Requirement = have money to pay. and everyone is accepeted. As long as you pay. The diploma is the same as the ones that is offered in Arus Perdana

*P/S* I just finished my space class and is using the PC in UTM's Library.

SPACE: school of professional and continued excellence
layman: UTM's part-time education school.

arus perdana: full-time student

utm is currently the only IPTA that caters both full-time and part-time education using integrated syllabus, but managed by an independent body (SPACE). the lecturers, syllabus, content are the same with the full-time course, the only difference is they'll spend more time compared to the fulltimers.

fees varies between RM150 to RM350 per credit hour per semester, with 8 credit hours max per sem. that would mean, u will pay a max of RM 2800 per sem.

there are two levels of education under SPACE programme: diploma and degree. most courses are accredited, there are still several newly added courses that hasnt been accredited, but are still recognized by LAN. which means u r certified to work in related fields, both industry and government.

what linkinstreet means is that, he was doing fulltime diploma, when he was offered a job. instead of finishing his diploma, he took the job and converted his remaining education into SPACE. this way, he can still work and at the same time study to finish his diploma, which is the 4 math subjects.

how long does it take to finish degree ? wow...the fees are depend on subject?

about 5-6 years. there is a big advantage for students taking SPACE. let's assume u'll be working in related field (for example, working in a civil engineering firm). u start at 2005, and the fulltime course takes 4 years (graduate 2009).

assuming u'll graduate in 8 years (worst case scenario), four years later than the fulltime students. however, u will graduate in 2013 with 8 years related working experience compared to fulltimers that only has 4 years related experience.

ofcourse, the level of expertise might differ, but then again, u're already a senior of 8 years in the office, and everybody knows u.
fees depend on the credit hours. each subject has between 2-6 credit hours (depending on weightage).

weightage?

weightage: how heavy/crucial/important a particular subject is for that particular course.

for example, design is so essential to architecture, each subject is between 6-8 credits.

look at it this way:

u have a main dish, and because it is THE main dish, it costs more. then u have the appetizer and the dessert, a relatively smaller dish and cheaper dish.

wow... where is the intake gonna be?

now this is quite off topic, coz UTM s.p.a.c.e does not offer any postgraduate programme.

but just to answer that question:

only if u fulfill the minimum requirement of 3.00 CGPA. with 3.00, u dont need to have any working experience. but if u score lower than 3.00, u might need a little more than just 2 years working experience. it will also depends on what specialization u're going to master in.

can polytechnic student apply for undergraduate program? how about the exemption subject? rm3000? wow...a bit pricier than full time course...

yes obviously. a huge percentage of the money u pay for the fees goes directly into the lecturer's pockets. they have the obligation to attend to ur needs (some said even more than they'd give to fulltime students).

look at it this way. u're still a student of UTM. period.
*
not yet...but im ex-polytechnic student who used to be curious about UTM course..since the polytechnic study method different from university.

*currently in Makmal Linux 2 taking Software Engineering*

the lecturers tend to remember you better as you spend longer time with them, thus, you can have a better relationship and easier to ask for help with anything, and I mean anything

well, UTM SPACE programmes are becoming more well known in the industry because they tailor suite for people who're already working in the field who seeks to better themselves with higher qualifications. in doing so, most of the graduates are degree holders with a substantial amount of expertise/experience in the field their in compared to other fresh graduates. without having to look at other aspects, this alone can be enough for potential employers to pick u above anyone else.

lecture sessions have the exact same content as the conventional full-time programme. the only difference is, it's held part-time, and u only attend classes during the weekends. even so, it wont be everyweek. however, classes tend to take whole day, sometimes 9am to 6pm bcoz they're compressing what the other students learn in a week in just one day. so it tends to be exhaustive.

lecturers consist of the actual lecturers for the fulltime course. if they suck, basically the full-time students are experiencing the same thing as well. doesnt have anything to do with what SPACE does.
graduates from UiTM will have no problem transferring credits. i can say that subjects u scored distinctions (A or A-) will almost automatically be transfered. but then again, it's a case by case basis, so i dont want to get too much ahead of myself.

u can check at SPACE centre in UTM KL or JB, or just give them a call.

how about Polytechnic subject?are the subject are accepted to be transfered?
