My girlfriend measured her ring size and says that it's a little tight to fit in for size 8 , however once in, fits snugly. As for size 9, it fits too but only slightly snug. She can't decide as she says both sizes are OK.
Any tips?

I see... since she already know, then measure correctly and get it done correctly the first time. It is a hassle to resize and the workmanship will be not as good as before resizing. Good luck!  thumbup.gif

Yup , now am trying to decide whether should get the tighter one or the not so tight one. It's not tight or loose based on her description for both the sizes.

You also have to see what time you wear the ring. Morning when we wake up, we will usually be slightly "fatter" compare to night time. Personally, I won't recommend the tight one. If they don't offer 8.5, then should go for 9 instead. As long as you shake your hand and it doesn't off that easily, I think is good enough, most importantly, she has to be comfortable with it.

However, if you want the snugly feel and feel that size 9 is not that secure, then can just ask for 8.5. I am no sure Poh Kong got or not, but those vendors that can provide custom rings will be able to do so. Just try more from different shops and see, no need to rush thing... unless you need to hahahaha...  tongue.gif

Thanks for the tip. Most likely I'll ask her to take the size 9. Apparently gold price has dropped too this time . rclxm9.gif

Hello, this diamond has an HCA score of 1.3 and its Enchanted Cut Score is 97.2. Overall, the cut of this diamond is acceptable. It should return relatively more fire because of its 35.5 degrees, but at the expense of some brilliance. Although I prefer a more balanced diamond, but I guess more fire is an acceptable trade-off. 62.3% depth is actually slightly deep, and I guess that's where this diamond loses score on Enchanted Cut Score, but then this is probably due to the medium - slightly thick girdle, and not due to steep crown or steep pavilion, so I would say it is fine. You will be getting a 18k white gold ring, I presume? And Halo Setting will come with side diamonds/melee diamonds, so for the ring setting, it is relatively more expensive than a normal simple 4-prongs/6-prongs solitaire.

Now, for RM 8k, I would say the price is fair, if based on proportions alone. I would not prefer SI1, unless you can see that it is eye-clean.

Alright, time to do my affiliate work tongue.gif =>

If you don't mind dropping the colour to F, you can probably get this:
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/r...id=myengringexp (affiliate link). Even with halo setting customized elsewhere, it will still be cheaper than 8K. And this diamond has images to back it up (which is important). Besides, it is even larger at 0.427ct.

There are no D colour diamonds, but if you want to get an E VS1 Black by Brian Gavin, it will costs you a couple of hundred ringgit - thousand ringgit more. You sacrifice on one grade of colour but you gain on 2 grades of clarity. And Black by Brian Gavin's performance is really top of the line, it is said to be the pinnacle of Brian Gavin's work.

Here are some prices for your to refer. WhiteFlash offers free worldwide shipping, while Brian Gavin does not (so you need to pay for shipping).
[attachmentid=8776001]
[attachmentid=8776004]
[attachmentid=8776005]

Remember to add 6% GST to the loose diamond price. There will be some misc. charges but I will exclude it because it is minimal (< RM 50).

Remember, this is just for reference, and you will need more patient and footwork to get things done in comparison to buying a complete diamond ring. There is also some risk, but relatively low because they use Fedex for shipping.

Alright! That's all for now, hope everything goes well for you! biggrin.gif

Diamond 1 - CBI E VS2 - 0.42ct, 4.84 - 4.86 X 2.97 mm - $1423
Diamond 2 - Black by BGD E VS1 - 0.414ct, 4.81 x 4.83 x 2.96mm - $1430
Diamond 3 - Black by BGD F VS2 - 0.41ct, 4.78 x 4.8 x 2.96mm - $1292

Diamond 1 wins in terms of size compare to Diamond 2, while Diamond 2 wins in terms of clarity.

My preference will be below:
Diamond 2
Diamond 1
Diamond 3

The reason I prefer Black by BGD is because I have confidence with Brian Gavin because of the legacy he left with WhiteFlash ACA. And since this is the pinnacle of his work, I am sold. However, this is because I have experience with WhiteFlash before and read about them. However, do note that BGD does not provide free shipping worldwide. I am not sure how much to be exact, but I am guessing around USD 55. Feel free to check with their helpful online support.

However, for first-timer, I would most likely go with CBI, this is because the images they provide is really excellent, despite the lower quality photos due to their more "old-school" technology compare to BGD's state-of-the-art machine. Other than that, they do provide free worldwide shipping via Fedex and this make it more value for money. Besides, I just noticed their Free Gem Kit with Diamond Purchase contains the following:
Temporary diamond holder which resembles a ring means you can use that temporary holder to propose! After that, you and your love one can go and look for the perfect ring design for your loose diamond. thumbup.gif

If you buying from Brian Gavin, would appreciate if you can add my blog as your referral. If you are buying from High Performance Diamond, I am not affiliate to them, but I know someone who does, if you need help, then I can refer you to him because he knows the owner of HPD personally. wink.gif

Anyway, you can't go wrong with either of these diamonds. Good luck and all the best!  thumbsup.gif

Diamond 2 anytime. Black by Brian Gavin to me is still the best but it carries a slight acceptable premium. However, it is now sold.

As for WhiteFlash, the H&A of the WhiteFlash is not as good as some of the Hearts are slightly not that even in terms of size - The Heart on the 3 o'clock position is slightly larger than a few other Hearts. At the 2 o'clock position there is a darker area beneath the Heart, which I think may caused by some slight shift in the lower girdle (honestly, I don't know what that means, but I shall find out more soon). However, overall, I don't notice that this has any major impact on the diamond's overall look based on the actual diamond image, it is still returning a lot of light based on how brilliant it looks and how red the idealscope is. At 34.7 degree crown angle, it should also return a lot of fire.

Now we look at WF's grading report. Look at all those inclusions, there should be plenty. Then look at the actual diamond image, what can you see? I don't know about you, but I can't see anything that is obvious. However, if you look at the diamond video, you can see the inclusions on the table area, but that is zoom in into like 40x magnification (I think). All ACAs by WF are eye-clean, but please be aware that eye-clean is subject to each vendor's judgement. Take a look at WF's eye-clean definition:
WhiteFlash Eye Clean Explanation
So, if you look like right in front of the diamond like you almost stick your eyes into it, you probably can see the inclusions. But nonetheless, the diamond is perfectly fine if view from a normal daily perspective and it will perform great. It will costs around RM 5321.62 inclusive of GST. Getting a default setting (non-custom) 18k white gold setting from Memory Jewellery will cost you around RM 750.00. And you now have a 0.427ct at approximately RM 6,000! Overall, I would say that this diamond is value for money.

Hope this helps and good luck!

p.s. If you purchasing this diamond, if possible, please add my blog as your referral (no obligations, but I would appreciate that, thank you!) smile.gif

Thanks for that concise reply. I will definitely quote you don't worry. However is there an alternative for diamond 2 in BG's website for now ? At around the same price range as diamond 2 .

If you looking for E VS1 range, there are only 2 diamonds for 40-pointers. One is Black by BGD, the other is normal Signature.
This one below:
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp
(USD 1465 + USD 55 = USD 1520) x 4.375 = RM 6650.00, add GST 6% = RM 7049.00

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp
(USD 1365 + USD 55 = USD 1420) x 4.375 = RM 6212.50, add GST 6% = RM 6585.25

For E VS2 range, only one Black by BGD is available. It looks slightly cooler compare to the Black E VS1 above. But I still prefer VS1 due to clarity and idealscope. However, I prefer the H&A of this diamond.
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp
(USD 1403 + USD 55 = USD 1458) x 4.375 = RM 6378.75, add GST 6% = RM 6761.48

F colour VS1/VS2 range:
This diamond's image is amazing. It is just something I would buy myself. You can see some inclusion spots on the H&A image, but this diamond is eye-clean ultimately:
This one below:
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp
(USD 1292 + USD 55 = USD 1347) x 4.375 = RM 5893.16, add GST 6% = RM 6246.72

Although this diamond is F colour, it looks slightly warmer compare to the F colour above. The idealscope does not look as good as the one above, but that is not the only factor we should consider. The video of this diamond looks promising.
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp
(USD 1323 + USD 55 = USD 1378) x 4.375 = RM 6028.75, add GST 6% = RM 6390.48

This diamond gives the best size. The table is wide and it will look slightly bigger than others. Also, this diamond is VS1, a sweet spot for mind-clean diamond. Like the diamond just above, I would complain about the idealscope a little, but just a little. This is also one of the diamonds I will grab:
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp
(USD 1418 + USD 55 = USD 1473) x 4.375 = RM 6444.38, add GST 6% = RM 6831.04

This is another diamond I will consider. It is just signature cut, not Black by BGD, but the quality is justified by the idealscope and the H&A image.
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp
(USD 1354 + USD 55 = USD 1409) x 4.375 = RM 6164.38, add GST 6% = RM 6534.24

This is yet another signature I will consider. I will probably consider the one above though because this one looks warmer compare to the F colour above.
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp
(USD 1387 + USD 55 = USD 1442) x 4.375 = RM 6308.75, add GST 6% = RM 6687.28

This is another diamond I will buy myself, but it is from another vendor. They provide free shipping to Malaysia and the freebies that come with it is actually pretty decent, especially the temporary loose diamond holder! If you need help to purchase this diamond, I may help to inquire further.
Crafted by Infinity 0.42ct E VS2:
http://highperformancediamonds.com/shop/e/hpd8764/?shop=yes
USD 1474 * 4.375 = RM 6448.75, add GST 6% = RM 6835.68

Tips:
1. My first rule will usually filter out Black by Brian Gavin first and choose from there. This is because this is one level above their normal Signature lines and I want the best diamond I can afford.

2. Then, I will look for the best performance based on the ASET, IdealScope, H&A. I have used "This one below:" for 2 of the diamonds that I think that are the best.

3. Then, I will take a look at the diamond video. It will give you a look and feel of how your diamond will look.

4. Then, I will probably open a few browser tabs and switch between them to look at how the 2 diamonds compare with each other. For example, higher F colour, lower F colour, etc.

p.s. The Forex Rate is based on today's M2U wire transfer rate. Also, the shipment USD 55 is solely based on assumption. It should be lesser I think.
*
I'll be deciding by tonight. Why is wire price cheaper than retail price as posted in BG's website ?

Tried using wire transfer via m2u but they are strict with their timings. Will try again tomorrow. Is it better to wire transfer from a branch ? I find it so difficult doing it online , even with other online banking platforms .
