Who got free wheel arch cover to give sleep.gif. Still haven't gotten a replacement so far for the front left that broke around the securing point. Recently it started rubbing on the wheels judging from the marks on it.

Normal service should be okay but asking them to like researching where and how to solve the noise need passion and it is very rare at workshop outside unless you're doing it yourself.
Headbranch just like any other workshop. What's good bout them is doing warranty claim which is fast.
Go buy new one only la or go chop shop find.

QUOTE(liette` @ Mar 29 2014, 02:56 AM)
hi guys

got a question.

planning to change my front brake pads and i called up a SC, they charge rm95 for genuine person front brake pad set.

however, i went to protonparts website and i saw the price as rm283.

what could cause such huge discrepancy?
*
No idea, but if you're interested to know, you can get better brake pads like the Bendix Metal King Titanium front brake pads for around RM100 ~ RM130 depending on who you're buying it from, and it is better than the stock pads and much needed for those who have a B-Line / M-Line Persona that has a weaker braking system than a H-Line Persona due to one or more downgraded braking component(s).

Q: Does Standard Line suffer from the same problem? hmm.gif
I assume that for Persona SVs the braking system is pretty much the same with what you get on a H-Line Persona/Elegance.

I tot Proton handling is the best of its class??? Itu accident, driver's problem, brake problem or tyres problem.

As for braking system, we still don't if SV is using brake pump similar to 1.6 H-Line or 1.3 saga type.

Hi sifus,

does Bendix Metal King Titanium brakes produce a lot of dust compared to ceramics or is it just better than stock brake pads?

any specific brand for ceramic brake pad recommended?

the stock brake pads really produces a lot of dust...

Thanks in advance.

Bendix MKT does have quite a bit of dust.

Off-topic: Lol.. just now go pump petrol also can almost cari masalah doh.gif. At Bandar Utama there's this shell and petron side by side, and people normally go through the petron station to enter Shell if they want to use their BonusLink card and want to sayang their campro wub.gif or go in a circle route to reach there. I reached Petron and waited at the exit/entrance of Petron, definitely not blocking anyone and the road either, this passenger in a black vios drove out from Shell, stared at me for as long as I was in view and kept shaking his hand at me, all the while while his friend was busy exiting from the designated entrance to Shell. doh.gif

I mean come on la seriously, this sort of thing also want to blow out of proportion doh.gif. My DVR could capture the car and the hand gestures but not his face doh.gif.

Abang... You cuba stick Proton badge on your Hona see. The handling will be worst than Kancil...

Ok.. on a more serious note, I don't really know how it compares against most of the other cars. I just know that driving a Persona is very much to my liking. All I need is better tyres because the current one's sidewall softness memang not syiok at all. sleep.gif

after ear testing, the sound i coming from the IAFM..,,my FC since i bought has been 9.0L/100km.. went to SC 1st time round, but they said it was characteristics of the car. i was like wtf, characteriestics?  mad.gif

so i change SC to Penang one instead of the one from kedah, in hopes that they would clarify and do something about it
*
How did you get those FC figures? What is your driving style and the type of traffic condition that you drive in most of the time? 9.0L/100KM seems kinda normal to me especially if you drive short distances / in the city or town a lot, maybe a slightly higher than the average but nothing to be worried about. I'm also suffering from the IAFM noise symptom since quite some time ago, and I don't see any difference to my fuel consumption nor the performance especially in the low rev range, though maybe it's just me being not sensitive enough.

i drive mostly 10% highway and 90% in town bro...idk about how to see Fc when IAFM giving prob, but one thing i know is got slight soft "tak tak tak" sound coming from it.
*
Turn off everything in your car except the engine, then sit and listen quietly. Is there a knocking sound that seems to be coming from the right side of the dashboard? If yes, it's either the vacuum pump or the IAFM module (as I was told). Otherwise if it isn't, it could be the purge (EGR) valve on the left side of the car that is faulty and needs a replacement. I bought my replacement purge valve for between RM100 ~ RM120. I don't remember the exact price. If it's the IAFM module it costs between RM2xx (read this from somewhere, I think it's the first post of the thread) to RM3xx. I was quoted RM3xx for it from a spare parts shop but I didn't buy cause I thought I solved the problem by changing the purge valve until a few days later when the knocking sound became even louder and more noticeable. doh.gif

Anyway, your FC figure with 90% driving done in town seems pretty normal for the Persona. I always get a meter reading of over 10L/100KM if I reset the meter and do my driving mostly in town.

what i can confirm that, its confirm coming from right hand side. sometimes, as i the rev meter climbing up, the sound of the "tak tak" increases. I'm got my personal fomen to check and he says its fomen.. all i need now is SC to confirm so i can claim since still under warranty. some fellow personians in my hometown says, its not that sever, so no need worry or change. To me, i feel that, its a brand new car that's only 6 months old, and i'm paying monthly, it hurts and annoys when i feel that there is a prob with the car.. *sighs* i will get to know this Friday lo when go send for checkup

BTW, thanks bro for the tips, maybe can ask them check the purge cannister and vacuum pump one time  biggrin.gif
*
I see. Push for the warranty claim if so. thumbup.gif If you still cannot claim, maybe try sending a message to Proton on facebook / we care i care ke apa to see if you can get resolved. This is a pretty well known issue (at least to Persona owners, mostly) so I don't see why should you be denied any replacement.

Hmmm. Not very clear about it, sorry. But I believe as long as it's an authorised service center/ Proton service center it can be done.

Anyone knows what is that?

The fuel filter? It's some metal shaped like an oil filter but with small tubes leading out at each end. It's located under the rear right of the car and is suggested by Proton to be replaced every 60,000KM.

Still very happy with SV though.

Yesterday tried to go full pedal to the metal and love the performance of the car.

What? sleep.gif "Jangan buat kerata kalau tak boleh" - Mr Chin.

I would suggest that you add some engine oil additives like the Ceratec, and maybe the NanoTech powder thing (I haven't tried this one), and maybe change to some oil that allows for smooth revving. Maybe change the ATF (if you're driving an Auto) too to some premium fluid. I think you will like it even better. Everything feels very smooth now especially when it's accelerating. The loudness is still there though from revving over 4K RPM, but much more reduced compared to last time.

QUOTE(wenco @ Apr 3 2014, 09:18 AM)
Hi Bro ,

Here how it happen on my Day 3 persona SV.
I was parking at the road side n getting off my car for a quick smoke . The weather at the moment is raining .

I notice there was mist( water leak in) caught inside my headlamp ( passenger side) , the other one is ok (driver side).
So damn first of thought , this is abnormal for a new car man.if it is normal , it should be happen on both of the headlight under same condition , environment . Right ?!
At the moment , I not yet turn on the light yet.( late evening)

The mist gone while I finally reach home , light on for 2 hours under small rain during night time while driven home.

This really piss me off . Shock me n drain my new car mood sad.gif

Mind to share if any of you have this experience on yr persona previously ??
Pls guide me how to make a complain to which branch SC(KL area) to get this problem solved.

Other minor  problem detected ,
- Stock viper didn't vipe evenly ( not expecting much )
- dusty stock brake pad, noisy brake sound at low speed.
-light vibrating during low speed
- typical heavy car handle , and door hardly closed when push.
- some noise on the radio transmit( hopefully , not antenna wiring problem)
*
Claim
Claim
Claim
Ask for advise. Light vibrating? How? Where? Whole car?
Ask any SC to readjust the door.

Go to Proton's Centre of Excellence to make all the claims. I believe they should honor all the claims above since your car is still new. If not maybe make noise on Proton's facebook page like some guy in this forum until they decide to help you.

QUOTE(Cavino @ Apr 3 2014, 10:35 AM)
You still suggest ppl to add 3rd party addictives to engine oil kah? If addictives is powder based, even worse, coz that means solvent or not, the powder might form sludge later on. Although I heard ceratec works, its long term effect on engine is still unknown. I would rather the owner change to a better quality engine oil rather than add any 3rd party addictives.
*
Dunno. I guess I will know when the anjing jam one day.
