Many/most companies: I give you the entire year leave on day 1 and let you schedule when you want to take it within the year.
Half-*******: You work one month you get one day, you work another month you get another day (example)
Complete-*******: You work one whole year then only I give you 1 year worth of annual leave to use during the next year (your company)

Regardless of what is the company policy, the company need to follow MOM guidelines if you are covered under Employment Act. Which minimum 7 days per year (will be pro-rated accordingly) after 3 months service for the first service year. If your company does not give you that entitlement, they are violating the rules. You can talk to your HR in case your boss know nothing about the rules. Otherwise, you may call to MOM hotline to clarify and let your boss know.
