Hi guys and experts.. today I went to tomei, Poh Kong and SK to survey aproposal diamond ring.

I look for perfect cut diamond such as triple excellent.. with budget 6k max. I found most GIA certified around that price is 0.30 carat, D to F color and mostly VVS1 to VVS2. I found one D colour, Vvs2, 0.31 carat, GIA certified is price around 5459 after discount from 7799..

It isn't the best price?

I forget to take photo but I'll try to get the diamond ring gia number tmr with salesgirl for u guys have a look..

Best price depends on the diamond's cut/proportions. Looking forward to see the GIA cert. wink.gif

GIA number is nothing secretive. You can always download the grading report from their website. Wah Chan will give you the cert number as far as I know.

Depends on the cut. If it is in ideal proportions, then it is quite okay to be around 6K. If not, then it is not. I can afterall settle for a D VS1, 0.313 WhiteFlash ACA @USD 972 (Use exchange rate 4.57) Add on 6% GST and a custom setting by Memory Jewellery, it will be around RM 5700 to RM 5800. If you take predefined setting from Memory Jewellery, you can probably settle at somewhere around RM 5500 to RM 5600. If you want setting with palladium content, then you can look for iDo Jewellery, which is more epxenaive, but final price should be around RM 6500 to RM 6600.

If you want a price range on how much a 0.3ct costs, then you can survey on Audrey's website. Just google Audrey's Malaysia.

And last 2 years USD did not shoot up. Lol. And also, not all the diamonds are cut to the same proportions, so beware if something is too cheap to be true, unless you only want to focus on carat, colour, and clarity only, but not cut.

Please see remark at the side of each GIA cert number. The acceptable one is okay, but since the pairing is steep crown + steep pavilion, the performance should be so so only as well. And now I notice it has twinning wisps and feather with unknown location! Check if the feather is near the edge or not.

It really depends on how much each of these are selling. My guess is that diamonds that are for sale are usually so-so in terms of performance. They won't put up something that can guarantee to sell easily. If you noticed, you hardly come by diamonds between 34 degrees to 35 degrees crown angle... that angle is the ideal angle for round brilliant.

As advised, please share the price as well.

Edit:
This WhiteFlash ACA: https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/r...id=myengringexp (affiliate link) will cost you around RM 3628.30 using exchange rate of 4.57. It is a 0.301 F VS2. I usually will compare to what I can get from WhiteFlash and Brian Gavin to what I can get locally.

Updated with Enchanted Cut Score (https://enchanteddiamonds.com/cut-score-calculator).

I assume the price includes ring setting.

After viewing at the price, I will probably buy from Brian Gavin Diamonds + Custom made ring setting from Memory Jewellery.

Take a look at my breakdown:

Preference top to bottom (all are affiliate links)

Vendor 1: iDo simple custom 18k white gold (with palladium) 4 prongs solitaire: RM 1800
Vendor 2: Memory Jewellery simple custom 18k white gold (without palladium) 4 prongs solitaire: RM 1000

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp 0.303 D VS1, USD 888, exch rate: 4.57, RM 4058.16 + 6% = RM 4301.65
Vendor 1: RM 6101.65
Vendor 2: RM 5301.65

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp, 0.302 E VS2, USD 769, exch rate: 4.57, RM 3514.33 + 6% = RM 3725.19
Vendor 1: RM 5525.19
Vendor 2: RM 4725.19

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp, 0.303 F VS2, USD 735, exch rate: 4.57, RM 3358.95 + 6% = RM 3560.49
Vendor 1: RM 5360.49
Vendor 2: RM 4560.49

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds...?a_aid=myengexp, 0.322 E VS2, USD 743, exch rate: 4.57, RM 3395.51 + 6% = RM 3599.24
Vendor 1: RM 5399.24
Vendor 2: RM 4599.24

Shipment should be around USD 55. Almost missed this out. Using phone to edit this. So you have to do the math. wink.gif

Note: Today M2U USD Forex as of now is 4.4910. I put higher at 4.5700 as buffer. So in reality, total should be cheaper, if this remains. wink.gif

Just sharing for your reference. If you wish to buy from BGD, I am happy to assist. wink.gif

Thanks for your suggestions and professional advise.. Learnt some basic knowledge from here..

In the end i go for the one GIA no. 7228757937, 0.36ct, F, VS2, 3ex with the 18k ring.. With total 5150.. I go for bigger carats with colour grade sacrifiece from D to F.. But i do believe my gf will not notice the diff between D & F easily.. Mostly girl will go for size.. Only this one and another 0.30, D,VVS2, 3ex have proper alignment of arrows from my noobie view under microscope.. Since i cant check the love from the ring, so i make sure the arrows is clearly view from top and have eyes clear clarity.. So among the last 2 options, i go for 0.36 cause visible size difference among these 2.. Attached 2 blurry images of my purchase.. Lighting is not ideal in my room and use smartphone to capture.. Not focus well.. The one i found all are almost same design as this.

not that's fast.. haha.. i just buy it first and wait for right timing.. i believe it will be the time when my new house is completed by year end or early of next year.

Great! The D VVS2 is really not worth it. 32 degree crown angle will sacrifice a lot of fire! So great choice there! wink.gif Nice ring setting btw.

thank you.. really difficult to learn all these.. but i think we will try to get the best preferred options that come within our budgets..

Try to make it below 2. If really 5, then yes, straight out reject.

My friend bought 1 with GIA report.. 1198416080.. Seem like the HCA score and cut score is not so good..

Diamond cut too deep. Should try to maintain below 62%. This one is 62.9%.

Pavilion angle is 41.4 - Guaranteed got light leakage.

This will probably be a dull diamond.

Enchanted Cut Score: 76.9

This diamond is graded on Feb. 23, 2015. Usually 40 pointers go off pretty fast, especially good ones. If your friend just bought recently, then that means this diamond is not preferred by those who on the look-out for diamonds since 2015.

How much he paid for?

He didn't tell me. But after I check the HCA and cut score, I didn't tell anything to him as well. Since everything have happened, as long as someone like it then it's okay. Doesn't matter have resale value or not, we don't hope our wife take and sell it too hehe
