So, Miri is mere boomtown or it will have long term growth (if O&G gone)?

For miri survival they need to enter into other business.
as for Bintulu hope they resolve the water pollution. sweat.gif

not boomtown at all, it have its own natural growth, bruneians and intl eco tourism even the decline of O&G, still Miri track history is longer than bintulu.

dont forget sarawak before malaysia formation first real oil was found in miri proxy 104 year ago..by Shell. smile.gif

Miri could upgrade itself be the training center for O&G and other research related with it. Just a matter of time.

for bintulu its clearly MLNG, without MLNG, bintulu would be in decline state as sibu now as sibu history still with the route to interior sarawak and timbers.

guess the timber tycoon forgot about sustainability and left nothing for this town who also gave their own first wealth growth

Bintulu not only have MLNG but also Shell MDS (world first GTL plant started on 1997), ABF (urea granular plant owned by Petronas), BCOT (Crude oil terminal), BORF (onshore gas conditioning plant owned by Murphy Oil Sarawak Co. Ltd), SOGT Transit gas terminal plant and many more

Those PSC's operator who currently have operation based at Bintulu is PCSB (Temana field), Murphy Oil, Shell, BC Petroleum (JV between Dialog and ROC Oil Australia), RH Petrogas Ltd, Paxco Energy, Newfield (already exiting and their field bought over by SapuraKencana Energy Sdn Bhd) and many more.

Not to mention O&G service provider who has their base at Bintulu. Thats why orang luar meramei Bintulu like crazy these days.

Train 9 LNG and Floating LNG vessel will be coming soon. Kedak sardin liao Bintulu dudi ari klak. Trust me

in terms of cost of living, of course, Bintulu is the costliest in Sarawak. However, I likes the nature of the town and the peoples living here. Very friendly!
