Hi all,

New EB Premium owner reporting in...just got it today...my EB color is E.Brown...

I saw a layer of tint for all my windows...this is stock tint...is it illegal?

The sales person also offered me a free tint from SafetyTint...

Mine is 2014 batch with the HillAssist vacuum...but also disappointed with the stock CD player as I'm looking forward for touchscreen built-in GPS navigator...

so is the 2013 model didnt have HillAssist vacuum??hmm
im getting the 2013 stock because they offering 4k rebate for stock clearances

I've followed this forum for a week before I purchase my unit.

Read through the forum pages and get lots of valuable information.

Came to know only certain unit with year make 2014 onwards have HillAssist.

I insisted the sales person to give 2014 with HillAssist vacuum unit.

The latest promo is rebate RM2500, Yes Hurdle 2GB free for a year and SafetyTint.

I'm still in dilemma whether should or shouldn't remove the stock ECOTint.

As for the CD player, I paid for 78K for this MPV, at least in my opinion should come with built-in navigator...then its only value for money...hehehe

The stock ECOTINT is premium grade, keep it. It will cost RM800 over to get an equivalent replacement - front/rear windscreen RM200 each, and the sides ~RM200 per side of 3 windows. If you want to add additional tint on top of ECOTINT, better not, as it would void ECOTINT's warranty.

The tint that sales person offered me is worth over rm1000...from SafetyTint...they told me the tint thickness is 5mil. Can withstand windows breakage and has a warranty of 7 years. The sales person said most of the customers remove the ECOtint. They also offered to tint all 8 mirrors. Thats why I'm in dillemma which to choose...haiz.

Please do some research. IWFA is a good place to start:
The two sections should help you know what you need to make a choice.

Now, here are my silly questions to you:
1. Who gives RM1000 worth of products away for free?
2. If he said most customers removed their tint, and you believed him, and removed yours too, and he can keep saying the same thing to the next customer.
3. Can you add the free tint on top of the existing Ecotint, and keep both in warranty?
4. If your car window got smashed and broken into, does the safety tint warranty cover damages?
5.

videos: 4 mil film broke at first attempt.

shoduken,

1. your EB 2nd row seat izit 1 full straight row that can support 3~4 passenger?

2. or 2nd row seat is a 2 separated single seater?

If your answer is no.2, then its a captain seat lo...

EB Prime usually comes with 7" headrest LCD monitor...

Yesterday, drove my a week old EB from Penang to Cameron Highland. I had travelled through North South Expressway. I like the EB response when I step on the accelerator. However, I'd smell some burning when I've accelerate over 140km/h. Not so sure what's burning under the hood though, but the burning smells gone after a while.

Oh ya, may I ask what is S.A.T? The burnt smell seems gone when I press this SAT button...

I also like the FC as a full tank of petrol enables me travel from Pg to Cameron to Ipoh and back to Pg again...time to send my EB to SC for its 1st service, my ODO is reading 911...

Tomorrow I am going for my 1st Service. Need advice from friends here.

1. Does it better to use Fully Synthentic or Semi which suggest by Servce centre?

List to complain tomorrow

1. Side mirror vibrate
2. Wind sound of driver side screen
3. Krek..krek sound on driver seats
*
For my 1st service, I use semi although the SC ask me to go for Full Syn.
Just my opinion, 1st/2nd/3rd go semi then the 4th service use Full Syn.
The service manual advice is 1K,5K and 10K then subsequent service is on 20K

Yesterday, took my 1month old EB travelled back to Ipoh thru N-S highway. Since the road is less traffic, stepped the pedal >140km/h. Again this is the 2nd time I smell something burning. Then I slowed down and change to SAT mode and speed-off >140km/h to verify my previous encounter. To my suprise, under SAT mode there's no more burning smell. Not sure what's cooking though under the bonet...

I'm thinking probably at highway, maybe we need to use SAT mode???

On my way back from Ipoh somewhere at Taiping area while I'm at auto cruising @ 120km/h, something flashes...cilaka liao kena AES...

Burnt smell may come from other things.
Extra: Tips for CVT

alexei,
Thanks for the reading material. It also mention we should stop if we smell something like burning rubber, that's exactly what I've experienced

Another discovery is when I made a sharp turn (either to left/right), upon recovering from a turn, there's a "tuk" sound which I think coming from the drive shaft. Anyone experience this? I will highlight this to the SC on next service.

our CVT is steel belt... not rubber belt. so the burning rubber belt isn't applicable.

Those are guidelines for BUV tractors and farm machines  doh.gif Your Proton utilizes something different that that.

At the very least, you won't get any burnt rubber smell from your CVT  shakehead.gif

The burnt smell when you are driving aggressively is from the hot exhaust leaking into the cabin through the firewall.
