at 1st, i wanna buy this fone. then come the Honor 3c.. with 2gb ram. but then, the antutu score for honor 3c is only 17k.. this a850+ score 27k in antutu.. damn confuse which one to buy. and 5.5" quite big for me.
honor 3c,
2gb ram, 8mp camera, 5mp selfie camera, quad core.
a850+,
5.5" screen, 5mp cam, octa core, 1gb ram.
damn confuse ehhh
I have the A850+, a good phone for the price (except that rubbish cameras-front and back, low res screen, lack of compass and... nothing else)
I bought it for 449 from 1G. So far the phone serves me right (actually is my mum's phone, just test driving before giving to her when I'm back to my hometown), totally put my current phone (an almost 2 years old Galaxy Nexus) in shame when it comes to battery life and performance. It's not 100% lag free, you'll see some lag here and there once in a while but it's really good enough.
Now hoping that it will be updated to 4.4.2 (Vibe 1.5) instead of stuck at 4.2.2 since Mediatek already provided the needed source code for 4.4.2. Not much of community support for this phone as of now. Can find 2 versions of ROM, S118 and S119 with their "simplified, google-fied, root-ified" versions on China forums but I didn't flash any of those since mine already comes with Google framework and root.
Honestly, the quad core or the octa core doesn't matter too much. You won't really feel it in normal apps usage. It's only benchmarks that tells you it has that much RAW performance but not every apps can make it run on all 8 cores simultaneously. I would say the difference is more on the GPU. It's Mali 400MP2 @ 416 MHz vs Mali 450MP4 @ 700MHz that matters more.
If you demand more on overall hardware quality and camera, i suggest you to go for the 3C. Having 2GB RAM, better camera, better display should make up the difference. Give and take, it's your choice.
Battery life wise, I can easily get 5 hours screen on time on A850+ given that I normally spend around 3 hours a day on Asphalt 8. It will last longer if I don't play that game (too boring at home, spamming it to earn credit

) In comparison to 3C, I heard ppl say it max out at 5 hours SOT with a Custom kernel (can't cite where's the source, you have to look for it

) so it's your choice.
Another thing noted with this phone is that... It's really not hot. At most I can feel that it's warm. No way near "hot" unlike my Galaxy Nexus which can go very hot when I put full load on it (surfing on data/asphalt 8). That's another plus!
tl;dr, just get both phones, you won't (probably) regret.
