housemate almost come and kill me. |

QUOTE(toonny @ Jul 1 2014, 10:41 PM) hi bro, I found this noise generator. Can I use this? It can set the duration for playing the noise. Can...what it actually need is loud and exercise the speaker driver for a period of time, so the speaker suspension will loose to optimal condition. Then you'll get good sound, more details, etc.Noise Generator |

QUOTE(Lowell @ Jul 10 2014, 09:22 PM) i am planing to upgrade my speaker from vs4521 to r2700 or r2800, would it be a waste if I only use build in sound card on these two big speaker? Don't worry, there will be no waste but you'll gain lot more headroom for better sound on later upgrade. It is the same like using a high end sound card with entry level speaker, performance improve not much but lot more headroom if using a better speaker. |

QUOTE(Lowell @ Jul 11 2014, 06:34 PM) Thanks for reply If you got space and need more bass, you can go for R2800 for larger woofer diameter. Oh yea you can even use the speaker digital input if your pc got digital output from sound card. |

QUOTE(EpsilonStar @ Jul 28 2014, 11:11 AM) Hello guys, I am planning to get Xonar STX soundcard. Is there any good speaker good for music listening that i can pair it? currently i set budget RM500. Could be setup problem I guess, R2600 and R2700 sounds good if you have a good sound card and a real good performance signal cables.I have sampled R2800, R2700,R2600 in lyn. R2800 sounds quite good, but it's kinda too big and warm. And not sure if it's the unit problem, R2700 and R2600 sounds terrible in comparison. Sounds like radio quality sound. Is it really that big difference to R2800? Is there any other model i can chekc out? thx |

QUOTE(CyrusWong @ Aug 16 2014, 08:55 PM) anyone can gimme some tips and guide to place my subs on the best place to get the best experience? How do you think about the current bass sounding?as you can see in be below picture, my subs are placed right side under my pc table. the bass are.... ermm... not good... muddy? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « and here's how the subs woofer breathing hole direction. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « stay cool If not sure and want to try new position, maybe you can try re-position your satellite speaker first as lower mid range can possible affect the way you perceive the subwoofer bass. Make both satellites height identical and the bottom of the tweeter is around your ear level, if you can't do that maybe you can use door stopper to angle it up. As for subwoofer positioning, maybe you can try pull out the table and leave the sub at the same position so you got your sub around the same distance to your satellite speakers. Try it back and forth see which gives a fuller sounding to you. Hope that helps |

QUOTE(CyrusWong @ Aug 17 2014, 11:17 AM) no $$ already, bought few things this month Maybe you can try turn the subwoofer to face to the back, or reverse the polarity of the subwoofer sometimes can solve some bass continuity problem.nope, you can experience some kind like bass "boast" if place at corner place and you stand at the opposite corner. but in this room, I dunno how to place it lol This post has been edited by Cosef: Aug 17 2014, 10:48 PM |
