got ppl offering me 1 month old 290 tri-x for about the price of a 280x. which i think it's a good deal. but wondering if i should wait for the rumored R3xx which will be around end of this year/early next.

currently using gtx460 which is years ago (damn EVGA card just wont die), on a 32 inch 1920x1080p TV.
imagine i play bf4 using a 460 in 1080p reso...

A fresh report suggest that we might see a first AMD Tonga GPU as soon as late August or early September and the first graphics card with the new GPU should be the Radeon R9 285.

The newest report coming from SweClockers confirms that AMD has finally decided on the name of the upcoming Tonga GPU based graphics card and it should launch as the Radeon R9 285. The report notes that the GPU behind the Radeon R9 285 will be the Tonga PRO, which also suggests that we might see a Tonga XT GPU at a later date, most likely as base for the Radeon R9 285X.

In case you missed the earlier report, Tonga GPU is pretty much the same GPU as the venerable Tahiti since it packs the same amount of stream processors, but will feature a narrower memory interface so the Radeon R9 285 should pack 1792 Stream Processors and 2GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 256-bit memory interface. Of course, AMD AIB partners will most likely launch R9 285 graphics card with 4GB of memory as well. According to previous reports, Tonga GPU based graphics cards should eventually completely replace the Tahiti-based ones.

Hi guys, just purchased a 280x from someone but have not test it yet. I am currently still using my HD 6870 so want to ask some advice before I switch the card.
What software should I be downloading to monitor the performance of the card? I only know of MSI Afterburner. I do not intend to OC, just want to do some monitoring.
Is the Raptr software useful?
Any difference if I use Afterburner video recorder or Raptr? Since Afterburner also has VCE support, I wonder if it is the same.
I normally update drivers via Steam, not manually. Any difference with this card or do you recommend a more manual removal of old and installing of new drivers?

FYI: I don't keep track of software related stuff other than games. Though I DIY the PC myself, I don't really read much about the driver issues etc.

Haha...yup just got back the card today & replaced with waterblock, the fan put into the box 

Mostly wont sell as their tri x is still under warranty seems like it comes with vram and vrm sinks

Im not planning to watercool as its too much of a hassle for me 
with current stock cooling i dont dare to oc at all 

The Verdict
The MK-26 is a stunning product but comes at a rather hefty RM 269 (approx 80 USD) but it’s well worth it because it looks really beautiful.
Just bear in mind that you’ll still have to factor the cost for a fan or 2. Size wise it’s huge, a tower casing like my N200 couldn’t fit a GPU with the MK26 on it. My BitFenix Phenom-M accomodates the cooler comfortably.

Someone posted the firestrike scores between this 285 and 280X and it's very close.

It's interesting since 285 specs is alot less than 280X.

Unfortunately AMD,i don't like those games that much!

guys want some insight on my r9 290 upgraded my cooler using mk-26 now but some times when i game the screen go blank and there is still sound the gpu does not seem to be hot.

is this a driver issue or my gpu is giving problem

last i check, it was same amount of stream processor as 7950 but memory bus reduced from 384-bit to 256-bit

looks like the Tonga is faster than Tahiti. Wait till they come up with the 384-bit version, I think that'll be the 285X.

2) 285 have four times the amount of asynchronous compute engines than 280, so better tesselation performance. In Assassin's Creed Black Flag which heavily uses tesselation, the 285 is faster than 280X.

I seem like have problem with this driver, whenever my pc turn idle it will never turn on unless by resetting 

I'm using 14.8 version which said for APU, so far didn't encountered this problem
