yeah that game actually have lots of issues.. even in single gpu ppl getting hundreds of glitch and artifacts.. the sound problem make the game more worse. i abandoned the game 5 months ago..

my sapphire r9 290 ref will going to have its 2nd RMA tomorrow..

error code 43.. even with fresh windows and driver install the gpu still cant run. Already reseat and reapply thermal paste but nothing happen.. error code 43 all the time.. any last advise before i RMA it tomorrow?

window detect the gpu but its not working.. opening gpu-z only show half of the top section such as name, code name, bios version, subvendor.. the other half such as shaders, pixel rate, memory size, memory type, core and memory clock all unknown.. already try ccleaner but nothing happen. i only can check the gpu by using it as secondary gpu.. if i put it in single gpu, the display will not even come out.. just black screen from the beginning. cant even go into bios.

hmm actually im also suspecting the gpu cooler was the culprit.. but i cant think any logic reason how the cooler can damage the gpu.. the cooler work very well keeping the card cool in any situation.. in fact my other r9 290 using the same cooler running stronk and much older. really hope this time distro will give me a brand new gpu instead of just refurbish it.. or maybe a r9 290 vapor

so what do you think the local pricing of r9 390/390x? lower than 970/980?.. i guess it wont be much cheaper .. if the heat and power still sky high, amd will be f***ed up..

probably because you got the game via steam.. steam games usually are updated with latest patch and fixes.. they have to be good because ppl buying the game.. not like me just simply torenting so, if the game run very bad i cant complain much lol!

ahh btw i have witcher 2 enhanced edition from steam also and the game very smooth with my crossfire config.. never had any issue with it atm.. this game really need crossfire config for smooth gaming in max setting .. try reinstall the game.. or maybe you just need to verify integrity game cache.. sometimes this simple solution may solve all issue.

bro try disable ccc when using afterburner.. and in afterburner setting, disable ulps and DONT apply overclock at system startup.. you have to manually apply overclock after windows finish boot up.. can use overclock profile to make it easy. i also have problem like crash and hang before but already solve with this method..

edit: also dont forget to to set your pc power options to high performance

yeah for overclocking, i think trixx is better than afterburner.. the fact that trixx can oc volt up to 200mv compared to AF is a big advantage.. but i really like the monitoring panel from AF and the included Rivaturner. combined with HWiNFO64, it will become a perfect all in one monitoring software.. you can easily tell how your gpu usage during gaming to identify any bottlenecking, cpu and ram usage, temp and many more with customizable on screen display.. much better than fraps imo..

try this method.. disable ccc, overclock and overvolt the gpu a bit using afterburner or trixx.. last time i also facing same problem but after i oc the card 1120core, 1350mem, +50mv the problem solved.. the most important is overvolt the card and disable ccc.. oc without overvolt may not solve the issue..

i did read some article said that z97 can support upcoming intel cpu probably the broadwell gen.. but i forgot where i found the article.. too lazy to google and give you the link lol!

i also faced the same problem on my first month using r9 290 and resolved it using this method:

-reinstall driver
-disable ccc at system startup.. ccc is a noob oc software btw .
-overvolt your card a bit using afterburner or trix
-core and memory can also be overclock if you want since you already overvolt the card
-by using afterburner, disable ulps and enable force constant voltage
-do not set apply overclock at system startup.. set oc profile instead and oc manually everytime you boot up

a friend told me that some of r9 290/290x gpus having problem with its voltage stability at stock and cause it to BSOD due to lack of voltage to the core.. so by overvolt it a bit will resolve the prob.. the key solution are disable ccc and overvolt the card.

but im using the reference model.. not sure whether this can resolve the tri-x. good luck

bro do you already try disable ccc at system startup? ccc sometimes got conflict with 3rd party oc software like afterburner and trixx..

so its your wall plug that having voltage instability problem.. not your gpu lol!

so if your core runs at 87c, what your vrms temp? i bet it must be hotter than your core.. high temp of vrm can also contribute to voltage instability and BSOD..

my hd6950 bought from ipmart run very good.. no need to update vbios and works very well with current drivers.. not sure about the omega one. However indeed they packed the gpu very bad.. only wrapped with bubble wrap and no box included.. also the pci bracket dented a bit.. but i fixed it using plier.. i understand they dont have original box but any box can do lah.. just for safety for the gpu dont be chepskate lol! but... for rm95 i just keep my mouth shut
