i bought this in the end,

Estrella series from D&P, ~RM15.6k

is this a well-cut diamond?

Also, the ring is too small sad.gif can fit on pinky finger but not the ring finger. Will enlarging the ring cause any damage to the casing?

Just dropping by to reassure you on your purchase. Other than perfect hearts and arrows, the diamond & platinum Estrella diamonds are also graded by Sarine, which is a certificate to measure the brilliance of a diamond. Only those with exceptional perfect score can get into the collection.

Not many perfect hearts and arrows brand outside, even the international ones, dare to set this as a criteria as many of their diamonds will suddenly be not eligible.

Look at it this way. Very very few triple excellent diamonds have either maximum brilliance or perfect hearts and arrows. Not all maximum brilliance diamonds have perfect hearts and arrows. Vice versa, not all perfect hearts and arrows diamonds have maximum brilliance.

So to check all criteria, you are definitely getting one of the few rare and perfect cut diamond already. Pricing wise is also definitely cheaper than a lot of legit perfect hearts and arrows brand. Using the word legit here cause there are too many fake perfect hearts and arrows brand outside. Some of them have very loose criteria that it is not too much different from a normal triple excellent diamond.

I’m a frequent buyer of their Estrella series so I could be biased hehe. But just sharing what I know here after surveying around most jewelers outside.

As for resizing, it is pretty normal. Most jewelers do it for free.

Hello, any recommendations to get wedding band? Budget within 5k.
*
With a 5k budget, you can actually get both your wedding bands at most of the jewellery stores in Malaysia. Of course except the branded ones haha

The usual ones will be like Diamond & Platinum, Love & Co, Goldheart, Tomei, which I believe are available nationwide. Their designs are usually more classic and comes with comfort fit.

If you are within Klang Valley, you can also consider Lavin New York and Tailoredjewel. I see some of their designs are quite interesting and might be able to get it even below 3k, depending on the gold weight as well as whether they are comfort fit.

If you are planning to wear it long term, recommend you to get comfort fit as it will be alot more comfortable. But of course it will be more expensive (around 4k-6k total for both) since it is full gold instead of empty inside the ring.

Enjoy shopping and trying hehhe!

Dear kambingkoh,

I have surveyed Degem and 0.3 carat is about rm7.7k.
Do you think I should go Zcova for better value for money and higher carat?
*
For that price, I believe you are looking at their lazare diamond, which is their super ideal cut series. Layman term for super ideal cut means they have to sacrifice the diamond size just to cut it perfectly to get better shine. That's why it's more expensive

If you are looking for value for money, you should tell the sales person you are looking for GIA diamond. The last when I surveyed, their GIA diamond is priced very competitively. 0.3 carat, you can get your whole ring ard 3.5k. I think you can also check their gia prices in their website.

That's why you need to know what you want. Do you want bigger size or do you want better quality?

But no harm comparing prices around. You should always survey/research different jewellers for prices and quality before settling on your diamond ring. The after sale service is also very important.

Hi all sifu here,

This diamond ring from Diamond & Platinum (Estralla) caught my eye. It comes with IGI cert and Sarine Light Performance Report.

1 piece of 0.3 ct
16 pieces of 0.04 ct
3 ex
F colour
VVS2
IGI Cert No. : 537233868

It cost RM8k inclusive of the platinum ring, is it a good buy?

I am familiar with Estrella so I think i can give you some input here smile.gif

Estrella Diamond is a super ideal cut diamond, meaning the diamond is cut to the ultimate best proportion and has very perfect hearts and arrows. All of them come with ultimate 3 star grading from Sarine report (most reputable light performance lab) to prove what they claim. To achieve ultimate 3 star, they have to get the highest score for all criteria (brilliance, fire, scintillation and light symmetry). That is already like reaching top notch in terms of cut quality. You can't get any better than that.

Hence it is only fair if you compare Estrella with Whiteflash's price (mentioned by Sifu Kambing). I have seen a Whiteflash too, which is also a super ideal cut, I would say both qualities are on par.

If you want to compare with generic GIA diamond, Diamod & Platinum also offers normal GIA diamond. You can check them in their website. Currently i see that they are offering 0.3 carat F VVS2 3EX None at RM2,900. Inlcuding a platinum pave setting of RM2,000+, probably cost around RMRM5,000?

Hi Kambingkoh sifu

I see you use whiteflash when checking out the diamond . Issit more cheaper to buy from whiteflash and do setting locally ?  For setting which place is recommended ?
*
Whiteflash is a super ideal cut company. The prices will be more expensive by 20 to 40% compared to generic GIA diamond as super ideal cut requires carat weight to be sacrificed for a better shine.

If you are aiming for top quality diamond then it makes sense to look at super ideal cut. But if you are not very particular and just want a diamond ring, then you should just go for GIA diamond.

Actually there is always this misconception that buying diamond overseas will be cheaper. In fact, the local jewellers (those with GIA listing online) are now very competitive that even the biggest US online player, Blue Nile is not that cheap.

For example a GIA 0.3 carat H VS2 3EX None with starting price of 18k setting:-

Baemont : RM2,069 + RM1,399 (setting starting price) = RM3,468
Diamond & Platinum : RM2,170 + RM900 (setting starting price) = RM3,070
Lavin New York : RM4,050 (inclusive of simple setting)
Zcova : RM2,180 + RM1,650 (setting starting price) = RM3,830
Michael Trio (Singapore) : RM2,274 + RM1,584 (setting starting price) = RM3,858
Blue Nile : USD 421+ USD 600 (setting starting price) = RM4,850

*Very important to look at setting price too as some will charge cheap for diamond but high for setting (ie Blue Nile).

Of course, this is a simple search based on 4Cs, without taking into account the type or location of inclusion, the actual proportion etc. But you get the idea. All of them is cheaper than Blue Nile.

thanks for the clear explanation. Now i know how to compare.

Even singapore company seems to be competitive however we need to include shipping fee.
Thanks for recommendation!

I think Michael Trio is offering free shipping too. And you can get a free ring sizer too if you want.

But more like you have to find out the custom clearance process. smile.gif

Hi, thanks for your listing on all the engagement ring company in Malaysia as currently I am surveying on engagement ring.
Going through your list on these brands, I managed to find out Diamond & Platinum and Lavin New York is having the cheapest price among them.
With example of GIA 0.3carat H VS2 3EX and None Fluorescence with 18K settings:
Diamond & Platinum:
<a href='https://pictr.com/images/2022/11/09/EZXTRX.md.jpg' target='_blank'>https://pictr.com/images/2022/11/09/EZXTRX.md.jpg </a>
Lavin New York:
<a href='https://pictr.com/images/2022/11/09/EZXer8.md.jpg' target='_blank'>https://pictr.com/images/2022/11/09/EZXer8.md.jpg </a>
Is Lavin New York a good place to visit?
As I had told that they have physical diamond on hand, and I am able to see the diamond which listed on their website on my own eye and not only checking on the spec on the paper itself.
I believe that it is important to see on the physical diamond before I make any purchase on the internet (since it is something that expensive and meaningful)
Can anyone give me a suggestion on which one to go for? stars:
*
My apologies i made a mistake in my previous post. The RM4,050 (inclusive of simple setting) is Tailored Jewel. Lavin New York is RM2,243 + RM970 (setting starting price) = RM3,213.

This is the correct one:-

Baemont : RM2,069 + RM1,399 (setting starting price) = RM3,468
Diamond & Platinum : RM2,170 + RM900 (setting starting price) = RM3,070
Lavin New York : RM2,243 + RM970 (setting starting price) = RM3,213
Tailored Jewel :RM4,050 (inclusive of simple setting)
Zcova : RM2,180 + RM1,650 (setting starting price) = RM3,830
Michael Trio (Singapore) : RM2,274 + RM1,584 (setting starting price) = RM3,858
Blue Nile : USD 421+ USD 600 (setting starting price) = RM4,850

*But just to note these are not all the engagement ring companies in Malaysia. I'm merely stating those that have the generic GIA listing online. There are still the bigger retailers like Tomei, Habib, Lazo Diamond, Degem, SK, Love and Co, Tiffany etc, which offers various type of diamonds (could be ideal cut, super ideal cut or even lab grown). Some also offer very good deals for GIA but may not list them online.

Anyway, unless the location is too far from you, if not it is indeed important to be able to view the real diamond with your own eyes as sometimes, certificate does not tell the full story.

And yes i think Lavin New York is a good place to visit as I have heard good reviews about them. But my recommendation is to always visit a few more different jewellers to see which one can give you a better offer (including recommendation based on diamond proportion, after sales service etc). You never know what you are missing out from others if you only visit one store. tongue.gif
