Hi guys, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to desktop building and would appreciate your help and advise for my first gaming rig . rclxub.gif

What i'm looking for is something that I can use to learn to OC and play most new games on high settings and has the option to be upgraded in the near future.

My Budget is around 2.5k but I'm trying to spend less so I can save up for future upgrades

The config I had in mind:

MSI z97 Gaming 3 - Price Unknown sad.gif (estimated around RM490 ?)
Intel G2358 3.2GHZ - Price Estimated around RM 180~190 ?

Sapphire R9 270 OC boost - RM 629
OR
MSI R9 270 Gaming 2G - RM 699

Corsair H60 - (If I recall correctly) RM 329
Corsair Value Ram 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz - RM249
FSP HEXA 500W PSU - RM 149
WD Blue 1TB -RM 174

Reasoning : Planning to OC the cpu to 4.5 GHZ. I plan to upgrade to the newer i5 family once it is released and OC that too. Therefore I didnt want to spend too much on a processor.

Also I'm not sure where to get the MSI parts that I have listed as I have checked a few LYN price lists and cant find them sad.gif Thats why my prices are estimates

the confirmed prices are the ones I've picked up from the posts before me. whistling.gif

Once again thanks for your time and sorry for the somewhat confusing post sweat.gif

newer i5?? you mean Broadwell?? and for future proofing some things, your PSU can't be that cheap already as you might wanna pick up a better GPU also because you're gonna OCing...also, would you want to wait for DDR4?

lets start with this and adjust it as we go...Try:

Pentium G3258 RM235
Asrock Z97 Pro 4 RM479
Kingston Value RAM 8GB RM244
WD Blue 1TB -RM 189
Leadtek GTX760 RM799
Seasonic M12II 620W (New Edition, Full Modular) RM359
BitFenix Neos (RM169)

Total RM2459

Price from Idealtech

Yup Broadwell (5th gen if I am not mistaken) and yes I am also looking towards DDR4 but that is not something I would jump in immediately on launch.

About the PSU, I'm not too familiar with the brands thats why I was looking at the estimated wattage consumption of the system I had in mind and just picked one withing range ~

Also your recommended build didn not include any aftermarket coolers ? Or can the stock cooler be sufficient to handle the G2358 on OC ?

@rav3n82
Just saw your post

Intel Pentium G3258 – RM239
Asrock Z97M Anniversary – RM349
Corsair Value Ram 8GB DDR3 1600MHz – RM244
Intel 530 Series 120GB SSD - RM289
WD Caviar Blue 1TB HDD - RM174
Leadtek GTX 760 – RM799
Cooler Master K380 Casing - RM149
FSP Hexa+ 550W PSU - RM169
Lite-On 24x DVDRW – RM59
Cooler Master Hyper 212X - RM149

Total - RM2620 (prices are from Viewnet)

Also is the SSD really worth it ? as in will there be a significant noticeable increase in performance when gaming ?
And will the Cooler Master Hyper 212x be able to handle the OC on the G2358 ? (I am unsure of how these coolers handle OC and went with the safest bet ~ )

EDIT : also is the Leadtek GTX 760 @RM 799 the 2GB version ? I'm a little confused about the card as there are so many versions of it and so many diffrent reviews dating Back to June 13
