Another way to test is just use data and turn off WiFi and see if notifications still coming in

I think the most noticeable upgrade for G2 vs G3 would be the laser auto focus feature. Waiting to see real user review on the accuracy and speed of the auto focus. Wonder if the improvement is as dramatic as they are selling it or not hehe

I've experienced nexus 1 to 5 so i know what Nexus is. I use to think the same like you that OEM skin is totally unacceptable until i change to G2. The truth is, I don't feel AOSP on G2(or nexus 5) is any faster than stock G2. We have come a long way since those days and the hardware now is able to tolerant a little bit of eye candy and some extra features. About those extra features, different people have different need. I for one uses some features daily eg. knock code, quick window, split screen, camera modes and On Screen Phone just to name a few.

You pretty much said is yourself, all you need is a Google Now launcher and the phone feels and looks like stock android. Then why is the need of GPE with reduce feature when u can have full feature + your favourite launcher, right ?

Good strategy haha can save lot of money in the process

Cloudy stock + nova launcher + gel icon + xposed + g3 Zooper widget

both have their own unique features but tweaksbox comes with more features.

however, i somewhat prefer g2 xposed cuz I only need some features and g2 xposed seems to handle it better, especially on the navigation bar control

if the phone is dropped, the back cover should be the least of concern. Chances are you will need replacement screen haha
