new plans again? haha it is expected. I read from Multimedia Commission that the effective new inter-telco rates was enforced from 1st April 2006, among other things the intertelco charges will be slashed by 30% .
I am so waiting for the new round of price wars.

Although there are many perks with Celcom, such as broadcast info, superior coverage, I am still somewhat a tad reluctant to subscribe to it due to my past experience with celcom's bad billing system and bad inefficient customer service.
It's ok with celcom IF you dont get into trouble with their service, but when you do, you will find it difficult to solve the problem due to their atrocious customer service with the 'tidak apa attiude'

but RM400 for 4 lines with 3000 mins combined and free call between the 4 lines is a good plan.
but at the end of day, users will end up paying more RM100+ person. This is how telco reaps money from you.

from Borneo Post, local daily in Sarawak.
briefly:
1. Normal Postpaid plan:RM 30 per month access fee, 30 sen /min flat rate to any numbers, 10 sen per sms flat
2. Minutes plan: not much details but it mentions for call exceeding current minutes will be charged at 14.3 sen/min (more savings when u call)
3. Family Plan: RM400 for maximum of 4 lines. 3000 minutes shared by 4 lines. call between 4 lines FOC. Call outside 4 lines will charged by minutes. After exceeding 3000 minutes (total for 4 lines) will be charged 13.3 sen/min. free bundled sms = 200
data plans: 1. unlimited GPRS/3G = RM99 per month but must subscrib to any other postpaid plans.
2. special rate for streamyx subscribers = RM88/month ( i suppose u need to bring your tmnet bill for sign up)
3. Data Only unlimited 3G/gprs = RM120 /month (if you opted out for any postpaid plan that is)
the data plan beats DIGI.

celcom CEO also admitted there was a massive churn rate for celcom during the last quarter of 2005 after they launched the minutes plan and they are feeling the pinch of the reduction in their postpaid subscribers.
The reasons for the churn rate:
1. image problem 2. erroneous billings - apparently many customers terminated their line after being given unsatisfactory explaination for the extra charges in their bills by an equally oblivious and unhelpful customer care consultants.
3. Aggressive promotion by other telcos.
4. billing problem
5. billing problem
6. billing problem
7-10 will be billing problem

Celcom is betting on the family package to raise revenue. But how many users will switch? people just dont call 4 lines only. In fact they call other people also.
and the extra calls of 20 sen/min after the alloted time sucks. What is celcom trying to do? They suppose to encourage people to call more, not less!
The Minutes plan failed miserably due to high churn rate after it was launched. And they still maintain that plan.... AND MAKE IT MORE EXPENSIVE now.
normal people just dont talk to 4 people, and the high rate of RM400 will put off many normal users. Who really want to intertwine their line with 4 people? for an instance,In one family , most likely all the children has their own prepaid lines already...do u think the father will sign up for 4 lines and give it to their children so that they can talk with their children/wife limitlessly? The children might not want to give up their hotlink/ digi prepaid.
I just went to the telco shop yesterday, the salesperson does not want to promote the RM400 plan because she says it's too EXPENSIVE and not many customers will like that plan... haha..
celcom you really need to sack your current marketting officer and hire a better one.
It's kind of sad that you possess such good infrastructure but you dont know how to make use of it. pity.

Well, last year i wanted to sign up for celcom minutes plan. I was warned by one of the ex-celcom user about celcom plan. He said that celcom has the propencity to change their mind, terms and conditions very frequently.
with the new celcom minutes plan, they effectively increased their postpaid call charges from 15sen to 20 sen for all minutes plan. A few of my friends are on minutes are very upset with celcom because they on RM80 plan and normally exceeded the alloted minutes. It means they have to pay MORE now than last time.
They are working adults, they dont have so much time to go to celcom office to change their plans.
what is wrong with celcom? they are betting the Rm400 will be well received by the public ( which i doubt, the salesgirls at the telco shop all told me customers dont want to sign up , they dont dare to promote also) at the EXPENSE of the existiing celcom minutes subscribers.
shakehead. this is another of celcom undoing. i can see the number of their postpaid customers will continue to shrink.

celcom has same mentality. The billing mayhem has not been sorted out yet.
Advertisement says no need pay deposit or upfront fees. From their website this is not true.
There is still a hidden RM50 connection fee, RM10 stamp duty, advanced PV, prorated PV, and BACKDATED PV.
so this is how it will work. let me take RM80 plan for example.
For your first month, you will be charged RM 10 (connection fee, staggered into 5 months ) + RM2 (stamp duty ,staggered into 5 months) + prorate + advanced RM80.
confused yet? why do we need to pay advanced RM80 for the current month? I could accept the prorate.. but why advance payment for every month?
this is not all guys, there is this BACKDATED PV ( or so called adjustment for advanced PV) staggered for 5 months. this is basically your deposit, will will be offset in case you terminate the plan.
so every month for 5 months you will pay more than RM100 ....for a RM80 plan.
Now, it takes me a while to figure out their billing bewilderment.
This UNACCEPTABLE atrocious billing system which is out there to CHEAT customers. STAY CLEAR of celcom until they sort out their billing system.
why cant they just follow DIGI/ Maxis in their billing? maxis connection fee waived, stamp duty waived, first bill you ONLY pay the PRo-rate for the previous month. The current month will be billed to you NEXT MONTH. and they tell you that u only need to pay upfront deposit of RM100.. but what i like about maxis is they are CLEAN. you dont feel cheated.

but how can this tactic work? The CEO says there is a churn rate of 70,000 postpaid customers AFTER minutes plan is introduced. They still havent solved a core issue -----> people still ditched celcom to sign up for maxis/digi.
Can they address this decline? it's been so for that last 5 years. Remember last time when celcom subscribers base declines, the CEO says it because they are merging with TMtouch.. (great excuse).
Now what excuse have they got? more competition from maxis/digi? that's a bullshit excuse, they are just as incompetent as they were 5 years ago. Logo has changed, theme has changed, but nothing changes inside celcom.
website never updated, billing still has many problems, oblivious customer service. inconsistency. One day this, tomorrow that.
they customer base will continue to decline, i have no doubt about it. They need to fire their marketting officer, website designers, sales research team ( which i bet is being leased out to cut cost?) and ADMIT that celcom has an image problem and work culture problem.
as long as they do not address this issues, sorry celcom, looks like maxis/digi will eat into your market share.
