PPT & Petron/Esso use Tapis. Tapis (light sweet) much more expensive compare to Brent and WTI. Tapis still sold outside to maintain the price. There is COSA for Tapis. Shell & PPM use heavy crude as they have facilities for that. Another things, we do consume our own crude

(^__^)

Yup we do consume our own crude via PPTSB refinery but very minimal, distribution only covering East Coast area.

There are so many subsidiaries in SapuraKencana, and I believe TLO will be their main anchor/cash cow during this slow down in O&G

Forgot to mention, SKE as well

Three parties prequalified for Kasawari CPP contract

Posted on January 13, 2015, Tuesday

KUCHING: Three parties have likely been pre-qualified by Petronas for the US$1.5 billion Kasawari central processing platform (CPP) contract.

AmResearch Sdn Bhd (AmResearch) noted that the three parties are South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd, a joint venture between Italy’s Saipem SpA and SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd, and a partnership between France’s Technip SA and Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd (MMHE).

“We understand the bidding is in progress and is currently being evaluated.

“The contract could be awarded sometime in April. Berlian McDermott, a joint venture between TH Heavy Engineering Bhd and Houston-based McDermott International Inc, did not progress beyond the prequalifying stage of this contest,” said AmResearch.

Upstream had earlier indicated that the Kasawari field development is a 30,000-tonne CPP that includes 19,000 tonnes of topsides.

The development also includes a nine-slot wellhead platform, a bridge link, a flare tower, and possibly a central collection platform weighing more than 7,000 tonnes.

AmResearch explained that Kasawari is a major natural gas discovery with over three trillion cubic feet of gas in reserves. First gas is targeted for late 2018 or early 2019, while production is projected at between 500 million cubic feet per day (MMcfd) and 750 MMcfd of gas.

Gas produced from this field will be transported to the ninth train at Petronas’ Liquefied Natural Gas complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.

“This development is the fourth CPP contract to be awarded by Petronas. We expect this to be a very close race, as one of Petronas’ main criteria is pricing.

“This would be especially vital, amid the national oil company’s focus at improving cost efficiency and the group’s recent announcement that it would cut its capex by 15 per cent-20 per cent,” said the research house.

It added that local yards ‘have recently lost out on major fabrication jobs’ due to increased competition from foreign yards. Hyundai Heavy Industries managed to secure the US$1 billion Bergading CPP from US independent Hess, while the US$1 billion Bardegg 2-Baronia CPP for the EOR project from Petronas is also said to have been secured by the group.

This contract would be especially important to MMHE, as its order book has been dwindling due to lack of jobs secured.

MMHE’s order book stood at RM1.7 billion as at September 2014, with only RM323 million contract wins in FY14.

“We understand that the group has embarked on cost cutting measures and has offered its staff severance packages. The last major job won by MMHE was the SK316 CPP awarded in October 2013.”

Eversendai Offshore completes keel laying for jack-up liftboats in United Arab Emirates
Posted on January 16, 2015, Friday

KUCHING: Eversendai Corporation Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary Eversendai Offshore RMC FZE (Eversendai Offshore) has recently completed the keel laying for two units of self-propelled jack-up liftboats.
The company in a statement yesterday said this signifies the formal recognition for the start of vessels’ construction even though fabrication of the modules may have commenced months before.
Eversendai Offshore said its vessels are largely built in a series of pre-fabricated complete hull sections rather than being built around a single keel.
Meanwhile, the company noted the event recognised as “keel laying” is the first joining of modular components, or the lowering of the first module into place in the building dock.
Eversendai Offshore revealed that the dual keel laying ceremony was held at its waterfront yard facility in RAK Maritime City, Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.
The ceremony marked the second major milestone for the two newly built self-propelled jack-ups, respectively named ‘Aryan’ and ‘Arjun’ and scheduled for delivery in 2016 after the premier steel-cutting ceremony in October 2014.
Eversendai Group’s executive chairman and group managing director, Tan Sri AK Nathan said: “We are pleased to note our progress in executing this project as it substantiates our decision to venture into the oil and gas (O&G), petrochemical and process plant construction sectors.
“We look forward to successfully completing this project whilst boosting our efforts and simultaneously intensifying our presence in O&G industry.”
He also said: “We are positive that all our efforts and initiatives that have been set in place would lead to more opportunities for the group to secure new contracts on a global scale.
“We anticipate our foray into this sector to be a significant contributor to Eversendai Group’s earnings in time to come.”
In the meantime, Eversendai Offshore’s senior management as well as representatives from the international classification society, DNV-GL were present to witness the keel laying of both jack-ups.
The company added the self-propelled jack-ups will each consist of a rectangular hull and four 95 metre truss type legs, each with an electric driven rack and pinion jacking system, which will allow the unit to jack up in water depths of up to a maximum of 70 metres.
Eversendai Offshore noted the liftboat’s primary operating capabilities will include a 300-tonne crane, dynamic positioning (DP-2) system, accommodation for a minimum of 150 personnel and is propelled by its own thrusters to a speed of five knots.

Hi, I have just graduated from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) taking Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering. My major is Materials and learnt Failure Analysis, NDT, Corrosion & NanoMaterials. I also have experienced 7 months internship at ARKEMA Lychee Project, Kerteh as a Trainee Project Engineer for ALGOTECH for Mechanical & Piping Department. Up to now I've sent more than 150 job applications (email & website) and only received 2 interview offers, one is SLB (managed until 1st stage only- group & individual) and Gas Malaysia Berhad (interview this Wednesday).
My concern is that, most o&g companies are now freezing hiring and downsizing and most job vacancies are for those with experience only and an engineer from a Client company recently told me, we need CABLE to get into o&g especially client. Even UTP grads don't get the opportunity to be hired that easily by PETRONAS anymore.
I want to ask the seniors here to guide me on what to do for now and what to plan ahead. By the way, I would really love it if managed to secure a job with client as I'm the kind of guy who likes to talk and manage and I've experienced working with contractor(ALGOTECH) and also in manufacturing/automotive during my Diploma with PROTON.So, would really like to venture into new area  biggrin.gif  smile.gif  hmm.gif

I heard about Jabor banjir last year - area LPT tu kan?

Gebeng last year ada terputus hubungan jalanraya tak due to banjir?

Balok area seems feasible for me at the moment.

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah has died at the age of 90, according to official state media reports. The state-run press had been reporting for weeks that the monarch was suffering from pneumonia and had been hospitalized. The Saudi Press Agency said earlier this month that the king, who was reportedly diagnosed with lung cancer, was given a breathing-aid tube. King Abdullah had been the official king of Saudi Arabia since August 2005, but he had been running the country since his half-brother, King Fahd, had a stroke in 1996. Under Abdulllah’s leadership, Saudi Arabia enjoyed a number of reforms that allowed for greater freedom and focused more investments on improving infrastructure and education.
His successor, 79-year-old Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, has been named king, according to official media. He reportedly suffers from dementia.
