This happen 2 weeks back.
When I got my PS4 from Sony, that Sony store didn't have games. So I was looking for games around. Wanted to get desperately a game to play. So decided Killzone since it should be slightly cheaper since the game is already out. Went to pertama complex ground floor got a shop. He charging me RM 280, wanted to leave but kena pestering "how much you want" stuff like that ... don't want to elaborate further on this.

Then I went digital mall sec 14. One shop (unfriendly guy) rm 260 and another just behind that shop at RM 205.

I wish you guys can post those rip off shops so others would be careful. Now I either get it from Impulse or download. I hate when ppl are bloody rude/dun want to layan and charging sky high.

Gamers Hideout at 1U is also another rip off shop. They selling Infamous SS for RM179 when it should be RM169. The boss & staff there is also rude & arrogant.

Extra rm 10 ok la. Online price in Lyn I know very competitive. If I go shop I don mind paying rm10 more coz I also know they have cost. For example, I was at a mall and wanted ffx ps3. Went brothers game shop they offer rm150, I take knowing impulse selling rm140.

But to charge rm200 plus for it and some more in a digital mall is blatant rip off lor. Probably rip off those people who are not internet savvy

Instead of listing the ripped off shop, how about getting the good shop listed?

We can know which shop cheap, and the shop can get free advertisement also. Win-win situation tongue.gif

I have to agree that retail store usually walk in price is different, even lyn games section the price they posted is for ppl on lyn if u walk in their shop they usually tell u a different price....

I think its just the culture in malaysia cause they expecting u to nego pricing, even in my shop if i offer walk in customers online prices right off the bat they will still ask for discounts ; ; so its usual to set it a bit higher and then offer them online prices so they feel good about it.

But ya 280 is rip off sell to tourist price lol.......

Actually, the shops can sell at whatever price they want to. It's their rights. It's not as if they are holding a knife and forcing you to buy from them. I mean, if you feel that the price is cray-cray, just walk away.

TS has no bad intentions for those shops either, he is just trying to create awareness. But again, creating awareness and making bad names of shops are two different things. Maybe if you should've just said that : These shops are selling higher than usual, rather than the word 'Rip-off' then it wouldnt come to this.

Creating awareness is fine but not to the extend of bad mouthing. I mean, everyone has to earn for a living right. If you are aware of the pricing, then just don't buy. Buy from those shops that you think that is more reasonable and just let it go.

For me, I will only purchase from known shops. Luckily I live in Subang, Heavyarm is very near for me, I can just dropby anytime. Don't have to hassle to look for cheapest game store within Klang Valley. Convenience is more important.

For me if I walk in and they offer rm170 for a game, I will try nego. If rm180 to 200 price they quote I straight walk out. Blatantly conning us.

I dun agree with those who are protecting the shops with extraordinary amount. A game I could get from RM 180 is marked up to RM 280 is too much!!! I don't mind if it's rm 20 more. This is like cheating customers. On top of that they are bloody rude as if that I'm getting the game for free. In fact in facebook there are already a group on food restaurant charging customer high price. Perhaps I should start one on PS4 rip Off game shops. Public opinion matters! I get very personal when idiots are rude to me.

Take for example Gamers Solution in pertama complex, they are very polite, helpful and the price is ok. Impulse is another one that post on time without any delay. In fact I also realise that some ps4 games are also cheaper in PSN, of course the drawback is that you can't sell it off.

The other rude and expensive shops are just digging their own grave. If they are trying to cheat customers then they should be posted here and shine them under the light.

there are few things that made them to actually jack up the prices, the most logical reasons would be few listed below:

1. popular, hard to get games
2. limited editions

of course, there are few personal reasons that made the price go up super high

1. lunch time, and they don't want to entertain you
2. they want the copy for themselves to play during working hour
3. extra, extra $$ for themselves

it boils down to 1 simple fact: they are just employee and it's not their shop so they don't care about the price. just walk away if the price is unreasonable, or suck it up like the other 67946875455 people who got their buttocks handed to h*deo Koj*ma's latest stealth 'mini game'

You see, we PS3/4 gamers are not cheap guys. We go for original and I'm sure most of us are from professional background. We are not some lame street kid that buys RM 5/- games. I have dealt with many gamers here with 2nd purchases, most of them drives honda/toyota/high end protons, these guys are not kids but professional office workers. We go to the shop to buy new games and not 2nd hand. Every time we buy a 2nd game (fr garage sales), shop dealers and game makers including Sony itself are running in loses.

So my question is, when we legally buy a NEW game (giving business)... why can't these shop fellows at least give face and reasonable prices? When a white guy masuk... they worship & entertain like mad. When Malaysian masuk, kena humiliated. I don't want to be that '67946875455' people, I have been provoked. I hope all the nasty shop dealers are reading this.

Well I not going to talk about shop that selling high or cheap price but I just want to talk about the service and treatment of the shop.
Gamers hideout is a one perfect example of an arrogant and the worst service in the gaming industry. They treat the customer like a dirt and invisible. When ppl politely ask certain question regarding game, they seem not interested or bother to answer at all although not many ppl at that time. Such a worst attitude for doing business
Actually I don't mind to pay slightly higher a price at the gameshop because I understand the rental and cost of other utility is high but with this kind of service, is not worth to buy from them using our hard earn money.

yea before this i never been to GH and have high expectations and when I went in there, I'm like a ghost wandering in the shop. Ask about games this and that, they just shake their head and continue chit chat with their friends.

gawd knows what were they thinking, but not us; i too had been treated badly in few game shops with jacked-up price and unmannerly treated (might be due to ,y my ah-pek look, unfashionable rugged clothes and a pair of worn-off slippers), some even balantly lied about non-R2jpn console can play monst*r hunt*r 3G when i inquired the shop 2 years back...

aren't surprised the name GH popup here tongue.gif
I won't call them a cutthroat shop, their price are still within reasonable range judging from they sells only ori games.
but their customer service is dependent on who you are or who you know there
if you frequent the shop and the staff there knows you or you're a mat salleh, then you'll be well treated
else you'll be treated like an invisible man/woman if you're new there or knows no one there

Some other shops, their main income are from those RM5 games, yet they still trying to hike up the ori game price ranging from 50% to 100% and treating their customer like sh1t
but there are some exception la... GS is one great example, reasonable priced games & consoles, and the best customer service I ever had from a game shop.

TS,no offense, but I really see nothing wrong with shop pricing high or the service is bad or something, its really their choice,if their price is high,no one will buy,if their price is good, people will buy, that's how I view it,it has nothing to do with cheating IMO,cause 80% of the Malaysians knows how to nego till the lowest in shop

I usually buy my games from an online seller who usually sells slightly lower than Impulse..

Gamers' Solution is another game shop that is trustworthy.. Usually I will recommend them to all my friends who want to purchase a new console from that shop.. smile.gif

For new games, I only get from Heavyarm. The amount of effort they put into CS and social network info update is awesome. It's like they've created a community. Anyway, back to price. Eventhough they claimed that they don't always have the best price, I find it cheaper compared to other places. Other places will jack up depending on demand. But all my PS4 and Vita titles seems consistent according to market RRSP.

Back in the PS2 era, when ori games are a rarity in Malaysia, I remembered purchasing FFX for RM250. And that's 10 years ago. Kena slaughter like crazy.

And for the record, I simply hate going to those small shops in Lowyat and Sungei Wang. Whenever I ask them if the title is Region1, they go blur and kept telling me that the game comes with English text.

next time get from Heavy arm or IMPULSE STORE...

or do research before buy, to be fair no one force u to pay extra, its nobody fault but your own, impatient is a nasty habit u need to control... people are out to make a profit ,its business after all nothing personal,

nobody scream over sony for making games cost so much where mass produce are a dime of dozen for their production cost..

if they are rude, just walk off, and never return, no need to emo about it, unless they force u to buy or cheated your money, if their service is good, well its up to u also to buy ,even if the item is mark up high...

i pay higher usually when service are great.. cause its my right.. if u are out for cheapest and lowest bargain, u can try pbb or heavy as above or import the game yourself from oversea.. no need worry of rude salesman...

Yeah TS section 14 digital mall game shops can rip off. Or any shops that generally looks like a hawker stall (unless you're in HK).

I bought from many places and generally make friends with the bosses in each so I find most friendly if you're also be reasonable when talking to them. I'm surprise some of you found GH rude & arrogant. I find them no different than Heavyarm or Impulse other than their location. GH accept credit cards, plus I get One Card points and normally I shop at 1-U. Tend to keep my games there as well coz don't have to go there often to get it. pLus its fun to chat with the bosses.

Also buy from Impulse & now I visit Talk About Games in Summit USJ. It is a nice cozy little shop and their prices are also very competitive. They have a FB page and I bought my GTA V CE (ahem cheaper than ur regular LYN game shops by RM 50 btw), as well as some other games.

List of shops I made purchase before in Malaysia in the past 3 years :
Gamer's Hideout (1-U & Tropicana)
Impulse Megastore
Heavyarm
Talk About Games Summit USJ
Gamester Kota Damansara & 1-U (different boss but same name)
Hwa Ching Games JB
Genius Game Enterprise Pyramid
CK Multimedia Subang
Playtime Bangsar
Asia Games Channel (the Curve) - Got my PS Vita Hatsune Miku edition here drool.gif

Anyway like most of the guys said, just walk away when some of the shops seem rude to you. Each of us has their own style / habit, and if we don't like just don't bother.

*
This! their customer service is bad. Not planning to buy anymore games from them.

Cutthroat, dodgy game shops should be made aware to the public so that these shops wont last 6 months.

List them down here, so that the shopkeepers can revise their games' prices to appropriate range.

Selling higher price due to electricity, rental, employees salaries, etc. we dont give shit abt that.

What we the customers care is reasonable price given to us. We decide which shops stay & which dont.

Dunno how to do proper business, please, leave the original gaming business & jual kat pasar malam lah. whistling.gif

*
when i first bought my ps4 at OU, all the shops were selling more than RM 200 per game except for the one situated nearest to ISETAN and Espresso Lab.

I disagree that the staffs in the GH are rude. Perhaps, this is a subjective issue because I'd bought games more than 5 times with them and they were not that bad, really. U just need to talk to them and they will respond. That's my experience lah... smile.gif

Urmmm... on shops selling at a higher price, when i saw the price, I will usually tell them politely that 'i'll think about' and thank them before leaving. They cant force you to buy.

There was 1 time I was at bangsar wanted to get a ps vita (the latest) as birthday present and a shop quoted me RM 1.6k when I bought at the same shop at OU nearest to ISETAN and Espresso lab for RM 699.

By the way, I am not affiliated with any gaming shop. I just happened to purchased at the same shop because i thought it was reasonable.

There's no harm for discussion actually, I agree with TS, difference price of RM20 is fine, but mark up to RM100 difference is disaster. I too experienced once before, I purchase all my games from a seller all times which based on the first few times I did price comparison with other shops, they are competitive, but one day I found out the last game I bought from them is expensive RM60 than other sellers. I don't blame them entirely though, but myself don't compare each game (Like I am so free haha) I purchase.

So moral of the story, compare the price for every deal. Those shops that sell disaster price won't survive long, especially with current economy. How many "water fish" they can hook up so lucky la?

I know for a fact that a shop in bangsar has 2 prices. One is Lyn price, the other is a ripoff price for walk in. Coz they got a lot of expats there who don't mind being ripped off.

in the end nobody forces anyone to pay ridiculously , as far as i know its still legal to earn a profit no matter how unjust it is,its just business...

best rule of thumb, do your research before purchase, if u are limited in budget and out to find cheapest and lowest deals....that is...

Actually, I find GH rather alright. The person I occasionally spoke to, Lavi, is very patient and well-mannered. I personally walked into their stores before just to check out some games, their staff were quite alright. I guess everyone has different views :/

lavi is the one at Tropicana mall right? usually, i go to OU's and deal with Eugene. I was there once to check out some games. Wanted to get NFS PS4 but i cancelled my reservation when it first came out. Knowing that i wanted to buy, she helped me to check her list of booking and found that there's extra stock with the shop. Voila, got mine.

as for the price, I dont mind what price the seller want to put, its their shop. usually when I ask the price of their game, and they quoted, i just back off, and when some smart alex asks me, hey boss, what price you want? this is ori game you know..then I will say

Thats why I prefer PSN purchase. Less hassle, click buy, tow hours later i will be playing the game.

But my fav shop is of course Gamers Solution at Pertama Complex. They are honest and friendly. dont mind paying a bit extra for a good customer service experience and a happy ending biggrin.gif

During last Dec, i bought my killzone at RM220 in 1 of MV gameshop, I admit I am a bit anxious to test my newly bought PS4 that time. However, in the same day I saw it was selling at RM180 in MaxLink4Gamers Sri Petaling. It really worth my RM40 to learn where to buy my future games icon_rolleyes.gif

Although I have no comment on the attitude of staff, Infamous SS for RM179 is reasonable for windows shopping as they need to give commission to staff for selling the game. RM169 is what you normally can get only by buying online.

true, NOW that is a good trend. digital distribution does not come with logistics cost etc, hence the game should be cheaper. I bought the physical media for RM119.. then the PSN version for 80 plus,.. a good deal I must say.

I stopped buying disc & going for digital download. Occasional bundle sales, discounts, price drop is awesome. PS+ free games (more like rental) actually awesome even though slower than us & uk region but it'll get here eventually.

I like both. I'm a sucker for good bargains. Some games I prefer on disc and hence I usually buy after 6 months when prices drop in LYN (unfortunately not in rip-off shops) unless its a Collector's Edition version. However some games with good bargains on PSN also I sapu (example NFS Most Wanted (PS3) at USD 5!!!! or One Piece Kaizoku Ultimate Bundle at GBP 7!!!! are the recent ones I bought).

Good shops should be listed as opposed to rip off list ... as some may have mentioned, willing buyer willing seller so it is unfair to say that they are rip off shops. but most of us who surf around lowyat forum should know that there are shops which are better in terms of pricing.

perhaps if someone wants to help compile a list of Good shops?

I've personally dealt with
heavyarm
playtime bangsar (must call or PM them in advance and inform you're from lowyat forum)

these 2 ppl have given me non sky high prices smile.gif

for GH i realize if u are a member, then the price can be as low as impulse.

member price for ffx hd and x-2 was rm140 by impulse excluding postage (with pos total rm145). in gh it was rm140, but no stock. i bought it at brothers for rm150.

membership is rm20 per year i think. worth it if u buy alot of games.. sometimes launchday u will delay 1-2 days maybe more over weekend (example:infamous ss ps4) if u buy from impulse.
That said, saw on FB that impulse is opening in ss2 rclxms.gif rclxms.gif . awesome, now can just go ss2 buy at impulse low prices, minus the hassle and delay of postage!!

these outlet dimiliki oleh maxlink Group sony authorise reseller . so their sony gaming stuff pricing will be control tight .

- Maxlink HQ (Endah Parade)
- Talk About Games (The Summit USJ)
- GameFlirt (One Utama)
- Gamester (Kota Damansara Giant)
- The Little Game Shop (1 Mont Kiara Mall)

IF this world got no internet i wonder what you guys do without survey till in the end still purchase anything without discount just like back to ps1/ps2 era i dont even know LYN exist yet .

GH's game prices are only reasonable if you subscribe to their yearly membership. Otherwise it's usually rm10-20 more expensive I think.

Hardly go to Sunway Pyramid but when I was there with my relatives during CNY they quoted the Wii U Zelda Bundle for rm1500+. Some of their PS3 games prices are okay, though.

I doubt so, as our market not big enough. I've been to a few in France & UK, and yeah they have great offers really cheap games (~ GBP 5), and very modern looking. Sadly though, the gaming retail industry is going through a transition and even Game may not survive through the next generation or the one after.

I doubt so, as our market not big enough. I've been to a few in France & UK, and yeah they have great offers really cheap games (~ GBP 5), and very modern looking. Sadly though, the gaming retail industry is going through a transition and even Game may not survive through the next generation or the one after.

Gamers Hideout at 1U is also another rip off shop. They selling Infamous SS for RM179 when it should be RM169. The boss & staff there is also rude & arrogant.

Ten dollars considered a rip off?
Not to be blunt here but you need to get a grip wor.

I might be biased cause I've been buying from them on and off for a long time and these guys, as far as i know are nice blokes. They might not be the cheapest but Gamers Hideout was one of the earliest shops to stock and sell original games at a reasonable price back when the 360 was in its infancy. They did a lot of hard work promoting ori gaming, and had a nice 360 community going for the longest time.

Not the cheapest now with so many new shops popping up, but janganlah call them a rip off. You guys are indirectly benefiting from their hard work wor, these guys were bringing in titles and selling them at RM180 a piece when everyone else were buying RM5 PS2 games. laugh.gif Anyone still remember those Sg Wang shops that were selling originals at RM450 etc etc? Good riddance I say.

As for the rude and arrogant bit, it really depends on the person, even I've bee given somewhat of a cold shoulder from the newer counter guys, but djinn's always been nice and helpful to me. thumbup.gif

I think pertama kompleks gamers solution is the one I find most reasonable. Been buying gej them this pass 7 years, almost all ps3 ori games are from them.

Though now got a lot of online sellers selling cheaper than them. But I still support them. I ussualy stop my car at the road side and have them take the games down for me without having to park my car.

Well, looks like I became one of the victim as well. After contemplating for so long, I decided to get a new PS4. I did go around Lowyat and SgWang to find the best deal. In the end decided to get from QSL GAME SYSTEM ENTERPRISE. Located 1st floor, just beside the escalator (see attach picture)

Anyway I got con for the same reason. Initially they offer RM1150 for the 3 game bundle which is the cheapest among all the store. However upon confirming to buy, they ask me what Region I want? That's where I got caught, huh... got region want meh? So that is where they bulls*** about if you buy Region3 then you cannot play Region2 games...etc. So better buy ALL REGION. Well I did not research about the different region, in my mind I thought all the same.

Anyway cut the story short, she convince me to get the ALL REGION console which has a A-3-3 chop at the bottom of the box (Yes, I know what it is after I bought!). So of course the so called ALL REGION is more expensive, I kinda payed probably RM150-200 more.

Later after my purchase & did a little research then I found out the truth! Well, I should have wait a little, is my fault. But a lesson learn indeed.

My hope is, whoever plans to buy a new console/ games. Please DO NOT buy from this shop. I repeat here again, the name of the shop is QSL GAME SYSTEM ENTERPRISE. (refer picture). Thank You.

Sorry to read your experience bro. I already banned Lowyat or Sg Wang game shops since ps days. My dad buy for me ps console kena con there. Won’t do it anymore.

Btw, Lazada has the best deals for PS4 during sales. Just make sure the order is fulfilled by Lazada.
Bought my PS4 pro during 12/12 sales for 1199
