first of all when you think of buying car, think of your budget. say you have 50k. So if you ask me i dun advice you to stretch your budget further unless you have deep pocket but just plan to spend the 50k on car.
One thing to take note of is the maintenance of the car. If you are frequent highway traveller, it means that you will reach your service mileage much earlier compared to others.
Every normal service cost at least Rm150. This includes only Engine oil, oil filter and labor charges.
Major service cost even more when you need to change your spark plug, auto transmission oil, air filter.
when you travel more, tyres wear out also. A tyre for the 15''persona cost not less than Rm200 per piece which means 4 piece is not cheap.
If you are able to fork out the extra money for maintenance even after stretching your budget then is not a problem.
As I travel really much on highway, and I also like to vroom vroom, my car maintenance had not been cheap even with just routine maintenance.
Considering my car which is 4years old, I clocked 130k km. I estimate my car maintenance cost as follow rounding it into lower figure:

First 3 service: Engine oil, oil filter Rm120 labor free total :Rm360
15k km service: Same Rm120 labor Rm30 total Rm150
20k km: Rm120 + spark plug Rm30 + ATF Rm120 + Air filter Rm10 + coolant Rm30 + labor Rm50 total : RM360
25k km: Rm150
30k km: Rm150
35k km: Rm150
40k km: Rm360 +brake oil Rm60 =Rm420
45k km: Rm150
50k km: Rm150 + brake pad rm150+ tyres 4 piece Rm200/piece= Rm800 total Rm1100
55k km: Rm150
60k km: Rm360+ fuel filter Rm30 = Rm390
65k km: Rm150
70k km: Rm150
75k km: Rm150
80k km: Rm420 + timing belt service Rm800 =Rm1190
85k km: Rm150
90k km: Rm150
95k km: Rm150
100k km: Rm360 + Rm150 brake pad + tyres 4 piece Rm210 per piece = Rm840 total Rm1320
105k km: Rm150
110k km: Rm150
115k km: Rm150
120k km: Rm390 + brake oil Rm60 =Rm450
125k km: Rm150
130k km: Rm150

tyre rotation at every 20k km to ensure even wear on 4 tyres : Rm50

total add up spending is Rm8190 over 4 years which mean I am averaging Rm170 per month.
petrol for the car assuming is fully highway which let's give it a nice Rm0.15/km, Clocking 130k km spend Rm19500 on petrol which is average of Rm406 per month.

This means you still need an average of Rm576 to spend on the car every month not including your installment for the car. The figure is at a very low estimate where I did not include price increase in petrol, parts, and labor service too.

Do choose a car that you can afford to drive it while enjoying life.

It seems that there are a lot of car the price decrease... try to check around... myvi 1.5 only 48k++ after discount... if i am not mistaken... haha...
just drop the review. but it did not say free petrol or anything... anyway i have submited waiting for approval.

Not everyone is like a jibai who got money in wallet to simply buy car without considering the budget limit.
Not everyone is like a jibai who can afford to makan jiken malam that goes by pieces and weight that cost RM5+ a kilo instead 1 night, RM200. 

On side note, once car issues are sorted out initially, the maintenance are actually cheaper than other cars especially after you go outside workshop. Itu air filter and oil filter pricing already save me a bundle vs Hondas.
