Hi guys,

I just got myself a 0.37ct, F color, VS2 at Rm3.6k for the diamond itself and RM4.2k including the band from Wah Chan in MV. Just wondering if it was a justified buy? GIA details here: https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=6252616392

Spent plenty of hours surveying few jewellery outlets in 1U and MV and finally made a decision that's just slightly outside of my budget range.

I won't say you overpaid for your diamond and the price for the band is reasonable enough.

What do you think about the diamond when you first saw it? Do you like it better than the others offered to you?

Thanks for the reply.

Saw a few options other than the one i bought. 1 or 2 were a grade or two higher in terms of colour and clarity (D, VS1 and E, VVS2) but smaller by weight (0.30 carat) and saw another one with a lower colour grade (G, VS2) with the same weight (0.37 carat). After much consideration, me and my partner thought that paying more for the slightly smaller diamond wasn't all that worth it and I didn't like the G-coloured diamond because can somewhat see a difference even with the naked eye with the shine when compared with the F-coloured diamond.

Did go to other places to like DeGem, Love & Co, Diamonds & Platinum, etc. Earlier in the day, was at DeGem and they had a loose diamond from their supplier (I think?) that I was interested in. F, VS1, 0.30 carat but wasn't 3Ex but no chance to have a view of it on that day itself. Got a quote first. Then only proceeded to Wah Chan. In the end, chose the one I bought as my partner was happy with the band (and setting) and the look of diamond size on her finger.

By right the G colour diamond should come close enough to the F colour diamond. I believe the cut of that diamond is not good.

And bro, you brought your gf along to pick the diamond and ring and she likes it... that's the most important part! haha!

You mentioned band... you referring to the wedding band or the ring setting?

Hahah yes, my partner mentioned this ring can't just be a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of ring. She wants to wear it often (i.e date nights, wedding dinners, company functions, family gatherings, etc). So better bring her along to see what she truly is happy with. The only surprise element i can give right now is the proposal itself laugh.gif

Was referring to the ring setting as in the setting type, thickness of the hoop itself, etc. Haha not wedding band. My bad.
