Not exactly an MMO. It's an RPG shooter, RPG more than shooter.

It's 'open-world" in the sense that there's minimal loading screen. It's still a decently sized map (apparently comparable to GTAV downtown map). But yes it's kinda like borderlands where you can solo or coop with 4 other people.

the idea for dark zone is nice, but turns me off.

if go in solo = high chance to get outnumbered and ganked.

go in group = got chance to get back stabbed.
