After reading thousand of comment here, below is my finding for a "good" diamond:-
Crown angle: 34 - 35 Pavilion angle: 40 - 41 Total depth: 62% max Pavilion: 43.5% Color: D - F, avoid G and after HCA < 2.0 VS1/2 at least
Is this true?

QUOTE(kambingkoh @ Jun 8 2017, 10:48 PM) Actually colour doesn't play any major role in determining a good diamond. It is more of personal taste. Some like it abit warm, some like it abit white. As for clarity, VS1/2 can give peace of mind and is more budget friendly. But sometimes SI1 can be pretty decent and eye-clean probably even when viewed at close range. If that is the case, it will have the best value. You are fairly safe if you buy VS1/2 clarity diamonds even without looking at the actual diamond (not encouraged though). VS2 may cause problem but it is very rare. As for SI1, it will be best to view the actual diamond image, the location of the inclusions, and the type of inclusions. Usually I tend to avoid diamond that has feather inclusion near the edge of the diamond, even for a VS2, but that is just personal preference. However, if the diamond has great light return and great hearts and arrows, then I will consider it too. Pavilion angle should be 40.6 to 40.9. Pavilion depth is <= 43.5%. Thanks for the info, luckily i found this postbefore making a purchase

QUOTE(bb100 @ Jun 8 2017, 07:19 PM) If the proportions are ideal, you can lower your colour grade to G. Cuz you can hardly see the diamond's colour with flashes of light coming at you all at once. Grade G diamond normally will be cheaper right? Compare to higher grade.

Dear all sifu, after survey on the aundrey's website, here us the shortlisted diamond which i think is good diamond:- 1. 7251743066 - F, VS2 2. 2257766291 - E, VS1 3. 7256682178 - D, VVS2 4. 5253640918 - D, VS1 5. 2356590672 - D, VS2 6. 1259512301 - E, VS1 7. 1253751322 - E, VS2 8. 7251598912 - D, VS1 9. 6255180911 - E, VVS1 10. 6252322963 - E, VS1 Im going to buy my 1st proposal ring very soon, need some idea / recommendation for the above One question, for diamond, is it bigger (or heavier) is always better? I mean eg to avoid 0.35 carat take 0.3 or 0.4, got such thing? -------------------------------- Update#1 I just got quoted for diamond 10 with ring setting for RM7,380. Is this price ok? QUOTE(bb100 @ Jun 9 2017, 12:27 PM) Wow your "shortlist" is quite a long one hahaha. Let sifu kambingkoh do the hard work for you lahh. Bigger is always better for the receiver. But trust me bro, this isn't always the case. Let's say you maximise carat weight and got a 1.02 H SI2 Ex VG VG, while one of your friends got a 0.77 E VS1 3Ex. On paper, your 1.02 would appear much bigger than your friend's, and you will instantly have the bragging rights cuz of the magic 1-ct number. But when the two ladies compare their diamond's bling factor, I can tell you that your wife's face will not be blinging after that! Drillz: The diamond on your left is a complete mess. I see, my budget only allow me to have a 0.4ct diamond Which element affect the bling factor the most?

QUOTE(bb100 @ Jun 9 2017, 02:30 PM) Cut bro, cut! That's why people say CUT IS KING. However, don't be misled by the phrase "triple excellent ideal cut". They are good triple excellent ideal cuts and bad triple excellent ideal cuts out there. It all depends on the proportions of your stone. I believe sifu Kambingkoh will be in a better position to advice you on this. This diamond specs (gia 1253751322) like excellent, 100% perfect cut + 0.9 hca scoring.

Just visited SK, they promote me a 10 arrow 10 angle diamond name "all love" series, and they claim that they are the only retailer for the 10 arrow diamond in msia, and provice a cert with "1F" certified, is that true? The price is double compare to normal 8 arrow diamond. Anyone can clarify.

QUOTE(bb100 @ Jun 11 2017, 02:19 PM) Yup, Wah Chan has the best diamond deals. Their salesperson also friendlier. I learnt a lot speaking to one of their lady salesperson there. I went to quite a few shops in Midvalley too when I was starting my diamond hunt. Among them, Goldheart has the worst customer service. They macam reluctant to serve me when I said "I am currently surveying for the right deal." By the way bro, mind sharing the specs of your diamond? The paper spec is D, VS2, 3ex, 0.4ct. Although this is not the perfect cut but after seeing the real product, it still can be accepted. I choose their tiffany setting and quite happy with the purchase, not like SK keep pushing u to more expensive one and one thing is SK got 70% discpunt for their normal diamond which make me stay away from their brand, my though was like "wtf 20k++ item discount 70% diamond, who will buy?" Lol This post has been edited by Hawaiiii: Jun 11 2017, 04:13 PM

QUOTE(kambingkoh @ Jun 11 2017, 06:26 PM) What is a 1F cert? I think yes, they are the only one that sells 10 hearts and arrows. It rmb I was excited when I first saw it But I rmb that what I saw at their shelf did not impress me. Anyway, at the end of the day, extra hearts and extra arrows are just gimmick to me. It should be pretty nice if they can cut to that standard, but they have to back their claim with images. And I am pretty sure they won't do so. And double the price is just plain ridiculous. They claimed that the 1F cert is more professional than the standard gia, ya the price is double for the same weight compare to 8 arrow one. I also think thats the marketing gimmick too, but in fact, the diamond is more shining to 8 arrow no doubt, or maybe they show me the top 10 arrow vs the 8 arrow? Not sure as im not an expert also.
