the common theory is price for older models will reduce, while latest models will increase by around 10-15%.

heck, thats why i prefer to wait price drop for Alienware M17x R4 so i can loot it at lower price and buy upgrade parts.

It doesn't apply to all notebooks.. I've still seen some irresponsible shop sellers selling old notebooks 3-4 generations behind at their original RRP... and what's more surprisingly, some still buy them

technology is hard to chase as every year there will be newer models. my point of view towards buying laptops and phones :

Phones - buy the highest end of the particular brand and change every 2-3 years.
Laptops - buy the mid-high end ones of the particular brand and change/upgrade every 2-3 years. for upgradeable laptop's case, just upgrade the graphics cards once in 2 years.

however, this only applies for those whom are lucky.

Don't think you can extend warranty for MSI 

you can always check back the price via online and compare it actually.
for MSI, if im not mistaken its 2 years carry-in and 1 year international. no warranty extension available.
