Hey PF T.J

I like all your recommendations, i'm basically looking for the same specs and budget. Which would you say is the most robust.

I made the mistake of trusting Dell to much but each of my laptop has died because of one reason or another.

The performance doesn't really matter. I like good cooling systems and for the laptop to generally last 3 years or more. ( i know sometimes its luck)

Thanks!!

* Prices in RRP ya notworthy.gif
* Use remaining budget to extend warranty to 3 years (if applicable). Can consider upgrading to 8GB RAM too if you want- will help in multitasking
* Just choose the one that you like the most. But in terms of stock performance, the Lenovo Flex 14 will be relatively faster because of the SSHD

Thanks man!

Every brand have different lineups of notebooks, ranging from budget, premium, multimedia, gaming to business
You can't say a brand is bad because you bought a budget-range notebook and it spoilt  Try getting a business-class notebook see whether it can last for 5 years or more or not :hehe:

That said, you can't really expect too much from with a RM2k budget  Laptop nowadays are way cheaper than, say 5 years ago mainly because of quality drop
For RM2k, the best you can do is get a budget-line notebook. Yes it won't be an excellent notebook, but at least you can have a peace of mind when its covered by superb warranty support  Which is why I always recommend Dell, especially if you are a student and doesn't have a secondary notebook. I used to own a Toshiba Satellite M100 which broke down during the final weeks before I pass up my thesis... I had to borrow notebook from other people just to work... while waiting for around 1.5 months for the fried motherboard to be fixed. Its was a great notebook (RM4.5k that time), but as you already know, whether it will spoil or not depends on luck as well.. the notebook is still working at home haha, 7 years already

Anyways, saw a great deal, if you don;t mind the 10" profile, can consider these:
10.1"
Microsoft
Surface Pro, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + (1920x1080;touch) + 64GB SSD@RM1899[680g], 4GB, W8P
Surface Pro, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + (1920x1080;touch) + 128GB SSD@RM2139[680g], 4GB, W8P

Not much stock left. But Senheng/harvey norman etc. offer different gift packages along with each unit, some with 4 years warranty. Worth checking out if you are interested. But do take note we have no idea how good is Microsoft's warranty support in Malaysia... probably just like the rest  :hmm:

*Sorry for the long-windedness haha
For me, I'd go for the Dell Inspiron 14 7000 (not exactly a budget-notebook), then fork out a bit more for 3 years warranty :peace:
*
lol That was quick!!

Yeah I agree with your observation that budget laptops are not reliable, I was using a Dell latitude in my previous company and it was robust as hell

It's just that for the budget ones I have 3 laptops, one died after a year, another 3 years and one more without much use is still surviving, guess it's pretty ok.

I do not have experience with other laptops hence the need for your expertise

I just trawled the internet looking for the surface pro, but sen heng and harvey norman dont seem to put it up online

They dont sell it in the other IT stores?

Anyway If i was looking for a business notebook (because i want a better build)

with a budget of 3k +- and also i dont do gaming just work generally what would you recommend?

Thanks!!
