my boss bring his apple laptop to office and ask me to configure it so that he can use company streamyx.

that's what i do on windows system, manually assign an ip address, subnet mask, default gateway and dns server to connect to office lan (thru utp cable, not wireless)

how do i do that on apple machine ? pls guide me in details, coz i am totally new to apple os tongue.gif

on the router empty box, you may neeed to check it at windows by right click on the network ( 2 pc icons) and choose properties to list the router ip address. .

it should be start with 192.168.1.1

then check your windows ip address ,

use the same 192.168.1 but the last digit, you choose any number

example 192.168.1.3 if your windows pc is 192.168.1.2

it shold works

why dont u use DHCP? as your boss might plug into other ethernet say at home, he has to reconfigure the TCP/IP settings.

You can actually preset a few location. Let's say "Office" & "Home". So when u r in office, just switch location to "Office" and all your network setting will be updated.
Regarding the DHCP, some corporate network only support fix ip.
