Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers wants to sign a new deal with the Reds on the condition that he is given more control over player transfers at the club, reports the Daily Mirror. The 41-year old manager believes that he has earned the right to take charge of transfers after taking the club to the cusp of the winning the Premier League title this season.

The Northern Irishman is open to a penning down a new 5-year deal at Anfield, during which he plans to build a new dynasty at the famous club.

Speaking about his future, Rodgers was quoted saying, “It’s one of the leading clubs in the world and I want to be allowed to build and develop the club without interference. I have a great relationship with the owners and, hopefully, we can continue to develop the team. We’ve still got a long way to go, but I’m looking five years ahead. I’m 41, I’ve got many years ahead of me – but there aren’t too many bigger than Liverpool.”

Rodgers also revealed plans of expanding the Anfield stadium, which will help the historic ground accommodate 21,000 more supporters, and he also wishes to attract higher pedigreed players with Champions League football in the bag for next season.

Rodgers currently has just 1 year left on his present deal with Liverpool, and is reportedly on the short-list of many top teams including the likes of FC Barcelona. It would be advisable for the Liverpool board to give him the control he desires as the Northern Irishman has already done wonders at the club.

They can't be forgiven for collapsing the 2nd time again. Some more vs West Brom of all ppl who are somewhat safe from relegation. I'd figure Palace gonna scalp them in the match after this, then Reds will show them how to get a result at Selhurst Park (ala Sunderland).
