seriously guy... told myself already long time ago if i ever kena 3ROD then i would say bye2 to microsoft! another thing that really pissed me off now is i just renewed my gold live for 12 months!

Now I guess people would know why I concerned about the 3ROD ... it's kinda weird as the first Xbox seems to be fine and Xbox 360 been out for quite some time yet till now not just the 3ROD problem seems to persist but can't be fixed easily as well.

Sorry to hear that Bro, I'm using my third XBOX 360 now, the first two died on me but luckily they were under warranty. I'm considering to sell off the current one if the latest XBOX 360 Elite is using the 65nm chip and two more things that bug me a lot will be the 120GB HDD and HDMI ....... Arrghhhh ........Why didn't Microsoft included that from the very beginning. PS3 will be following Microsoft's footsteps as well as I heard that the future batch of PS3 consoles will come with vibrating controllers as the lawsuit has been dropped and the rumored God Of War III will support rumble function. To be honest, it's best to wait than to be an early adopter. Even though I waited until last year, that wasn't good enough, I guess I should wait at least 2 years plus instead. It's funny why Microsoft released the Elite version after such a long time the console was first launched, maybe feeling a lot of pressure from Sony and the number of rising cases whereby the XBOX 360 consoles failed prematurely.

If it's not for DOA4, GOW and the list of first party titles, I would have bought the PS3 instead, it's disappointed that the shop had to replace two of my consoles and I'm now using the third one. Hopefully, this console will not give me problems but I'm planning to go for the Elite version and if it's still crappy like the original console, that's it, I give up. At least I managed to finished GOW. Who knows, maybe GOW 2 will appear on PS3. 

hey i did not really follow the xbox thread but from the looks of it, this 3rod thingie is really eating up the user and as we are the end users of the product, we r at the highest point of frustration.

even though i dont own 1, but then i can imagine how it feels 2 lost a next-gen console + new 12 months gold... feel sorry 4 u man.

m$ shld really start responding 2 this matter or is this their secret 2 gaining more sales.. putting a time bomb in the console?!

true both princeofpersia and my 360 also got extra fan blowing inside and yet still both of us 3rod lah. even bro alkt also bought the super heavy duty twin fans and exchanged with the 360 twin stock fans and in end also 3rod...

Guess I'll be joining the 3ROD club soon... just had my first 3ROD while playing oblivion...      I restarted the machine and currently it works fine. If this one brokes, I'll sell off the accesorries and games and I'll get a PS3.... or i'll just claim at Singapre as mine is asian set unmodded... either way, I'll not getting Microsoft product anymore!

please take good extreme care of your 360 now onwards. ventilation on the 360 must be very2 careful. well like mine, it still happened too but at least on your side it's not too late yet and you should try all things to avoid the deadly 3rod.
how to complain because most of u bought not those officials release 360. look at SG, any 3rod just send back for replacement so nothing to complain. again, most 3rod due to the gpu thing and it's manufacturing defects... mine confirmed already also gpu problem.

Is there anyway to keep the 360 from overheating? i gonna get mine soon. I watch somewhere on youtube that u need too keep the 360 away from walls and don't stand it up vertically. And don't cover those holes on the brick.

Aluminium foil is too thin lol. I use aluminium that people use to attach the windows frame when building a house. My father say can get it at hardware shop selling those batu-bata and those construction thingies. Forgot the name already... I'll ask him later.

actually the xclamp was a success 2 weeks ago . but it 3rol . then i fix it back but using the cheap thermal paste then it when smooth . 3 times it didn't 3rol . but something is problem that is . it goes 2rol after 2 minutes ( roughly i cannot go to stage 3 with Dead Or Alive 4 story mode ) . then i put it again . then it goes 3rol forever .. now the error code is 4421 / 4420 .. 

do i need to check the error code before doing the xclamp .

if i seeing 3rol i cannot do the xclamp or i need to check the right error for the xclamp fix ? .. 

WHAT? you did it till it sparking? I think you better check every component or stop trying to revive your console. You didn't cover every plastic parts or components with aluminium foil? Lucky you only did it with hairdryer, not a real heatgun that use to melting paint. Now can you imagine what will happen then?

You said you get your washer and skrew from Djinn right? In that case you only need 1 on top and 1 at  bottom of mainboard. That is enough. There are two different size (thickness) of washer we're talking here. Me and Tot31 using M5 (1,2 - 0,8mm) and Djinn using M10 (2,3 - 1,7mm) or M12 (2,8 - 2,2mm). So thats mean we are using 2 washer equal to 1 that Djinn are using. So don't get confuse with some opinion on what numbers are ideal for it.

have u done 12v fan modd + air duct tunnel by rbjtech?? if not yet, do that...it will bring a lot of difference....x-clamp only improve heat transfer from cpu to heatsink...
without proper air ventilation, sooner or later will get 3rod again.

  i've done mine today....the result is unbelieveble.....before modd i measure the temperature at the lower case directly under gpu,
it was 46 celcius...after modded 29 celcius...hard to believe. but maybe it was due to the room temperature, i set my room a-cond(in office)
to the max and the temperature sensor i used read 19 degree celcius.

of course by doing the 12v bypass and air duct will confirm bring down heat.

but I scare "some " unit need heats then cold air~

I got one machine very funny syptom ... must be at precise 30 celcius or so ... too hot~ 2 red... too cold... 3 ring.. apap la....
