As topic, i took advantage of price deduction on AMD Dualcore processor i've change my Proc from Venice 3000+ to Manchester 3800+ x2 ,

Previously i ran my Twinmos UTT-CH5 250MHZ 2-2-3-6 on my Venice, after change to 3800+ x2 its Fail Memtest 86 cry.gif ( downclocked my 3800+ x2 to multiplier x9 )

i was wondering, could this case happend ? Different processor will affect RAM ocability ? Any 1 experience this kind of problem ?

currently run my 3800+ x2 @ 240Mhz 2.5-3-38 sweat.gif

thanks for advance notworthy.gif

Perhaps is an overlook of forgetting to up d VDDR after d switch of CPU? tongue.gif:

Theorectically, u may be rite as all K8 CPUs have their memory controllers integrated into 'em & d yield of d CPU may very well influence yr RAM settings besides their margin of o/ckability.

RAM Speed depends on CPU speed and also how MOBO handle both in synchronous to each other ...

Make it simple , if one of them is slow and one is fast , there is much bottleneck and conflict to happen .

Anyway since X2 cant OC high , the bus speed will be lower and hence the Speed of overall Component on the MoBo .
Anyway , X2 is Better processor than your Previous .

Yes.

Why? Because K8 memory controller is integrated in the processor. Different processor behaves differently, especially in the case of Venice vs Manchester.

Thanks First

Dude 8tvt got guideline for me the X2 should able to oc till wat level ? tongue.gif Currently my x3800+ x2 is running @ 2400 with lose Ram timing, already pass 2hr Prime test (surely will aim for 8hr + Prime Stable) , i wish i can find higher Clock Speed, But temp for my 3800+ X2 is damn high sweat.gif ( 38 idle / 62 Full Load ) doh.gif while my previous Venice 2250Mhz is just (31 idle / 38 Full load ).

Thanks

But it take much much more time to load windows XP .....
Old venice run at 2250Mhz (250*9)
New 3800+ currently run 2400Mhz (240*10) sweat.gif

Is it need to format windows ?

i've tried mine until 2.45g and than stop.. coz using default cooler..
temp around 57~ onload
the max i think it's can goes till 2.6-2.7.. but voltage supply 1.6v like that maybe more which i think is not safe... again temp can reach >70C..

i felt that using dual core @ 2ghz more than enough so running at stock right now..

if u want better cooler search for zalman cnps9500 AM2.. Scythe Mine
atleast can use on s939 and am2... not limited to s939 only.. so if want to move to am2 still can use it..

Yes ! I think i need to get a better hsf cause i m currently run my x3800+ x2 on 2400Mhz @ 1.30*113% vcore @ 240Mhz 2-2-2-5 3.1Vdimm When Prime 2004sp Temp Goes up to 63C , wow...

i think my x3800+ also can go up to atleast 2.5-2.6 but i dont like mem divider, so i will stick to my current 2.4G, cannot push my ram to higher speed ady . even lose ram timing also cant get 250Mhz sweat.gif
