FC is equivalent to its power  brows.gif  cool2.gif

7-8km per litre in city  sweat.gif
*
my gawd. meaning for every RM70, around 250-290km only. quite petrol consume eh, this turbo engine. how about the previous cps?

QUOTE(YouDontKnowMyName @ Mar 26 2014, 02:53 PM)
I usually average around 8.5km/L for 100% city drive

Pretty reasonable to me considering it's power. Compared to Innova's 10km/L but very underpowered.
*
you mean innova 2.0L engine have better mileage? can go up to 10km? are you a driver for both cfe and innova?

I own an Exora Bold CFE myself.

The Innova's FC stats I obtained it from fuelly.com (http://www.fuelly.com/car/toyota/innova/2012)
The average fuel consumption stats are submitted by multiple owners over a period of time.

It's not a reliable way of gauging fuel consumptions between cars, but I just used it for comparison sake smile.gif
*
i see. reason im asking because the roads that you use and the driving patterns that you have different compare to every one of us. hence if you've drive both, then easier to make a comparison.

btw what do you mean by innova underpower? 2.0L still underpower?

QUOTE(neo1point3 @ Mar 29 2014, 10:17 PM)
When people ask me about FC, i always give the worst case scenario...hence, 7-8km/litre

Personally i get 8.5km/litre on average in city
*
i see. then not so bad if you can hit around 300km for rm70 petrol. currently driving myvi and rm70 i can hit up to 400km.

btw guys, when you purchase the exora CFE, what kind of rebates the sales person give you?

I'm quite keen on Exora CFE Standard version. I ask the sales rep to include for me a reverse camera, fog lamp at the front, and the door visor. she told me she will rebates for me RM800, but those accessories going to cost me RM1k. so in return, I just need to top up RM200.

The promo for Exora so little? Last year my family bought MyVi and I got close to RM1.5k rebates.

QUOTE(YouDontKnowMyName @ Mar 30 2014, 03:05 AM)
I have a friend of mine who once I let him have a go in my Exora, his feedback was that the Exora is very powerful compared to his mom's Innova (he often drives his mom's Innova).

According to him, the Innova requires hard revving for it to accelerate decently. Whereas for the exora, once the turbo kicks in, all the acceleration power is there when you need it.

Since then, he constantly complains about his mom's Innova being underpowered and how he wishes he could turbocharge it laugh.gif

Moreover, on paper (the specs) the Innova IS underpowered.
Based on the calculations of the engine output figures (Horsepower, torque), and the kerb weight of the Innova.

The exora may not be the most powerful MPV around, but thanks to the 1.6 turbo engine, it's definitely one of the better performing MPVs.
The Innova doesn't have much torque despite being a 2.0 in order to lug around the massive weight of the car (due to the engine being naturally aspirated, as opposed to a turbo engine which has lots of torque)

Torque is very important to an MPV, just like how it is to a pickup truck  nod.gif
Myvi small and light ma. The engine doesn't need to work as hard to get it moving laugh.gif
*
i see, then probably you are right then. when i test drive exora and driving uphill, it felt powerful and no lagging (i dont need to over press the fuel pedal). but the engine noise is really loud (especially i compare to those peugeot turbo engine) but i guess it's a wrong comparison since the price nearly double what proton cost us right. so far are you happy with exora? any problems faced? How much you bought?

I bought it when they were having year end sales last year, so I guess the discounts I got were good.

So far up to now of owning the EB (4 months already), I'm overall very satisfied with it. No problems so far.
The turbo power is what puts a smile on my face everytime brows.gif
*
can share with me on the discount that you have? RM2k? you can pm me if sensitive.

so if this X1R is a ongoing problem, then I dont think it's recommended for anyone to purchase any brand new exora yet right...

since from the article, they clearly mentioned to stop the production. and no workaround it seems?

gosh...and i nearly want to book it in april. now really having a second thought.

X1R is engine additive which SC push us to buy & use during service interval

No use X1R = No damage to turbo
Use X1R = Damage the turbo

anyway, the letter didn't say anything about stop exora production
*
i see. i thought proton has this known issue and still producing it. so just make sure i stay away from X1R then.

i have heard "rumors" that because of this turbo, proton generally easily overheat. especially with one recent case that the exora on fire and kids trap in it. so worry, but i guess that's just coincidence.

actually i'm keen also for standard but i really hope to add these accessories into it like

Fog Lamp, Reverse Camera, Door Visor..i know these can be added in manually. proton sales people say it costs around RM1.2k.

but i'm not sure if front armrest and reverse censor can be added also. forgotten to ask.

gosh...i intend to get a brown exora also..so will be similar to taxi (though taxi is silver mix wit brown). but if i'm a taxi drive, the turbo engine will cost me a bomb for those town errands...kinda pity them. they should ask them standardized it either saga or exora.

and now not too sure if getting exora for my family mpv is a good idea after all

wow sure? then good news la.. i will print this and will show them when service..
*
what is the silver thingy in the engine bay? Is it available for all the 2014 models, including those manufactured in Jan 14?

Good day to all,

been using bold for 2+ years already..
just a piece of my cake

Pro:
Good driving experience
Aircond superb
become best friend with SC staff...... :-) don't need to flame them....they are doing the corrective action only

Cons

PREVENTIVE Action SHOULD BE THE MANUFACTURER
1) change pair of headlamps
2) change pair tail lamp
3)OWV
4) ABS sensor
5) pair of front disk brakes
6) lost count of reflash ecu
7) petrol smell
8) lessER annual leave
9) MOST OF ALL lost driving  a new vehicle with a peace of mind and TRUST!!

warranty almost over now.....don't no whats will coming....
*
my gawd...i was thinking to give Proton a chance because I thought after all these years, they would have finally improve their quality assurance. but those mini minor things, yet very important like disk brakes, ABS sensor and countless of reflash ecu...it really scare the hell out of me now to even consider an exora sweat.gif

muhammad_azadAs previous reported, you get a bunch of service vouchers, and only mineral oil can fit into that budget. Total vouchers is valued at RM945. Thanks to tst71 for that valuable information. Nothing to be disappointed about, if you compare to the owners in the last two years.

luckykid5Most of the time, people report problems with their car, and less on satisfaction. Few of us here express satisfaction with our rides, and we can only do it once, or twice. But, the same problems will be reported by different users over and over again. Check out other threads like Mazda, Toyota, Nissan and Honda, you'll see problems with their SC and QC. So, it is up to you to interpret the situation.

I am not pro-P1 or P2, just that I own their cars.
*
pheww...good to hear...then when i buy some time end of this year, i pray that i'm one of the lucky one then thumbup.gif imo, it's one of the best value mpv out there. huge, stable, all rows come with air cond. probably only cons is dunno which SC is good and high petrol consumption and engine super noisy? tongue.gif

Petrol consumption is on the high side, but not too bad if you compare it with another C-segment MPV such as Innova. That one's underpowered yet consumes alot of petrol too. At least the EB consumes alot of petrol with a valid reason, power tongue.gif

To me I think most of the noise is coming from the CVT gearbox, not the engine. The engine only gets noisy when you accelerate harshly smile.gif
*
I think I remembered you or other forumer mentioned this before. Innova also as high petrol consumption yet underpower. biggrin.gif and it's fair to compare EB to Innova, rather than Livina or Alza or Avanza as these are smaller MPVs. And I think those Mazda5, Peugeot 5008 which is more than RM130k has similar high petrol consumption as well?

Anyhow I'm surprised to hear that CVT gearbox give more noise. if we disable the cvt, maybe lesser noise? Generally ppl are talking that when any neighbour starts their Preve/EB with CFE, it's louder than lorry sweat.gif

QUOTE(lowprofile @ Jun 24 2014, 12:30 AM)
Exora cps a lot more noise compare to CFE..I dunno but I hv both model parked in front of my house..engine bay n cabin noise so much different.modifications almost similar.but CFE less noisy

If want to reduce/eliminate unwanted noise maybe anyone here can share their experience with autofoam@sound mat product on their vehicle..I nvr try both product yet
*
CPS noisier than CFE? First to hear. Nv really find CPS is noisy.

By right EB should be compared with other C-segment MPVs such as Innova as they are in the same size segment. But in Malaysia, we compare between price points due to our wonderful tax structure laugh.gif

If I'm not mistaken, the Pug 5008 and Mazda 5 seem to have better fuel economy (at least on paper).
Plus the fuel economy stats on fuelly.com show that the Pug 5008 has an average between 13km/L - 16km/L.
And the Mazda 5 have averages of 10km/L. Not a reliable source for FC stats, but just for comparison sake only smile.gif

CVT gearbox gives alot of whiney noises when on the go, especially during acceleration (i assume when the CVT belt is continuously adjusting the ratios).
Preve/EB/Suprima S with CFE are ridiculously noisy from the outside because of the secondary cooling fan. I noticed another car that is just as ridiculously loud too is the Peugeot 208  whistling.gif

I'm not sure about you guys, but I noticed the secondary fan normally kicks in for sure when I have the air conditioning on. The moment I off the air conditioning, poof, the secondary fan goes away.
This is why sometimes when I wanna be discreet when in the car, I'll turn off the air conditioning to shut the secondary fan off  whistling.gif  whistling.gif
*
i sit on my friend's pug 308. very quiet. barely feel on the turbo at all.

and for mazda5, with skyactiv, i think now petrol consumption should be much better. anyhow, can't compare exactly since with that price, i can almost get 2 x EB brows.gif

i'll observe other EB on the secondary fan also

question. EB comes with 16inch rimm and EB Standard comes with 15inch rimm.

Now, my friend used to have a wira special edition with 16inch rimm. He told me that the car is far more stable, but SUPER makan minyak. When he change it back to the standard 15inch rimm like other wira, save alot petrol.

Is it the same for EB? Can't tell since it comes with Turbo.

EB and EB std both come with 16 inch rim.. normal exora is 15inch...
im also from waja before. from 195/55/r15 inch stock to 205/50/r16 inch te37 the fc is not different. but when change to 205/45/r17 inch ssr type F the FC suffer abit. so i think the same with EB. up 1 size shud not be a problem. and the width of tyre also effect this. not too wide from stock its okay. as per EB the stock is 205/55/r16. i upgrade to 215/45/r17...
*
http://www.carbase.my/car-comparison?id=2S...Xufr,2Qku88KG5c,

as you can see, the standard is 15inch RIM. and also for standard, it's 86KG lighter compare to the Bold edition. I also wonder why, probably partially because of the 15 inch lighter compare to 16?

btw, why you wanna change r16 to r17 for your EB? better stability? not worry will consume more petrol?

I don't think the rims alone will affect the weight by that much. It's definitely a combination of everything that's different between the 2 variants. For example, maybe the premium's leather seats are heavier than the cloth seats on the standard. Or maybe even the ceiling mounted screen adds a little bit of weight. Just assuming laugh.gif
*
you are right, just think that partially it impact. but logically it's 86kg lighter, so generally should be slightly more FC consumption lower. just that trying to find out what are those 86kg.

QUOTE(blo0dLuSt @ Jun 27 2014, 08:39 AM)
that spec is wrong. exora bold standard use steel 16 inch rim. i changed to 17 because of many tyre choice compared to 16 inch. and the price of tyre is almost the same between 16 and 17.. attached are the brochure from proton showing the std is 16 inch.

oh then maybe you can share with us on how's the 1) FC 2) Better stability maybe?
after you change to 17?

Buy it,take to SC and ask them to install the EVP for RM1.6K.2013 model has brake issues until my sis almost hit another car at speed of 20km/h.
*
so for those 2013 current owners, they have to spend RM1.6k for this EVP? Sigh..shouldn't proton do it to them for free? since price for 2013 and 2014 also same right earlier when they bought it? I mean imagine if 2015 they have something new, and existing 2014 customers have to pay for it?

i think toyota and perodua do it for FOC!
