Hi all,

Recently been transferred internally to Singapore.

As my job require me to travel extensively, i will be driving malaysian registered car into Singapore.

1 quick question, it is possible to reload my autopass with credit card? Or only cash allowed?

Hi, I got a job offer in MNC IT company in Singapore.

May I know what is the norm salary range for IT Consultant? They offering me SGD130k p.a.

Currently my pay in MY is appx. MYR200k p.a. Shall I except the offer in SG?

Have no idea what is the salary range in SG. Kindly advise. Thx

If you already have a house that paid off and kids that've grown up, I say that the plunge. Otherwise stay put.

Reason is that should your career doesn't take off as what you would have envision, at least you have somewhere and someone to fall back to.

If your package comes with other perks like housing and schooling for your kids then it's a no brainer

Not many locals Singaporean that I know off can even command that pay actually

Rental for private homes in SG has drop according to some expats I spoke too.

PR is really hard to get this days. Good luck if you're planning to get one.. smile.gif

S'pore government intend to build/attract knowledge based economy or service oriented business.

So if you are in those line of work, such as banking, F&B, retail, tourism - chances to get PR is higher.

I heard many cases those in manufacturing line, PRship is hard to get. Slowly this industry is moving out due to high cost

Marine industry earn quite a lot la...

Btw... Sarawak is not cheap. Compared to KL and other places, maybe can only save on toll. Other things not really cheaper some even more expensive especially groceries. Many things are made in Peninsular and shipped to Sabah/Sarawak so many household needs are actually more expensive there.

Want buy house not hard la... Need to save the downpayment and save some buffer for instalment. After that need secure a job that can at least pay the monthly instalment. biggrin.gif Or save downpayment d, buy house then use rent to cover the instalment while still working in SG. Let family or relative manage the house.
Btw... How can we loan in Malaysia if we're working in SG? Need ask family help loan? Else how to let bank approve our loan? hmm.gif

Both will be charged. Once you come out after 2am consider 1 day VEP

doh.gif doh.gif I'm not so sure about dining in proper restaurant so not sure whether that's a standard practice. But it's something we're used to in Malaysia. That extra 16% doh.gif
Erm... At least...

Those food courts no, McD no, Subway no, fastfood all mostly no, others I don't know la. Current project around orchard area so every shop there is too bloody expensive to eat in. Only can eat fastfood or food court.

Btw... Anyone knows Jolibee? It's bloody full everytime. Lunch hour, the food court one full I think the 6th floor one also full. Why ppl queue for it? So delicious? Or just hype?
*
You refer to Jolibee at Lucky Plaza? Jolibee is a fast food chain from the Phillippines. Their fried chicken is nice. Affordable too

Lucky Plaza is a famous hangout place for pinoy

Hi all, I'm planning to immigrate to Singapore with my wife and from what I read so far the process should be like
1. Find a job and get a work permit.
2. Apply dependent's visa for my wife.
3. Apply for PR.

Is that correct? Anything I miss?

By the way, I have more than 10 years of working experience in software development and wondering if IT job market is good there?
*
Any reason why choose Singapore?

I work for 3 years in SG but never think of emigrate

Why bother with the details when you yet to land yourself a job in SG?

Hello guys,
I got offered (confirmed) job in Singapore with start date January 2015 and I'm in doubt whether to proceed or not. For I have no idea what it would be like there.

The offer sound like this:
Basic : $3500 + $150 phone allowance + 3% - 7% commission based on target, reimbursement transportation & other claimable misc
Work hours is 9am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday & 10am to 1.30pm Saturday
Company: SPH

My concern is: $3500 monthly, is it enough to survive?

I've read this thread partly and found that a decent single room is already costing $800 - thats already 20% of my salary
I can't imagine what else is there to consider.
And the work hours is kinda bit too much. I don't know, what do you guys think?

My current package here in Malaysia:
More or less RM 5000 take home monthly, not much but considering I am home that's enough for me.
Monthly my expenses are rather same thus I would have left around RM 1500 till my next salary drawing every month.

So I still am doubting, whether I should take the offer or not. Your advise?  notworthy.gif
*
Is their offer final? If I am you, I'll contact them and ask whether the offer is negotiable or not.

If you choose to leave your current job, always leave with good terms. If your new job is not suitable, you can always fallback to your old job.

This is why I suggested Direct Money Exchange in the very first place. It is also quite hassle free.

1) You hand-over the cash to the money changer or you transfer the money from your OCBC to the money changer's OCBC for instance (with proper documentation of course and regulated by MAS)

2) Once the money is received in the money changer's OCBC, the money changer staff stationed in KL will bankin cash of the equivalent value agreed to your CIMB.

You get better rate, no admin fee needed.
*
This is not allowed by MAS in Singapore I heard. If yes, can give the website link to any of those money changers?
