I don't know where to start or look for the correct terms (is it pre-cast concrete for wall) to google as per topic.

It seems ALL my contractors are complaining my walls are too hard to hack into or drill as there're made of concrete instead of red bricks for residential houses.

Is there more info I can look into, one of the CONS they said is it's hard to repair pipe leaks hidden within the walls, it's like you need to destroy the whole slab just to repair the pipes.

your wall is already build ... now only ask, for what reason ? you gonna change all the red brick so your contractor can work the repair mehhh ...

more of different selection og building materials....a walls could be made of

1. precast RC
2. red bricks
3. clay bricks
4. sand bricks
5. dry wall
6. sandwich panels

All the above depending on type of wall and application and also $$$$

A contractor who question the wall so hard is like a air cond repairer say how come your air cond so cold.....

I assume that your house is a condo.

Lots of condos adapt the concrete wall to reduce the usage of oversized columns which may take up space or affect the facade of the building.

High rise or landed, it is not possible to do hacking works on concrete walls because they act as support; while clay or sand bricks do not act as one for all new building projects now. Power tools for drilling should be okay as long the diameter is less than 2 inches.

For pipes, it depends how the flow line was design if you have photos do post here maybe I can give advise on this.

i think your unit is combination of shear walls and brick walls.
shear walls are rc walls. or enlarged rc column that resembles a wall.
don't play play.
some shear walls not suppose to be hacked.

hey, I experience the same.

a lot of high rise residential nowadays dun use brick any more, most of them are using concrete. normal impact drill or hammer drill can drill on brick wall but may not able to drill on concrete wall. have to use rotary drill. some contractors only impact/hammer drill as their job is jz to install fan, lights, air cond, grille and some light job, as rotary drill is much more expensive and only used for other heavy jobs.

get other contractor or buy urself a rotary drill and do the work urself.

My house is a landed house. Actually the question did occur to me before when it was under construction, red or grey bricks (clay or sand ?) weren't used to construct the vertical walls as opposed to other housing projects using red/grey bricks.

For heat insulation, the best is always sandwich panel.

For such evaluation of such application, one will always look at the k value of each materials. But it is not practical to have sandwich panel for residential usage. It looks uniquely unsuitable.
