I got a call and job offer from company to work in SG. May I ask is it I have to sign the offer letter only the company can proceed to next step for apply employment pass for me? Will the company knows when is the working date or have to wait for the pass to get through by MOM?

I am from Kedah, so I am trying to find out how long I should stay in SG until everything is completed as I can't be going in and out often, the travel can be killing with 12 hours bus journey sad.gif

Just got mail from employer that work permit application has been approved. Have to travel down to Singapore in these few days for medical examination. About this, do I have to wait for the report to produced and submit to MOM myself? Or usually the clinic will send to company directly?

Here is some weird part, the IPA letter stated that my salary is 2k however the employer promised to give me more than that and was official in my offer letter. Is this valid ar?

Sorry for asking a lot of questions ya biggrin.gif

HR told me I can open a bank account either with DBS or OCBC. Would like to ask what is the difference between these two. I am getting a work permit only, heard that a lot of restrictions with that as well.

How much is the deposit needed? I heard DBS can only be open in Chinatown for work permit holder, sounds so ...discriminating.

QUOTE(LightningFist @ May 9 2014, 06:05 PM)
you have no idea

jobs are so few, networks are almost your only way in sometimes

don't forget im malaysian citizen so not easy for me overseas

even malaysian jobs can be competitive depending on the type of grad program (if only 1 hire is made in a multi year period for a particular role)

Err...which industry you're from? I think jobs are a lot and you just have to try harder and maybe expect to take in something might be lower than your expectation, to gain experience and build your profile first since you're fresh.

The so called network and contact might not be very helpful sometimes, what they do is just reference your resume to hiring manager. Still low possibility to promise a job if there is nothing outstanding in your resume. Unless you have a very very good academic record that can beat local.
