QUOTE(Agent 45 @ Mar 26 2014, 08:43 PM) salary depends on the company, location or your qualification(diploma or degree). northern area around 1.8 to 2.2k for fresh grad while in kl should be around 2.2k to 2.6k. for university, USM is one of the best in our country. yes, after u graduated, u can work overseas. if u really want to go overseas, after completing your degree, go for professional exam, become a registered qs and then get your rics accreditation. fyi, quantity surveying has nothing to do with maths. ŗics accreditation can get it without working experience??

QUOTE(Agent 45 @ Mar 29 2014, 08:36 AM) architecture will not be possible, however for civil, i'm not quite sure. civil is more on technical side, but qsing is more on costing and contract. If qs is nothing do with math, how they calculated the costing?? Civil engineering is it have related with math??

QUOTE(Agent 45 @ Mar 29 2014, 08:53 PM) for building material quantity, we calculate using area(m2) or volume(m3). for costing, just use simple calculation that u learn during primary school, u dont use complex mathematical formula to get the cost. the important thing is, your knowledge in building construction, how the thing is done on site. for example, if u dont know how reinforcement bar is tied, or how tiles are laid, how u are going to measure the quantity? or how u are going to calculate the cost of tiling? for civil, i'm not sure, but i think it should be something like what u learn in secondary school physics. if u really want to do something related with math, i dont think quantity surveying or civil engineering is suitable for u since these two are more related to construction rather than math. Did QS need to expert in material?? Cause different type of tiles got different price right??

QUOTE(Agent 45 @ Mar 30 2014, 09:38 AM) yes, the more u know, the better. so that u can select or propose the most cost efficient materials with the required quality or function. if u're not aware, quantity surveyor is also known as cost engineer. u might learn this in uni too depending on your course structure. but dont worry, u will learn more when u started to work. Does quantity surveyor can open a firm by themself?? Or needed some other skills??
