Thanks but no thanks, but who can deny Hodgson's WC team will be based on Liverpool's highly successful attacking template...I see at least 4-5 players being starters in Brazil - SG, Sturij, Sterling, Hendo and possibly Johnson.... I dread it if England have a good run in the WC - then the players will return jaded, tired and off form for the new season - the further England go into WC, the worse it is going to be for the players....it happened to Spain, Holland and Brazil...all their players either affected or out of form after a good world & european cup...if this is the scenario, I would say we need at least another 4-5 key players who culd fit in straight away and if we include returning players such as Borini, Suso, Wisdom, Coady, Assaidi - we immediately have enough depth...Am not saying that all of them will be kept by BR....I think at least 3 players will be let go, and only BR will know who's who....
Having read about Lovren being linked to us, and Agger away, I am surprise that some would rather go for the former, whom i felt had a good season, but still have not proven anything. I would stick with Agger, as i would with Skrtle and Sakho...yes, we did have a leaky defense, but essentially, this season is about learning curve as well, our team learned about what it takes to mount a sustain interest all the way until April...eventho we did falter a bit towards the end,, but it showed the character of the team, the resilient against big and more extravagant team. I think the overall value of the team increase, as what's reflected in the league table, now is about reinforcement...rather than replacement, this is how i felt
heck, even british govt doesnt believe england can get past the group stages....
