i owned a few digicams (fuji, nikon and canon).. so i already hv a few 1 gig SD cards for my nikon n canon
my concern is i oledi hv a canon 6mp digicam, G7 is 10mp with IS and ofcox i'm more into its 'legendary' look no doubt.. S3IS is a well rounder.. but it's 6mp. hmm.. let me think about it. cox i also waiting for the new ricoh GR digital. |

QUOTE(:+:DarreN:+: @ Nov 16 2006, 10:16 AM) You mean you want the G7 over the S3 just because it has more megapixels? If you're just a casual shooter you don't need that much megapixels. Megapixels only allows you to print larger photos. More mp doesn't mean better quality. IN CASE you didn't know for me, more Megapixel and DIGIC III (with the new multipoint face priority focus feature) is already good enuff for casual shooter like me to do post photo editing. (apart from the ultrazoom, IS and stereo video recording in S3.. somehow i still can't feel the urge as i already owned a A540, unless someone let go at very very cheap price la.. hehe)And yes, GO FOR S3. Seng Kiat's deal is good edi. sengkiat's deal is good, but he's from Melaka... and the price also on the steep side (no offence ok..) u could get the similar package (minus the canon backpack) at around 1.6k (check out BE's price at sg wang) cheers. p/s: since this is a S3's thread.. i think let's stick to the S3 This post has been edited by amdx: Nov 16 2006, 11:53 PM |

i think s3IS will not be able to capture something like the posted photos. like the DOF as in dSLR. (unless u customize ur s3is adapter ring to use bigger lense like alot of photofreaks did)
it's different hardware and technology la. aperture is one thing. the image sensor is the main point about DSLR. bigger sensor produce better quality, lower noise and shallower DOF.. and what's more? higher ISO with same noise. generally, most of the DSLR's sensors are about 23x16mm in size.. what's the sensor size of S3IS? 1/2.5" = around 5.76mm x 4.29mm. guys, get real. the hardware speaks itself. u might get something 'look-alike' but do check out the imagine quality produced by dSLR and compare to a pro-sumer, it's precisely as per stated in the hardware specs. just my 2 cents. sorry man.. not to put ice on ur head.. just to share constructive view for those potential S3IS buyers as well as dSLR buyer. atleast they know what they would be getting before they made up their mind to purchase one. i love S3IS too! but to compare it with a dSLR... it's different category la. rite? ozak,
try this link: http://megaweb.clubsnap.org/articles/a70_reversed_35mmf2/ hehehe...u can mod to something like that... custom made urself a reverse ring adapter and get a SLR lense attach to S3IS. but don't think u will bring it out for outdoor shooting lor. it's freaking weirdo... |
