QUOTE(jorakman @ May 6 2014, 04:59 PM)
Hi All, want to ask some questions.

1. If a malaysia work in singapore, does he need to pay income tax in malaysia? how to calculate the amount for salary SGD 2700?

2. SGD 2700.00 is sufficient to stay at singapore and save money? normally how much can be save monthly?

3. My current salary is RM3700.00. Do you think i should take the offer of SGD 2700.00?

Hope to hear opinion. All are welcome. smile.gif

1. No need to pay tax in Malaysia as you had paid in Singapore.

2. Can save 1k to 1.5k if not high spender and no commitment (e.g. pay insurance, house or car loan in Malaysia).

3. If you are desperate then can go for it. Else, can look for between 3k and 3.2k. Yet still need to see what other benefits of the current job offered. If the benefits is good, then why not.

I see MOM first year I f service entitle 7 days right? My first three month should be 3/12 X 7 days correct? Should be 1.75 days after my 3 months of work.

But why my boss said I am only entitle leave after ONE year of service? Meaning my first year of service i HAVE NO annual leave.. Wow..
*
Regardless of what is the company policy, the company need to follow MOM guidelines if you are covered under Employment Act. Which minimum 7 days per year (will be pro-rated accordingly) after 3 months service for the first service year. If your company does not give you that entitlement, they are violating the rules. You can talk to your HR in case your boss know nothing about the rules. Otherwise, you may call to MOM hotline to clarify and let your boss know.

Anyone know is there an agency in Singapore that operate the same or similar to AKPK in Malaysia? I got a friend got into financial trouble and I'm trying to look for solution on his behalf.

Edit: Found an agency called Credit Counselling Singapore (CCS).

Updated front page. Although seems like getting too cluttered liao, probably V17 whoever opens the thread can figure out some better way to organize the information lol.

Just a suggestion, maybe can put all information into word document and upload for others to download? If were to update frequently, put the last updated date.

Something like FAQ also can. E.g. there a lot people asking the transport fee back and forth from JB to SG.

I receive a job offer of sgd 2200/month.. I know that I should go because my current salary just RM2000.. only thing I concern about is how much of tax I need to pay? as for housing I have cousin over there..

Tax is not a concern in singapore. It's far more lower than malaysia as resident tax, even non resident tax also lower. As low as 2%.

But for your case, first year can't be resident tax because stay less than 183 days.

It's fine as long as TS works more than 183 days. For this year he will be taxed at Non-Res rates but sometime next year once he hits 183 (or 1 year? not too sure exact dates here) he can apply to IRAS to re-assess his this year tax and they will re-calculate it as a resident.

QUOTE(Nicklly @ Sep 26 2014, 05:56 PM)
Then for my case first year no need pay tax? afterward how? quite confuse with singapore income tax.. as in malaysia I also no need pay tax also.
*
U still get taxed as non resident at flat rate of 15% of your income on that year. If you continue to work on the following year, then you will be taxed under resident tax. However, deodorant added that you can request to re-assess your previous year tax based on resident tax, but I'm not sure this part. The income tax same with Malaysia where have resident tax and non resident tax, just that you are Malaysian working in Malaysia, so you do not know about non resident tax. If you have any rental for your property and you did not stay in Malaysia more than 183 days, your rental will be taxed as non resident which at 26% (can't remember the exact percent, more or less) flat rate without any tax relief.

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Sep 26 2014, 09:03 PM)
Can elaborate more? I started in Sept... How will I be taxed and when? I totally have no idea about it.
Btw... I read on this: http://www.iras.gov.sg/irashome/page.aspx?id=9878
Can enlighten me on this?
*
You started in sept definitely less than 183 days. So your tax will be based on non resident which will be flat rate of 15%.

No worry about declaring tax that you've earned from the company, because your company will submit your income tax via auto inclusion scheme (if more than 12 people in the company), or manual via IR8A form (if company did not opt for auto inclusion scheme). You just need to e-File others source of income such as rental or if you have tax relief that wanted to add in (e.g. life insurance, study fee, etc).

Other than that, pretty straight forward and easy compare to Malaysia where you need to submit yourself online.

Guys, I am trying to figure out if I need to pay VEP by entering Singapore after 5:30pm and back to JB at 7:00am.

I checked with LTA website and it just mentioned the VEP-free time: 5pm - 2am when entering Singapore. Not sure about leaving. Advise..?

It's Entry permit, exit no charges.
*
QUOTE(deodorant @ Oct 2 2014, 02:30 PM)
Are you sure about that? If I enter on Sunday afternoon and exit on Monday afternoon I don't get charged? What about if I exit on Tuesday afternoon?
*
It does matter on when you exit. If you exit later than 2AM (2:01AM) then it's charable of 1 day. I've tried using the calculator below provided by LTA.

What are the procedure of returning cancelled work permit to MOM ? To be specific ,where should I go to return it? MOM /Work Permit Service Centre?

Do I need to make some kind of appointment b4 heading there?

I got terminated bcoz I've been absent for about 3 weeks .The company sent me a termination letters just a few day ago .
*
If not mistaken, u need to return to your employer and settle the remaining such as balance of pay, return of assets, etc.

Wonder why you don't apply for No pay leave instead absent from work? You just loss the opportunity to work in SG.

thanks. but that article is for retirement at age 55 and it is only a portion. how about not coming back to singapore for good?
*
If you are going back to West Malaysia, you can only do full withdraw at age 55 by renounce your PR and not coming back SG to work.

But I'm not sure how they can identify whether you going back to West Malaysia.
