Need recommendation for a designer's laptop.

1. Preferred Brand: None
2. Budget: 5-10k
3. Usage: Windows 7/8 64 bit, Photoshop CC, Lightroom CC, Indesign CC, Premier Pro, Office 2013
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 15" and above. Must not heavy.
5. Storage: SSD 500GB and above.
6. Long lasting battery is a major plus!

Any help is highly appreciated.

Many thanks for the recommendation bro. Highly appreciate it.

I'm planning similarly like your suggestion - running bootcamp but on MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch instead of 15 inch due to size, weight and mobility.
Below is what I've gathered so far;

Specifications (13 inch Macbook Pro with Retina display)
• 2.8GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
• 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
• 512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
• Apple USB SuperDrive
• Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide (English)

Purchase Information
• RM 7,508.00

Is this a good setup or would it be better to stick with 15 inch instead?
I would prefer to spend not more than 8k at this moment.

Thanks heaps in advance for your kind reply!

Wah, god-like budget brows.gif
Most people will go for this, and bootcamp:
15.6"
Dell
MacBookPro 15" (Retina Display), i7-4750HQ + Nvidia GT750M + 512GB SSD + (2880x1800)@RM8499[2.02kg], 16GB, backlit keyboard, Mac OSX
If you prefer Windows-based notebooks:
15.6"
Dell
XPS 15, i7-4702HQ + Nvidia GT750M (GDDR5) + 32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm) + (3200x1800; Touch)@RM6299 [2.0kg], 16GB, W8.1SL, backlit keyboard, 61Whr

Precision M3800, i7-4702HQ + Nvidia Quadro K1100M + (1920x1080; Touch) + 8GB SSHD + 500GB HDD@~RM6599 [2.0kg], 16GB, W8.1SL, backlit keyboard, 61Whr
-M3800 also available in qHD+ resolution. Sorry that we don't have access to the full specs

HP
ZBook 15, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia Quadro K1100M + (1920x1080; anti glare)@RM6399, 4GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8

* Prices in RRP
* I strongly recommend taking a look at the Dell XPS15/Precision M3800 (they both look the same, but differ in specs). Can consider PMing bro putochip123, and ask him to throw in a 512GB SSD for you brows.gif He is very experienced in Dell/Alienware notebook upgrades thumbup.gif Prices are good too~

Thanks again for the prompt reply. I'll have further look on XPS15/Precision M3800.

Actually I travel a lot and need to pull MacBook Pro out for short bursts of activity several times a day — say, in remote offices or coffee shops — for things like photo/video editing, presentation, email/word processing, and web browsing.

Since I travel with quite a lot of camera gear (dslr, tripod & accessories), that is why I am trying to minimize as much weight as I can. rclxub.gif

15" is definitely better for editing work- More workspace nod.gif

Maybe can go for the XPS15 or Precision M3800 + SSD, should overall be much cheaper nod.gif
Otherwise, you'll have to fork out the money for the MBP 15RD with 512GB SD, Apple is like that one la laugh.gif
Anyways, there seems to be another one with 256GB SSD as well, but might not be enough space for your files hmm.gif

Spot on bro. I think I'll settle with 15 inch instead coz I really need that quad core & Iris Pro dedicated 2GB graphic card for image/video editing.

Many thanks all for the suggestion!

the 13" rmbp is dual core processor and iris graphic only... another option for you to consider..

how about 15" RMBP... just shy 2.0kg... and shy RM 8179, with configuration as follow
2.0GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
no Apple USB SuperDrive

or directly get the higher spec 15 RMBP at rm 8499....

just suggest only....
