QUOTE(whitesabre @ May 14 2014, 03:48 PM) Johnson only 30, another 3 yrs to go if he goes to the lower clubs. As for Reina, he's only 32 and goalies have a history of long lifespan in football. See Van der Sar and Buffon? So why not 10mil. But someone said his release clause only 4.5mil...which means doomsday. They can play, but I don't think anyone willing to pay more than 10 mil for a player that already 30 or more. You need super duper negotiator to convince buying club to fork out such a money, by then I think every club also chasing after the negotiator.

QUOTE(whitesabre @ May 14 2014, 04:25 PM) Actually this is somewhat true. Touch wood to say, what if he gets injured during WC...that would hit a huge hole into BR's plans. It's very risky when we invest too much on a single player. Fingers crossed that all our players come back as fit as a dragon. But if the player does shine during WC, price tag surely ballooning. So either way, there is risk.

QUOTE(lp16 @ May 16 2014, 12:07 PM) We need a powerful CF like Drogba. Lukaku seems right but JM will never sell him to us. Anyway, with an increase income from TV rights, CL matches and finishing 2nd, need to invest in quality. I've always felt younger players need to play at least in cup ties. Our bench felt so light compared to Chelsea, City. We went far in league this season due to our lack of european matches. Next season how we cope will be interesting. I don't think BR fancy this kind of striker. So far BR transfer recruit generally were not physical built one, and Liv was not playing like Heskey-Owen combo type whereby GK pumped up the ball, one headed down to partner to strike goal. Currently Liv lack of players that can shoot from distancel, like Hamann, Berger and young Gerrard.

QUOTE(solstice818 @ May 16 2014, 03:19 PM) The only reason (i think) BR not fancy physically built striker is probably because they are not technically gifted as those smaller size striker and the fact that BR's tactics now rely more on pace means that most if not all of the big strikers would have no chance of featuring in his plan because of the lack of pace. However, given how pacey Lukaku( and the latest name linked happened to be Cavani if Suarez is sold) is, I reckon these names might be considered. Let's also not forget these two are never one-trick player who just hold the ball up for others. If anything, I would say that physically built striker would be considered only if they have techniques and skills that BR wants and not some one trick big man upfront. Then again, let's not forget BR is one who change from time to time... He changed his formation and philosophy to make sure he gets the best from the team. The fact that we dont have a plan B (which chelsea game has shown us that we can be stopped) probably means that a different kind of striker might be brought in to cater the need for fresh ideas and creativity. Wouldn't surprise if we get a certain Dzeko,Lukaku type of players but let's not get your hope too high because we all know the priorities lie on 1 DM, 1-2 CD, 1 RB (if johnson leaves), 1 GK (for backup) and 1 LB ... Striker is probably the least we need now that Borini is back. Get one that can shot fiercely from long range, and thunderbolt open the buses.

QUOTE(prash @ May 22 2014, 01:35 PM) i just hope we dont screw up it like the last time we finished 2nd in 08/09 i think. so much potential but we had terrible transfer market and we finished 7th the following season. Lallana signing worries me cause i feel there are so many cheaper alternatives. Paying the english player premium. If not mistaken, there were plenty behind the scene issues that resulted finishing 7th in the following season.

QUOTE(8sg9ft @ May 26 2014, 12:34 PM) What do you expect? He's English. He's had a good season for them. They're not in Europe next season. He's arguably their best player this past year. So, for sure they're gonna smack a very high price tag on him. They'll try their best to retain his services but 25M is not gonna stop big clubs from prying him away, though. Plenty of clubs are chasing after, so if you are selling club, you put the price tag as high as possible. There is no such thing of excessive price tag, willing seller willing buyer.

QUOTE(prash @ May 26 2014, 02:19 PM) 20mill with 5mil bonus if we win BPL sounds ok. This kind of price tag shouldn't be encouraged. As if next year, last match of the season is Liv vs Southampton, and Liv needs to get a win to win the BPL, people will question this kind price tag...

QUOTE(prash @ May 26 2014, 03:16 PM) haha idiots will always be around either way. If we really wan lalaboy so much and they insist on 25 mil price tag then thats the best way to go about it IMO. real did the same thing with spurs apparently with modric and bale except it was for CL instead of La Liga. The difference, Real and Spurs are not facing each other in the league, they are not competing in each other. While Liv and Southampton, has 6 points between them in the same league. If like that, buy each player from each team from the Premier League, with transfer price tag extra 5~10 million for the each player if win EPL, so they are happy to see Liv win the league then?

I don't think getting a forward that already ages 32 is a wise transfer, unless it is free or just a nominal amount that serve as backup.

QUOTE(genjo @ Jun 6 2014, 04:48 PM) Heard that Real Madrid will be knocking LFC door with 90m for our legend. QUOTE(yeelong @ Jun 6 2014, 05:02 PM) 90m for Gerard????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Gerrard? 90M for Gerrard? take it. How can Suarez transfer fee less than Bale? Doesn't make sense. Injury free, top striker in EPL, consistently top striker in the club.

QUOTE(dillonyong @ Jun 15 2014, 08:58 PM) Till now I still dont get how Andrea did it. Totally S-Style Curve. I tried a thousand times with the ball and couldnt get this kind of curve. You need to spin the ball inverse with the kick direction, or in other word put top spin on the ball (to make the ball dip instead flying to the roof), and side-way spin to curl the ball to left. Similar to tennis top spin but change to using leg, instead racket. It is like an "art' to master. Just like few footballers can deliver "curl" type of corner, which is difficult to defend, and GK tend to mis-judge the flying path of it. If you can, you can earn at least ten of thousand pounds per week already.

WC and league a lot of time never the same wave length.
Some players shine in WC matches, but not in league (after being signed by big club after seeing the magnificent performance during WC). Some players shine in league, but so so in WC.

Huh, Fifa can ban a player from playing for a club?
Like that club still need to pay the players wages? While Fifa ban the player to play in domestic league?
Is EPL under FIFA? As Fifa can make a decision that prevent a player to play in EPL.

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Jun 26 2014, 10:31 PM) Every season cuti til October...Suarez purposely one http://www.espnfc.com/fifa-world-cup/story...for-four-monthsQUOTE "The player is banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity -- administrative, sports or any other -- for a period of four months. A stadium ban is pronounced against Luis Suarez, who is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium during the period of the ban." Ban from matches, understandable. Entering stadium, understandable. Even administrative issue? Any kind of football related activities?
