is it better to buy the stone and ring separately? i have read through the thread and most replies are geared towards getting the stone and ring separately. i am thinking of getting a ring from one of the local shops to avoid unnecessary trouble, appreciate any advise.

QUOTE(kambingkoh @ Jul 5 2018, 12:43 AM) WhiteFlash pricing is abit funny. If you see the 0.305ct F VS2, it is more expensive than the 0.304ct F VVS2. Don't ask me why lol. Between these 4 diamonds, how would you advise someone who knows nothing about diamond on which diamond is the best? Tbh I can barely understand what you are saying above haha. Thanks for your advise in advance. Now, Diamond 1 (affiliate link) looks interesting. The video performance is not bad. Don't worry about too much about the arrows, that are very much well-aligned overall. As for the base of the arrow, I think you probably read what I wrote last time. But now come to think about it, I don't really bother by it too much because WhiteFlash pretty much has pretty top notch arrows in the market already, and this is after-all, man cut diamonds. In fact, the thing that makes me focus more will be the Hearts, this is because while arrows can be pretty much well-aligned, we can't say the same thing for Hearts. It will has to go case-by-case basis. For this diamond, the Hearts have some penalties at 4, 5, 8, and 11 o'cock hearts. There is a small bending tip if we take a good look. This is nothing major, but could be better, if you ask me. Now, the good thing is that the calculated carat weight exactly the same as the diamond's weight, so it means that the cutter cut did not cheat and hide additional carat weight here and there. Will I recommend this stone? Based on the price and the video performance, I would say I will recommend. And don't you worry about the blue, they add extra contrast to the diamond. In fact, I am fond of it. Also, the fat arrows thanks to the lower girdle of 76% will make this diamond return some pretty bold flash. Now, Diamond 2 (affiliate link)'s video is also nice, but seems to lose slightly to the other diamonds listed here if we consider the video alone. If you ask me, this diamond can perform in real life. The proportions are very good and I can't complain about it. The Hearts is also better than the diamond above. The calculated ideal weight is exactly the same as the actual weight as well. Despite the video does not look as good as the others, but with this quality, I may buy this one. Now, Diamond 3 (affiliate link) has excellent video. The top among these 4 if you ask me. If you take a look at the actual diamond image, the arrow at the 12 o'clock position is shorter than the arrow at the 6 o'clock position. but that did not bother me at all, after knowing how well it can perform. The dark spots that can be spotted on the IdealScope can actually increase a diamond' scintillation. In fact, this dark spots should be highly sought-after because of the better scintillation. If we look at the Heart image in the cert, you will also notice that the border of the Hearts are emitting some brightness at the border, which I believe can improve performance. The calculated ideal weight is 0.315ct, so it is 0.001 heavier than the actual weight of 0.314ct. Now, did you see the pairing between the table width and the total diamond depth? 57% paired with 61.2%. This shows that my wide table should paired with a diamond with shallow diamond total depth. Among all, this is the best and probably can really be your pie. Now, Diamond 4 (affiliate link) has some seriously good video as well! Again the Hearts & Arrows look good. Although it is only a F VS1, the price is more expensive than the 0304cr F VVS2 I mentioned earlier. I am not sure the real reason behind, but I believe that the performance maybe one of the deciding factors for this to be more expensive. Again, the calculated weight is 0.307ct, but the diamond is cut to maximize its performance because the cutter did not cheat. Now, this (affiliate link) is a notable mention. The video performance is excellent, so are the Hearts & Arrows. The calculated ideal weigh is 0.310ct while the actual weight is 0.311ct. However, since the difference is so small, I can only say that the cutters are still cutting this diamond to maximize its beauty. Can really consider this. In conclusion, I will get the "pie" diamond first, if not, I will consider the last diamond I mentioned above. p.s. Don't worry about the arrows too much. Also don't worry about the blue found in ASET scope. They are can add contrast to the diamond. Let me know if you need futher assistance. |

QUOTE(chrisderick88 @ Aug 2 2018, 11:31 AM) I went to Mid Valley's branch. So anyone interested can PM me, I can give the name/number of the person in charge. She's quite helpful! She committed 1 month, but the total time was 3 weeks only. Also yes she did show me the laser inscription 3 times, once before I even commit to anything, once before sending to factory and once when i get the whole ring. I have the same question too. How can we know it’s the same stone that we have passed to them?Yes, one thing I was wondering is while it's the same stone when they pass it back to me, is it possible that some part was chipped? How can I even know? Also yes they have both white gold & platinum if we ask for setting only. I think the price difference is like RM300. I'm cheapo but for those wearing it often, platinum is a good choice. Estrella is platinum. I can say D&P's workmanship is quite good, and the design is modern and beautiful. Thanks bro Koh. |

QUOTE(zDarkForceSz @ Feb 10 2019, 09:50 AM) Thanks for the info! You bought the wedding band before proposal ring?We ordered the wedding band from SK after second visit. Since she feel it is comfortable (went around all mall in klang valley) and she likes the eternity ring design. Was told waiting time of 3 months (since we only be using end of the year) to create a new rings. Maybe I will check out proposal ring from iDo Jewellery after their CNY break. Yes I might need to look up some weddings bands soon. Might check up your recommendation too. Thanks. |

QUOTE(xDingx @ Aug 3 2020, 09:44 AM) I am interested in the Brian Gavin diamond that you shared... but is it safe to buy the diamond from oversea and get it ship to Malaysia? I am a bit worried to buy such an expensive thing online from overseas.. Can i just buy the diamond and buy the ring setting in Malaysia? That is what I did. I still think buying the diamond from them and getting the ring setting done locally is the best idea as it is easier to make adjustments if required. |
