rite now, i'm having problem wif my OS installation on RAID0...dunno why this board give me so much problem in installing the OS...last time using ultra-d, so easy one setting up the raid and install the os...so many prob...at the end, just setup single disk and proceed with the installation...
has anyone tried to setup RAID using Intel RAID (Storage Matrix) bios...so slow in detecting the hdd...i got 2x SATA hdd, 1xPATA and 1xODD...it took 75seconds for the detection and the menu for the RAID setup is kinda slow and 'jerky' when u move from one item to another in the menu, aiya!...but if use Gigabyte RAID bios, very quick one but problem when installing the OS, if not at the F6, it will be during component installation during GUI setup, Gigabyte controller is not certified by Microsoft???duh, WTH???
dunno la...

Heard that the DS3 chipset heatsink is running burning hot when OCed, anybody care to check it out whether this is true or not? I also heard that a lot of ppl can't get RAID to work on DS3 also  doh.gif
*
no wonder why i wasted almost one whole day trying to configure the raid but to no avail...using ichr8 cannot, using giga raid pun cannot...and that intel raid bios very bad...so slow in detecting the hdd...just imagine everytime booting, u need to wait > 60 seconds fir the detection...giga raid controller is using a non-microsoft-certified driver...so during gui setup, it will pop-up the window asking to confirm whether to proceed or not...fist pop-up u can click on it, second pop-up, it just frozen like that...so, u cannot click to continue...no good shakehead.gif
at the end...just use single hdd, normal installation. doh.gif

maybe just for DS3 certain bios version only.
i'd like to know the ICH8 temp but never mind as long it's stable at 458*7@1.375v is enuff for me.

Load optimized, save. Enter bios again enable fan status, save (you will see global and fan reset). Enter bios again press Ctrl + F1, but strangely i only got it to work one time. Me running F4 bios though smile.gif
*
ooo...need to load optimize setting ka...i just straight away change the fan setting from disable to Intel QST, save boot and entered bios again, hit Ctrl-F1...this is the guide given at by Tony at XS. but mine is DS4, do dunno la.
and some people at XS also mentioned the same thing, they managed to get it done but then later cannot already...chipsmore anyone? wink.gif

To remysix
This might solve ur raid problem, taken from xtremesystem.org, forgot who's the original contributor, thank him if u can get ur raid to work  laugh.gif
*
thanks bro...will try it out...
mine is ds4 thou...
what i have done b4:
1. use the orange slot, set "RAID" in BIOS --> this one refers to ICH8 RAID
2. the Intel Matrix Storage screenie was so damn slow in detecting my HDDs (3 hdd, 1 ODD took 75 secs and if I use ICH8 RAID, i need to wait this 75s for every boot-up, silly issnt it)
3. anyway, managed to create the matrix.
4. F6 option, some time has problem loading the driver, error blablabla...i got 3 floppies as a backup, just in case - same prob.

use Giga SATA-RAID controller.
1. at least the RAID screen is better than Intel's, fast detection and smooth movement.
2. matrix created - RAID0
3. F6 option. some time got the same problem as the intel one.
4. IF #3 ok, during GUI setup, installing component and stuff, prompted that the driver (Giga controller) is not certified, nvm, just proceed. then again another pop-up mentioning the same but this time i cannot click or tab or select "Continue" button, default is cancel. setup just stalled there. system doesnt seem to be hanging or something since the bar (the one that going left-to-right then back again) was moving. no other way, cold-booted.

after one whole day doing this, got fed-up, so just use one single hdd installation. doh.gif
never tot setting up RAID is such a big prob...

I have heard numerous complain bout gigabyte's ds3 and ds4 raid not working  shakehead.gif , seems to me like this is the manufacturer's problem?  whistling.gif
*
probably doh.gif
most probably the bios itself...just cant imagine u have to wait for such a long time for hdd detection...and some silly typo mistake...'RAID' was spelled 'RIAD' tongue.gif
and how come the driver given (from the CD) is a non-microsoft certified one? not a big deal though IF i managed to go ahead with the installation.
luckily the oc is good...but to be a good ocer mobo, it also need to be stable and this kind of prob should have not existed...like my previous DFI Ultra-D...new BIOS just to make oc better thumbup.gif

ddww - oh ok...so ur current fsb run at wad vcore? and did u touch ur vdimm?
make it ratio 1:1 to oc rite?
*
if u can run it at 1:1 would be wonderfull...but using kvr667, u might not go far running 1:1, so u need to put the mem on divider...ddr2 667 is using 2.5x to be 1:1...so, imagine if i run at 400fsb, the ram would be 2.5x400=1000Mhz...for normal kvr, prolly hard to do that...but if u put it on divider, mine lowest can do is 2x...so, the mem would run at 2x400=800...still can do la...

im on 300 x 7 daily use (1.325v) waiting for my PSU to come back (shud be within this week) then i'll run on 480x7 full time tongue.gif previously my vcore at 480x7 was 1.45v and +0.6 vdimm at 5-4-4-9.

@geng
i cant go up either (FSB). previously can go 484 but now 480max. i think is because of the bios version. im currently using F5c.
*
what ram do u use bro...in my bios, when i set the vdim to +0.4, i will get the +18VDDR (or something blush.gif ) status as failed...it's in the PC Health (or something blush.gif , didnt remember la) portion. dunno what does it mean...

Guess mind telling if the patriot memory from the bulk order patriot PSD ddr2 is any good? I am thinking of getting the PSD ddr2 667, is that any good with gigabyte DS3? I am not expecting any hardcore OC out of it, anything over DDR2 800 is good enough  tongue.gif
*
anything over 800...then u can get a kvr...around 300 onli and can do 970...hehehhe...why pay more when u can get it for less whistling.gif
