Sometime you have to look at the market condition during SC discount offer. Many times I found that just because of chasing the 0% or 1% offer, I have bought at higher price than if I wait for the dip to top up or accumulate more. Need to make sure that we're not penny wise and pound foolish. Yes, 0% is tempting, but is the timing fit into your investment system/methodology?

nobody asks you to go all in during 0% offer. I never encouraged blind investment. I am just pointing out that there is no point paying additional SC where you can buy somewhere cheaper.
*
Again need to assess whether it make sense to split your portfolio into multiple locations just because of 0% SC special offers

hmm.gif is this the same fund Xuzen said in post #1140, that can fulfill one wildest fantasy.?
how long hv you got it? negative IRR and ROI.? hmm.gif
*
I think so. The number is incorrect as after checking, there is missing dividend that have ex-date on June 27th. If include this, then it may be the one that fulfill your wildest fantasy rclxms.gif . New IRR @ 15%. I'll update my post.

QUOTE(yklooi @ Jul 4 2014, 11:35 AM)
Investing in markets is sometimes like trying to catch a ball. You don't position yourself at where the ball has been in order to catch it. In order to catch a ball, you position yourself at where you think it is going to land. So, when looking at markets, don't get engrossed tracking where it has been and how it has been performing. Of far more vital importance is where you think markets will be! Accordingly, using historical performance to judge where you think future market performance will be does not usually turn out well. Just because the US market had a great year last year doesn't mean it will have yet another great year this year. And conversely, just because Asian markets had a relatively quiet year last year doesn't mean this year will be a quiet one as well.

Looking forward, I see much to be positive about Asian markets but the markets here have not raised much to reflect that. So, there is the opportunity to enter Asian markets now. This is exactly like catching a ball. You look to where you think it will land, not where it has been. I believe Asian markets will surprise many on the upside going forward. The key thing is to be patient. Asia's time will come.

Asia's Time will Come

now if U can put numbers to it and a deadline, U can sell a Call or Put Option on DJ (dunno what) or S&P500 (SPX) smile.gif

eg. Selling a naked Call
i bet that...
S&P 500 will NOT hit 2080
by end of 3rd week of July 2014 (ie Fri opening)
for $0.30 premium per unit (3 contracts *100 units)

OR
eg. Selling a naked Put
i bet that..
S&P 500 will not hit 1830
by end of 3rd week of July 2014 (ie Fri opening)
for $0.40 premium per unit (2 contracts *100 units)

heheh - bet lar by systemizing and sell time / probabilities tongue.gif
*
Wah, your options buying power must be huge that they let you sell naked thumbup.gif

Lets talk about % as this will be the same no matter the size of investment. I'm interested to know your annualized return as absolute value does not mean much. Thanks.

Agree with you. Most probably the 100% equity holdings in FSM only constitute 10-30% of the retirees' exposure. The rest are in properties and fixed income/retirement annuities.

My FSM portfolio is only 8% of my total UT portfolios. The rest in PM.

Prefers RHB-OSK Income Fund 2
*
Ya, I don't really fond of these bond funds as well. Just maintaining same fund house as equity for switching purpose. But RHB-OSK Islamic Bond Fund is getting good return. Mine at 6.2% annualized return atm.

Equities are bullish AND bonds only have downsides from here. Most bond funds are going nowhere, including previously award-winning AmDynamic Bond. Rather park in Cash Management Fund earning steady 3.1% p.a.
*
But all my bond funds in FSM has been going up in the last 3 months except for that dynamite just blew up again. All my bond fund in PM are getting more than 3.1% annualized return.

QUOTE(PhakFuhZai @ Jul 7 2014, 12:11 PM)
damn, got issue with FPX

sent payment to FSM using CIMB via FPX, then the waiting time was too long until FSM returned time out and transaction failed, just before the CIMB clicks returned transaction success

now, CIMB said that the money has went through to FSM, while FSM said will need to check with CIMB first

after this incident, I no longer dare to use FPX anymore, rather to use conventional method such as online transfer due to less inter-party waiting time and more direct.
*
It is ok one. Happened to me many times before and not limited to FSM only, other bills as well. In the end, if banker side already went thru, it will get update on receiving side in couple of days due to the time out.
