because some people prefer all their games to be on Steam, including Uplay games.

Somehow all my AC steam keys works on Uplay, ended up all my AC series collection in Ubiplay now.

still, you need Steam to play those games you have activated on Uplay. unless you use Uplay key NOT from Steam to activate the game.

I understand there's a DRM attached to Steam for Ubisoft games, but somehow mine was able to launch from the stand alone Uplay client.

if the uplay key is generated from Steam, the game will always require Steam to run along with Uplay. And it's better if you turn on Uplay first before launching the game on Steam.
