QUOTE(Sentinel92 @ Aug 5 2014, 12:48 PM) Reinstalled 14.6. Rebleeded the loop. Shake the damn PC. Lowered to 50c but still damn high. At least it went down but guess i have to reinstall the water block again. sigh. If this happen out of nowhere, re-seating the block most likely will not fixed the problem. You should check your loop. Water flow checked out? |

QUOTE(Sentinel92 @ Aug 5 2014, 03:01 PM) No issues with flow. My CPU and VRMs are positively frozen as well. Only the GPU core is causing me problems. i have a feeling the TIM or one of the thermal tapes is causing not enough contact. If not enough contact, either problem with TIM or thermal tape, it should happen from day one. It doesn't suddenly happen out of nowhere. |

QUOTE(Sentinel92 @ Aug 5 2014, 05:35 PM) I only installed the block last friday brah. It was stock reference before that. No issues. I see. I just rely on your previous post which make it seems the issue started after installing 14.7 driver.Sigh. Why did i go WC. Should have went 290 Croessfire non reference and be done with it. Did you use thermal pad on the memory? If you do, this could explains why you got high temp. |

QUOTE(Sentinel92 @ Aug 20 2014, 04:44 PM) Holy bloody hell. Finally fixed the PC, reloop and remounted everything. 45C in non A/C room? I don't buy it but what do you care right. Kudos for getting better temps nonetheless. Furmark Benchmark (2560x1440/Max Settings) 45c Load Temp for GPU. 50-53c Load Temps for CPU. Idle is around 37-39c for both. Water is 33-34c. Non air con room Will try stuff like Prime95 and Unigine later. |

QUOTE(M1X @ Aug 27 2014, 05:45 PM) Had anyone ran a Sapphire Toxic R9 280x on The PSU requirement is just a guideline. The requirement is set that way to cover the whole PC, not just the card & they intentionally set a little bit higher to cover most setup if not all.Currently having issue with my Corsair 750W PSU, thinking about trying the spare Xigmatek Nvm, found an old pic on my FB, it's a 600W What was the issue you having with Corsair 750W? QUOTE(commanderz @ Aug 31 2014, 04:25 PM) You need to set higher than that. Mine running in 80s with custom fan profile & I can get it down to 70s if I'm running the fan at 100% speed (actually depends on the ambient, if ambient maintained at 29 - 31C like when it's raining, I can run at 80% fan speed to maintain 70s Celsius). Ask yourself this, why would you want to turn down the card performance just because you want it to run cooler if you can achieve the same thing with custom fan profile & not loosing performance?Rather than lower the card performance, better exchange to 280 or 270. *custom fan profile means, set the fan to running at certain speed at certain temperature, increase the fan speed when temperature increase (you can use range, e.g. 60% speed for 50 - 60 Celsius). QUOTE(S4PH @ Aug 31 2014, 09:07 PM) guys want some insight on my r9 290 upgraded my cooler using mk-26 now but some times when i game the screen go blank and there is still sound the gpu does not seem to be hot. I think memory is overheating. Screen go blank or black screen usually related to memory overheating or if you're overclocking, unstable memory overclock. You probably need to re-seat the cooler.is this a driver issue or my gpu is giving problem |

QUOTE(arifhasim85 @ Sep 2 2014, 12:18 PM) its heavily depends on the memory type used in the cards.. those who have r9 290 hynix memory can oc up to 1500-1600mem.. haiz i really wish i owned hynix one.. My Elpida card can do 1600 on memory no problem. With 290's, it's more silicone lottery. This post has been edited by kizwan: Sep 2 2014, 10:05 PM |

QUOTE(S4PH @ Sep 3 2014, 12:15 PM) yours watercool bro my r9 290 on air its a totally different ballgame, had it with ATI my next gpu i will get Nvidia, very upset with 290 lack of stability even my 6970 was pushed to the limit it never failed me. R9 290 failed me where it was not even pushed All 290's run hot. You either use custom fan profile or use aftermarket cooler. Mine when still using referenced cooler have no problem playing games at stock clock. Either with stock fan profile (temp max at 94C) or custom fan profile (temp max at 70s to 80s Celsius), not once I experiencing any problem. Too bad you got dud card. Dud card is dud card, whether it have Elpida or Hynix memory. When overclocking with 290's, you definitely need better cooling system. You can't compare 290 with previous gen ATI/AMD GPU. There are two cheapest ways I can think of to cool overclocked 290's; 1) referenced cooler/aftermarket cooler + aircond, 2) watercool + aircond. When overclocked, one thing you need to take care is VRMs, specifically VRM1. Overheating VRM1 can affect stability. If you can keep VRM1 below 80C (seems like sweet spot for max temp), then you can easily get the card to run stable when overclocked. Did you monitor VRM1 temp after changing the cooler? Even with watercooling most of the time I play games at stock clock (stock Tri-X OC clock 1000/1300). Only when aircond ON, I'll run my 290's overclocked. This post has been edited by kizwan: Sep 3 2014, 01:43 PM |
