JP probably gives you the best value for a brick-and-mortar store style of business. They will educate you properly before a purchase and will show you all the necessary images - ASET, Idealscope, H&A, to determine the performance of the diamond. You can go to their Youtube channel and get a gist of it first as they have some educational videos. If I am in SG, I will probably go to JP myself as well if I am looking for a diamond.

Getting the setting done in MY may worth it or may not worth it, it is best if you find out the price of the ring setting you want first and see what price the jewellers quote you, if the price is not far off, must well do it in one place to reduce the hassle.

Only heard about Michael Trio, never explore further about them before, you may however visit them as well since you have plenty of time before next year.

I did not have a good experience with Michael Trio.

Went there and told them that I am looking for a heart shaped diamond and gave them my 4C requirements. Then they showed me a few ready stocks but were not to my liking. So they told me to give them a day to source for a few more heart shapes and that they will contact me once they are ready. Looked at a few of their ring designs before leaving.

The next day they contacted me and asked me to go to their shop again to "view" the stones. When I was there, the sales assistant whipped out a few sheets of printed GIA certs and asked me to study the certs and let him know if I prefer any one of them. He then proceeded to take out his invoice book and started filling in my details. I opened eyes big big, told him to hold his horses and asked him how to choose. He said they did not have the actual stones with them and these were located somewhere in their "warehouse" so all I could do was to look at the proportions, the 4Cs etc. from the papers.

I straight thanked him for his efforts and left the place.

My heart diamond from JannPaul is also flawless.

Buy from all. Then compared and see which one you want to use.

Both are good companies, produces good diamonds. JP's price I think is more expensive than WF/BGD, but if you are in SG, I think you can get the full JP experience by visiting their actual store and probably find the extra money worthwhile. However, if you are not in SG, then buying online is the same from whichever vendor. I will just list down what I think:

JP - Good optical precision, professional sales consultant to guide you, extensive inventory, therefore, somehow it is easier to get what you desire in terms of 4Cs. However, as mentioned, slighly pricey if not mistaken. Got SI from both reputable lab. So if you prefer GIA, they have it.

WF - Value for money price, inventory size is okay, but need more effort to filter out diamonds with better optical precision. Their recent stones that fall under ACA collection series are pretty good though.

BGD - Good optical precision, inventory size is not as great as the others. Slightly more expensive than WF, but should still be cheaper than JP.

Of course JP still win if you somehow need to visit them for whatever reasons because they are just down south.

Of course, I am calculating using Malaysia 6% GST, if you are in SG then is 7% VAT.

So unless you really want to buy at a brick-and-mortar store than no choice la, but that's more than RM 1500 extra.

Diamond can be received within a week, for example if you buy Monday, you most likely will receive it by Thursday. This is of course provided there are no holidays in the US, and also no hiccup (touch wood) for the whole process, which is usually the case.

As for temporary ring holder, BGD does provide if you ask them to clip the diamond on it and put it in a ring box instead of using a loose diamond box. This has been tried by other ppl before.

As for WhiteFlash, no one actually told me they have tried it and I have never try before as well, so I can't say. But you can try ask. My guess is that they may be able to provide as well.
