Hi,
Just for sharing purposes..
We do not categorised it into cheap pasar malam sp and expensive branded sp. It's too generic.
We prefer OEM, OEM Branded and Premium sp.
OEM normal - mostly cater to the mass market. Not much investment in brand marketing, most features on the packaging and marketing material are copied from other well known brands in the market. Mainly produced in China.
OEM branded - mostly product extension by a brand. Price are higher than OEM normal due to branding awareness. Invested resources into marketing, branding. Such companies normally also sells other accessories such as casings, cables and other products too. SP is one of the range of products. Don't expect the quality to be a lot better than those normal OEM. Mainly produced in Korea or China.
Premium - These are the brands that fully focus only 1 range of product only, sp only or casings only. Quality is the higher priority as their reputation and incomes derived from only 1 products. You will see innovation and creativity in these brands which will eventually copied by the OEMs. Mainly made from USA or Japan. Some made in China too.
For SP, its best you look for features rather than branding. for PET film, 1 3H hardness is 3H hardness no matter what brands it is. even with the difference of quality, it won't have significant difference in the quality. Same goes to glass sp. Look out for features instead.
Key features of a good quality sp
1. PET film - oleophobic coating, higher pencil hardness of 4H or 5H, 360 degrees privacy
2. Glass - type of glass (AGC, fiber glass, soda lime, Corning gorilla glass), Oleophobic coating durability
Hope this help
